I think the character in this story was over 18 anyway BUT a big argument for OUTLAWING marriage for people under age 18 is that there are parents who will "agree" to a marriage and sell their daughter off to a pedophile in states where marriages can happen as young as 14. This issue was addressed in an episode of Chicago Medical where a 14 year old girl was married to a man who looked to be in his early 50s (best guess based on how he looked, his exact age was not given). The hospital wanted to call the police and were told that legally there was nothing that they could do due to the marriage being legal. NOBODY under age 18 should be allowed to marry in the United States. It is NOT 1740 anymore.

Your parents were willing to marry their daughter off to a creep without considering their daughter’s feelings about this and your ex boyfriend Jacob wasn’t willing to financially be there for his child and he’s a gold digger. This tells to me how little care about her but themselves. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating her like garbage. Instead of lying about being an orphan she should have just flat out told the truth that her family disowned her for not marrying the man they wanted to arrange and kicking her out for being pregnant.
