Does someone know how many Lauches can you perform and what is the limit in terms of Nm?
@Mercedes-AMG10 жыл бұрын
There are several requirements in regards to the possible maximum amount of race starts: the transmission temperature, the torque clutch entry, engine oil temperature, cooling temperature, and, in general, all engine and transmission functions. When the vehicle is warmed up, its electronics handle those requirements automatically. Therefore, it is not possible to provide information about a certain amount of race starts that is valid for all AMG vehicles. In general, a race start is always a strain for the whole powertrain of the vehicle and increases the wear of all parts included, therefore, some limitations apply. At this point, the limit in terms of Newton meters can go up to 400 Nm in the first gear, depending on the overall grip. In second gear, the amount of Newton meters can go up to 550, whereas in third gear, the full power of the powertrain gets released. Of course, all numbers can vary depending on the series. We hope this helps!

Mercedes-AMG Thank you for response. Another question that I have is concerning the 5.5 biturbo engine. On my CLS 63 PP it produces 557 hp and 800Nm, whereas S/CL63 has 571hp and 900Nm even though they have same engine. Is there any real difference like higher turbo pressure or its just the numbers, which are lower on CLS because of the subordination?

beaman220 lol little bit of a novel but years or two back i had to replace the entire tcu and wet clutch on my w204 c63 - roughly $5k job - computer had a “catastrophic internal fault” one day and locked everything up - car wouldn’t move. Then a few months after repair, it started having shift/slippage issues so we pulled pan and noticed the solenoids were clogged up w/ ton of clutch material, and tons in the fresh fluid. Turns out no one near me (Central NJ) will rebuild them, and thats IF you can even find the right parts (benz doesn’t sell rebuild kit, cant even tell you specific part #s inside trans since they vary car to car somehow??) So i ended up finding a nice used low mile unit out of a P30 car for cheap, was an easy swap and reprogram and shes been good ever since (knock on wood!) i later found out that AMS sells an Exedy clutch pack upgrade set, so if it ever goes again thats whats going in.

@ASDGA4 жыл бұрын
Anthony Freda couldn’t you just retune tcu or is there other cheaper ways of getting around the job
@anthonyfreda10404 жыл бұрын
ASDGA im not aware of anyone who will tune the tcu on this trans/car specifically. But even if there was anyone the unit had totally shorted/failed so it basically fried itself somehow. If you look around/read the car is somewhat notorious for having a leaky 13pin connector on the trans that will let trans fluid into the wiring harness on tcu/valvebosy and ruin everything, so im leaning towards that being what happened to me besides the extreme clutch wear
@ASDGA4 жыл бұрын
Anthony Freda thanks for the reply mate. Seems it’s actually more of a liability to have a spec with this trans, probably should avoid . Thanks 👌

Yes, it's dual clutch and you can see it in the explosion view.
@Codename738 жыл бұрын
You're smoking crack. It's a DCT.
@An.Individual8 жыл бұрын
it's a SLUSH BOX. a proper DCT has 2 gearboxes and 2 clutches
@Codename738 жыл бұрын
+Chainsaw Dude It's a VERY stupid argument really. Here's why: I agree it's not a standard DCT. However, IT IS a multi-clutch transmission, one clutch let's go of the first gear while the other clutch grabs the second gear, at the same time. Make no mistake this is dual clutch shifting, BUT, it's not a typical DCT design. It's definitely not PDK (best DCT in the world). This car shifts VERY VERY fast. This car changes gears in 100 milliseconds. That's 3 gear shifts in the blink of an eye!! The point here is this car rips off 3.2-3.4 0-62s all day long with Launch Control (and you can be a regular skilled driver to do it) and shifts faster than anything other than PDK and I hear people bashing it. By the way, I own one. It's startlingly fast at almost 5000 pounds.

I think when you push the gas pedal down.... there are 2 things happens under the hood : 1) the fuel consumption is the same like camel drinking water when very hot and dry weather ! 2) the engine laughing on you ! and screaming : wake me up !!! i am still sleepy !

Too bad it si not a double clutch. But CLA 45 and A45 are going that way so I hope the rest of models are getting to that too.

The SL(Super Light) body is made of Aluminum. This "DCT" and the 7g-Tronic transmission cases are made of magnesium. Why on earth does this car weigh 4000 LBS?
@gl0boy7646 жыл бұрын
1 - It’s a convertible (heavy roof mechanism). 2 - That 6.2L V8 is insanely heavy. 3 - It’s more of a luxury cruiser so it’s fitted with heavier parts for suspension, steering and comfort
@no-damn-alias2 жыл бұрын
The 6.2l V8 is incredibly light for what it is. Beginning with the M113 the engines became very light. A M113 weights less than a M102! Yes that is true. Believe it or not the scales don't lie although some women believe differently ;)

Can you imagine the maintenance on this set up when it gets old? Whole thing just becomes scrap. Check how many old S class cars a still on the road. A luxury car reaches a point where its maintenance costs far exceed its value. These are lovely machines when relatively new but don't even dream of going near an older one without deeeeeep pockets.
@guysteel9 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you are correct, that's probably why the 2006 SL600 sold for something like $132,000 new but you can get a used one for $40,000 in great shape.

they need the real dual clutches to replace this shit.
@gl0boy7646 жыл бұрын
Although it’s a “Multi-Clutch” system it isn’t engineered like a normal dual clutch. If you’ve ever driven an AMG before the W205 C63 came out, you’ll notice the lag from not only the paddles to the transmission but from gear to gear. It’s a little more sluggish than the competitors like BMW’s DCT or the PDK.
@meshahotVEVO5 жыл бұрын
борз 95 Multi-clutch (MCT), Dual Clutch (DCT), and Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) all mean the same thing (they’re synonyms) when it comes to the amount of clutches involved.
