You're totally right! I started doing drugs when I was 13 because I hated being home because all my dad would do is beat me and take stuff away from me and would lock me in my room. My mom was there but not mentally. She was always off in some other place except for her home and her children. She would ignore us, ignore the beatings and just stay in her room while my dad slept on his recliner chair. It was sad, not normal at all! My older brother and a few of his friends introduced me to pot and then not too long after the pot they introduced me to meth. First line I was hooked! And of course I started drinking when I was 13. All of that made me happy and I had a lot of friends so I felt the love from them not by my house at all!!! Then my mom started drinking and also was going through bulimia. I moved out when I was 15 and came back when I was 19 because I wanted to go to college. By then my dad was older and much calmer so I wasn't afraid to live there for a year or so. I've done drugs basically my entire life😢😢 bug I'm clean now, I'll have 3 years on September 25!!😀

@@reemclaughlin4260 it blows me away just how true that is.. How? Its so incredibly sad that kids are let down by their own "protectors". This is terrible. Serious? Prayers to this woman. I use to be addicted to Cocaine back in the day...1980's. It was never stepped on on laced with all kinds of ingredients like today. Not glamerizing one over the other. Just like marijuana. The 90's changed all that real quick. I been in sobriety for 15 years. Used for 25 years. Same effect on the poor and vulunerable but now rich white Suburban teens are getting high and hooked. Then it was people of color on just about everything. Then it was about dealers survival. Now its just plain greed. Dear Lord please help the dealers and the addict come to know you and know that you Lord God is more than enough.....that their soul can find peace by coming to yiur Son, Jesus Christ.

I like some of the additional questions you have been incorporating into the interviews. Seeing someone have to really search for answers to such a basic question as what are your favorite foods, color, actor etc etc demonstrate how someone slowly loses their humanity in active addiction. Little by little, normal thoughts/feelings are replaced by scheming on how to get the next one, no matter what risk it puts you in or who you have to deceive. Forcing someone to recall some of the small details that once upon a time made up who they were as a person when they weren't grinding on the streets 24/7 probably is not gonna make someone stop using right then and there. However, it can at least plant a seed for someone who is making a conscious effort to avoid any thoughts and feelings that remind them of a better time in their life. That is why you hear about everyone getting "stuck" down there. Just trying to survive becomes all consuming and there is no time to focus on what you have lost or destroyed. Pulling someone aside for a few minutes and asking them what they are all about as a person in a non threatening or judgemental manner brings back some of that humanity if only for a moment.

Living with R/A is extremely hard. Kerrie would be an excellent candidate as an inpatient in a rehabilitation program. Her meds would be monitored and needs appointments for GI clinics. Pain management and treatment can be discussed w/specialists in both areas. The early childhood sexual abuse that she stuffs all those emotions is something survivors live with their entire lives. It appears that she's ready to come to terms with those extremely difficult events that stole her childhood. It takes courage, and she really seems to be ready to start doing all the work needed to get through those trying obstacles. I hope Kerrie is able to be placed, and the right ones are there to guide her through her long journey. She has such a lovely soul and I believe she has the ambition needed to begin healing. Placement is key. I'm rooting for her recovery and if AML can network her into that direction, I commend you!

Good job guys .I'm originally from Philadelphia. What a great place. I'm in Tampa now but have lived in New Orleans and some rough places. I really wish there was an answer to drug addiction. But you shedding a light on things helps somehow. Because we are not alone at the same time we are . Thanks Brother.

This poor lady..... Addicts get frowned upon and talked badly about all the time.... Judge not unless yet be judged! Ya never know what has happened to that 'addict'...... Most are not only in physical pain but also mental/emotional pain. Doctors started all of this pain & suffering.... Legal Drug Dealers! Get people addicted then turn their backs on them...... Smh May God bless her and watch over her!

I broke my right ankle 1 1/2 years ago. The hospital gave me Fentanyl when they reset my ankle a day before surgery. All I can say is I don't remember a thing except as I was coming out of it I felt like I couldn't move, my speech was slurred, everything was in slow motion and I was very thirsty. There was no way I could function in any capacity and I was praying that the way I was feeling would just go away, it was awful. I can't begin to imagine how anyone would want to take this drug, that's insane!

I am from Dublin in Ireland 🇮🇪. I want to send this beautiful lady a package!! The thought of my mam in this position breaks my heart. It will take me a little time, as I am mother and im not at work as her father left but I will do this for Kerrie. In the next few weeks ill send one. She is just so sweet. She made me cry. I am starting addiction counselling studies very soon. I am very lucky ive never been addicted, but my father died from alcohol and my dear cuz was strung out on tabs thankfully he is in recovery after 10 years and another of rehab and he loves it. This breaks my heart. You can do this Kerrie ❤

@Steph C exactly! I don't understand why ppl comment on these types of vids about ppls looks.." to pretty to be using" "wow she looks way older then that",,ect.ect......... That is ALL you can come up with to say? The ppl that comment these ignorant 😡 meaningless comments are the ppl that have NEVER walked a single step in our shoes....Nor could they!!!!!! Simps
@betsybabf748
@betsybabf748 4 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethsheehan9748 You called people names and criticized others for discussing obvious observations. You must feel like a good doobie now, or at least pretend to feel so. You have no idea what shoes these people walked in, so your comment is quite ignorant. What shoes did you walk in that you grew into a person who so desperately needed to improve your own self esteem by spending your time criticizing other people's conversations and name-calling because that sounds like some pretty sad and very ugly shoes? The aging effect due to drug use is shocking and part of the topical discussion of effects of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle choices. If you don't want to join the discussion, which these videos are created to bring forth, the corner is over there, where you can there comfortably pretend to be something you're not.
