Thank you for sharing your point of view, especially when you mentioned in your other video that selecting a chair should be based in your body size. Hope to see more videos in future.

Yup. I went from 2" to 3" casters on my heavy chair and it made a world of differnce.

Appreciate your short and to the point review. I am researching on a new chair and the Amia hits a lot of points. The sliding seat is a must for me and the seat depth is also important. (Had a hard time find shorter seat depth.) But the upright back support is also a must for me. So I guess I will continue with my search.

Sitting at 90 degrees is actually bad for you. It means that your back does not share some of your weight and the entire weight of your upper body is only supported by your behind.

Is it or no
@VuHien20112 жыл бұрын
@@xboxgamerz22 what do you mean by is it or no? this is physics. if your back is vertical, it means that the weight is going down through your backbone to your behind. Leaning on the back of the chair would redirect some of the weight to the back of the chair

This chair has a proper back for sitting upright, but, well, if you want to strain your spine sitting at a 90 degree angle, go for it.

They make different casters for carpet or hard floors. On your other point about the back at 90 degress- does any ergonomic office chair do that?

An FYI, I bought the version with the plastic base/frame. It doesn't seem heavy at all, wondering if the aluminum base option on your chair is what made it heavy.

I have to agree on the back angle issue. Assuming you are rolling it on carpet. Depending on how thick your carpet is, it most likely is that the piston is dragging along the carpet. I don't understand why, but a lot of Steelcase chairs are designed where the piston is only about an inch above the floor. WIth thick carpet, this is a huge issue. I ran into the same issue with my Amia chair.

Thanks for the review! Not many people cover this chair. All the attention for Steelcase seems to go to the Leap V2. I didn't think about the back support tapering off at the top. I think that would bother me as well. Keep us posted on what you try out next! Also, did you purchase from Steelcase directly or did you go through a dealer?
@gooddesignbaddesign4503 жыл бұрын
I was surprised to find out that the ability to adjust the back position isn’t common. I’m planning on doing an update video this weekend. I’ll definitely keep you all posted! I did purchase from Steelcase directly. Easy to navigate, free samples, and no restocking fee (excludes their Work from Home Program). Customer service can be a hard to get a hold of, but everything’s behind with COVID.

you need to lower the surface for your keyboard, and also try to use split keyboard to open up your chest. This way, you will naturally fall back to let the chair hug you. If you still prefer to sit straight to keyboarding, try chairs that have forward-tilt feature. Dont just sit 90 degrees with nothing suppporting your lower and mid back areas. It is not healthy at all.

I’m glad you found the video helpful. I’m still on the search for a chair, but I might be able to help you get in the right direction. I’ve seen Steve Meagher, a physical therapist, recommend the Office Master PT78. I’ll have his video below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lad5gLKK2MWYhJc.html It’s one of the few chairs I know of with an adjustable back position. It also seems lighter than the Amia. There’s a couple of chairs I’ll be looking into over the next week. I’ll be doing an update video when I find out more.

I just returned mine as well. My biggest criticism was the recline. The seat didn't recline nearly as much as the back did, which made it feel like I wasn't supported. It also didn't have a tilt lock, which ended up being a deal breaker for me.

You are not suppose to rest your upper back on the chair based on ergonomic science.

About to buy a Steelcase Amia, after a lot of research, and got worried when I saw this. But none of the cons are really cons about the chair and more just personal preference of the reviewer and thus subjective. You're not suppose to sit at a 90 degree angle. Your spine isn't a straight 90 degrees, which is why the chair isn't designed as such. The weight is also relative. But it's not really an issue of the weight... it's the fact that you're directly on carpet without the right casters. You switch to rubber casters for carpet. You could of also of just bought a chair mat to reduce the friction and made it easier to roll. You're basically running on the beach and complaining because your legs are more tired than when running on flat gravel. The only issue I have with the Steelcase Amia is that it'll take 2-4 weeks to even ship... and I need a new chair now. I might have to buy another chair and return it in the meantime.
@horrorfan67102 жыл бұрын
You got to be kidding me, pushing and pulling a chair on carpet ? of coarse it will be more difficult to move the chair any chair on carpet. First of all you need to get one of those plastic mats and make sure it's a thick one and not flimsy one. Another reason you need a plastic mat is to protect the carpet otherwise you will damage the carpet it may take a year or so but soon enough the damage is done.

She probably got the wrong casters for the chair lol.

My comment is probably too late to make a difference, change out the casters with rollerblade casters and consider dropping a 4x6 ft piece of 1/2 in plywood under the chair
