They say habitat destruction caused by pollution is what accounts for the decline of wild shrimp, but that's just not true. The main reason is the destruction of their habitats by people dragging nets. The main reason behind that is the high demand. We need to start more advanced programs for breeding & "seeding" the oceans with the seafood we want. We also farm them in environments that mimick their natural environment. People need to stop thinking wild is the only way to go. This video promotes wild only, which is what helps cause the problem.

I dip my shrimp or fish in corn starch before going in the egg mix and panko. It produces a very nice crust and admirable texture.

Wow, just made this today and it was as advertised!!! The dipping sauce and the crunchy texture the panko breading were a tour-de-force of flavor and texture and the tip about adding seasoning along the way is a keeper. Thank you for sharing, this is my new go-to for those Costco shrimp.🤩

ATK has a recipe for air fryer chicken parmesan that is similar to this - dipping the meat in a flavoured egg and flour batter, then in panko. You do have to toast the panko first though because it won't brown well in the air fryer. You can do that with some oil either in the microwave or in a pan on the stove.

I always put fried food on a wire rack to ensure the food is crispy. Paper towels can cause the food to steam which effects the crispyness.

I love horseradish but honestly, why would anyone want to ruin the taste of a delicious shrimp? I'm going to have a problem when I visit Japan because they dip almost everything in either shoyu, mayo or other sauces. Why not drain the shrimp on a wire rack? It's more effective and doesn't cause the food to become soggy on one side.

I do! If shrimp has been deveined but the shell and tail left intact, I can eat the tail and shell, but it has to be fried properly. I found a Japanese restaurant and a Korean restaurant where I live who leave the shell and tail on and it's so crunchy good. I wish I knew their secret.

@@jonnyfendi2003No matter what variety, where it’s from or which store, they either have absolutely no flavor or occasionally a strong iodine taste from gulf shrimp. The head-on shell-on shrimp that’s sold in most Asian markets in a box has so much flavor, even if I remove the head and shell for certain dishes.

While I personally enjoyed the history lesson, I can understand some might not. I would suggest adding chapters on the videos so you can jump right to the part you like or skip a non-cooking segment. Trump supporters especially don't like history and try to forget: the Civil War, Jan 6th and Biden winning.

I'm usually never one to point out such things (because I generally like to hold people to good faith), but I can't help wonder if people's irritation towards the history segements might (in part) be due to the fact that Toni is not a white man. I wonder if the reaction would be the same if it were Dan presenting, or someone like Christopher Kimball.

Vegetables, in general, are not good for you. Big Veggie has been lying to us, for years! For decades, they had everybody convinced that butter, eggs, bacon, red meat were all toxic poison... but why did all of our great grandparents live to be 90+ years old, eating all of that stuff, every day? Because it's actually VEGETABLES that are poisonous.

I agree that it seems that it's not healthy but you literally have to give up nearly everything to get rid of it. You can't eat any fried food outside what you make yourself and nearly all processed food is off limits. No chips or store-bought snacks. I've been doing keto about 3/4 of the time with some breaks so I haven't had hardly any processed or fried food. When I am going to fry things, I use ground up pork rinds as the breading and use coconut or avocado oil to pan fry.
