He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. I don't know if you've been informed, but Dimash has a reported 7.2 octave range & sings in 14 languages, even though he cant speak all of them. She's just released her 5th studio album and at the end of the year is due to star in a brand new musical especially written for her. I know his Range is ridiculous but his control is insane & Dimash is literally a breathing machine...... I know some say this is lip synched & some Russian performances are lip synched b/c they are produced shows but one way to tell if it's live - especially in English is his English breaks down a little - he'll struggle w/ the TH dipthong - pronouncing TH at the S sound later in the song as he naturally grows more tired - Underneath is UnderneaS & Strength is StrengS..... Listen for it....

Not a bad song to have stuck in your head. LOL. Another great song to listen to to pump yourself up is Olimpico. But the best version is on Igor Krutoy's page, where you see all these light sticks. Originally captions are in Italian, but the autotranslate works well on that video. Olimpico or Ogni Pietra (Every Stone) is an incredible song. You cant put Dimash in a box when it comes to music, he sings every genre, even a bit of rap. The only one I haven't heard yet is country, but he might surprise us one day.

Such a haunting song. I was told that after he sang, he went to the hospital, because he was sick. Yet he did his performance without a hitch. The Korbtz is an old Kasach instrument. Dimash is so dedicated to perform for us dears. His whistle tone, is above whistle tone. lol He does an instrumental, on the Dombra, so beautiful. It's called River of Love. Love your reaction, Oh he has such an emotional ride for us. I get chills with all of his songs.
