The rule of thumb that I was always told was anything that travels less than 1200fps is subject to failure to eject and feed in semiautomatic rifles. So far it has been shown to be true.

A little trick is: For 22LR Rifles with 16" barrels or less, you can use Aguila Standard 40gr trhough a can and be just as silent as the Aguila subsonic but with more punch. (Due to the short barrel, the standard velocity round doesn't have the speed required to break the sound barrier.) With 18"+ barreled rifles, well, they will go transonic then supersonic and you will hear the "crack/whip".

I have about 20 of those left, 15gr bullet with no powder. Quiet as hell. Also weaker than my .22 Spring powered air rifle shooting .17gr ,22 caliber pellets. Can't find them anywhere anymore, which stinks because if you want to shoot a small pest and be QUIET (quieter than my air rifle) they're the ticket. But you need to make sure it exited the barrel before firing another in a rifle.

For Stealth, I will take the CCI quiet. You would be most likely be-hunting small type game and it has proven the ammo has enough energy to take that type game at 25 yards and still keep it's accuracy. You may wish do do an accuracy comparison at several distances out to 50 yards.

+Christina Moneyhan I agree. The Quiet is a good round for small game and very own noise, especially out of long barrel bolt action rifles like the Remington Targetmaster.

You really can not fault the Aguila's for not cycling the 10-22. Don't think of it as the round is not allowing the Ruger to function as it designed, think of it as your 10-22 is not set up to shoot that type of subsonic round. Many custom charging bolt handles such as those made by KIDD come with 3 different springs. One for Hyper, one for Standard and the last for Subsonic velocity rounds like the Aguila which is just slow enough to be subsonic as you know. If you were to replace your stock charging handle spring with a lighter version, it would resolve your cycling issues. I have three 10-22 builds set up just for subsonic rounds like the Aguila's. When combined with a good suppressor which almost eliminates the report, you will find that just under sonic speed rounds are almost as quiet as the much slower CCI rounds you tested. The only thing keeping them from being as quiet is the "clang" sound of the action cycling. It is a wonderful thing when you are addressing issues to quiet the mechanical noises of the action to allow even stealthier shooting. At that point your now worrying about the sound of the round impacting your target as it will be heard over anything else.
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer 7 жыл бұрын
+Craig VanMeter My review was not about faulting anything. It simply a review about how these two rounds stacked against each other. Both rounds performed well, but the CCI Quiet is better for silent hunting. That is what the review was about, not whether the rounds cycled in a stock 10/22. That was simply an observation for made during the review.

@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer 6 жыл бұрын
+Bryan Heimann Both of these rounds are hunting grade rounds, so there accuracy will be about the same. Of course accuracy depends a lot on the gun that being used and the shooter. The main difference between these rounds will be the balistics trajectory, which is going to be a lot more on the CCI Quiet, due to the lower velocity the the Aguila Sub-Sonic. Hope this helps.

Surly this is a good example of a longer barrel shooting faster cause of lack of powder burn and loosing speed on to long barel, seems like these sub Sonic round reach peak speed in the length of the 10-22 where they loose speed in the other rifle bacause of the barrel being to long. @thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer 4 ай бұрын
You are very welcome. I am glad you enjoyed the video. As far as snarky comments go, when I first started my channel, they really bothered me, but then I came to understand that the people commenting that way were not saying things about me as much as they were revealing things about themselves. I mean, what type of person goes around watching videos to criticize one tiny little element of a video. Especially when you consider that the person making the video is just a normal person with a cheap action camera, not a multimillion-dollar Hollywood studio? Think about what that says about the person making the snarky comment. Today, I feel sad for people who come on my videos to just rag on some tiny thing they did not like. I often wonder what sad things are going on in their life to make them so grumpy and critical. I sometimes say a prayer for them because who knows what they are going through. If possible, I try to respond positively in some way. I am very honest about my lack of professionalism. I want to be genuine. I want my viewers to feel that they are watching a normal person just like themselves, not some highly trained professional following a script. I actually never write a script for my videos. Everything is right off the cuff. I try to be concise, and I have gotten better over the years at speaking more clearly (I actually suffer from a stuttering problem), but I still do not use any scripts in my videos. I say exactly what is on my mind completely unfiltered. I want my channel to be a positive channel that helps people so people can feel that I am real with them, and I refuse to let it be hijacked by people who are just having a bad day.

Aquila vs gel or water jugs? Any expansion?
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer 4 жыл бұрын
I do not have the capacity to do a gel test, but I have shot a lot of animals with lead point shorts. I have to be honest, expansion is extremely minimal at this low of velocity. Additionally, you really don't want a whole lot of expansion because the more expansion you get, the less penetration. When you are dealing with tiny calibers and low velocity, penetration is preferred over expansion, because you are not trying to kill via blood loss, you are trying to kill via precision shooting for a vital organ hit.

I do have a decibel meter but in my experience, they cannot reliably measure the sound of a gunshot. Just like when you record a video of a gunshot, the shot never sounds like the actual sound you heard. It is really hard for microphones to pick up the full spectrum of the sound of a gunshot. But here a couple of videos where I did try to measure the shots with a decibel meter. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jJeIYJBoreC1qJ8.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otZjgLqYzse6f30.html

Well, that is not a nice thing to say. Did you not read the title before watching? "Ammunition Review: CCI QUIET vs Aquila Subsonic. Which is best for stealth hunting? With BLOOPERS!" Any person who can read would have known from the title that I "Intentionally" left the bloopers in this video. A klutz is someone who Unintentionally does dumb things. For example; A person who fails to read the title of a blooper video and then criticizes that video for having bloopers, might be considered a Klutz.

I've used the aguila subsonic in a 22 conversion kit before, and hated it. It had enough power to reliably eject and load a new cartridge, but not enough to cock the hammer. It was very annoying, but the quietest ammo I've shot suppressed that still had power. Probably good for a manually operated gun.

@@thejungleexplorer wow, I had forgotten all about this. I can update now, it's amazing through a bolt gun. Accuracy is sub-par and it tumbles like a drunk gymnast, but it sounds beefy when it hits the target. I've also come to love it in the AR conversion kit, as it stabilizes really well in a 1:7 barrel. I just need a beefier spring to make it a straight-pull bolt

After doing quite a bit of research into the issue, I would have to spend around $2000 to buy a decibel meter capable of accurately detecting the decibels of a gunshot. Since I produce these video for free all at my own expense, I will gladly start including accurate decibel readings when my subscribers start a goFundMe and raise the money for me to buy the piece of equipment I need to do this. I don’t understand why this video exists. This is like taking a Honda Civic and a Lamborghini in a off-roading competition. Doesn’t everyone know the point of subsonic is to be fired suppressed? Test the sound going through the same suppressed firearm.. aguila designed the sss to have as much stopping power as possible. They stretch the upper velocity limits with 60 grains.. the only comparison you should’ve making is which one cycles better suppressed. And I’d assume the aguila wins. It’s more impulse for sure. Faster AND heavier. But really, anything under a reported 1250 muzzle velocity should come out of a 4” barrel as subsonic, and cycles better than any subsonic ammo, so that basically makes all subsonic 22 ammo pointless.

+otetechie I appreciate all comments, even critical ones, but please pay attention to the title so that you will understand the purpose of the review. @FlyRiverFly 6 жыл бұрын
You clearly dont appreciate critical responses. Stealth hunting is more than the report of the rifle. It has to do with camouflage, stealthy movement, scent, wind direction and yes report of the rifle. As for CCI quiet, you will have a limited range beyond which the bullet drop will become so significant that it will require extreme stealth just to get in range without significant holdover. Lastly, could you have chose two more dissimilar rounds to compare. How about Aguila super colibri which comes in at 590 fps and is quieter than the CCI quiet. Of Course that would negate skewed testing methods and predetermined outcome you were looking for.
