Check out this review if you are interested in buying automatic running boards, or if yours are not operating correctly. My amp steps would not go up or down when they were supposed to, but it was an easy fix.

I’m so glad you mentioned the OBD splitter. I already have a dashcam plugged into mine and I thought it might be a dealbreaker for getting these steps. Especially if it will entail a custom wiring job. Thanks for sharing that info.

Hey man great looking truck! My next build is going to be a f250 tremor hopefully. Anyway, when your steps stopped working did you hear a click sound when you opened the door? My passenger step won’t come down but I hear the step motor click when I open the door. Haven’t messed around with it much but figured I’d ask to help narrow down the issue. Thanks!

In the long run, the plastic in the bushings fail and then the force required to move them goes up. The long term solution is to set them up to be able to grease the bushings. I have a series of videos on how to do that to the stock Ford power running boards. The process will also apply to the AMP boards. The playlist is here: kzfaq.info/sun/PLoz-2IH4A2KsZiDXB0f-hhKZtAzO_wuO_

I just installed the rolling big power stealth boards on my truck. I didn't want to use an obd splitter so I went with RBP. Mine do tuck up underneath the truck so you can't see them at all. I will say that it does expose some bolts the factory boards covered up. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you plan on swapping out the xl's.

So the video is awesome and all and thanks for the share however try to be specific and straightforward to the point of your presentation or video log because no one wants to know about your dog, four wheelers, air planes and etc... all we want to know is how you trouble shooter your amp steps everything else is just a waste of information lol its just an advice not roasting you. Over all good job and thanks again.

Why do the the steps need to be plugged into the OBD2 port? I never knew that. I’m looking to get a set soon for my lifted Excursion.
@GRAPPAHOLICS4 жыл бұрын
These are the plug and play version I believe that plug in to the OBD2 so that the know when the door is open and closed. There’s a hard wire version that can be wired into the door sensors I believe.

Thanks for this info. I’m tryna help a coworker get the driver side board working on an 05 silv. We only took off the passenger side and did work to the passenger side. We’re perplexed. Think it’s the sensor in the door latch, as the plug for the motor never ever sees 12V

I am literally experiencing the same issues with my amp steps. And I’m rolling on an 8” with 38s x 15.5. So when they don’t work, my old big ass struggles to jump up. This video should help me out. I’m also leaning towards a ground issue due to the fact that most of my issues happen when it rains or I’m slinging mud. Any advice helps. Thanks 🤝

If you have had your steps longer then 10 years, I would recommend replacing the module. See YTV Problematic amp steps fixed with this updated control module?! 7.3 powerstroke HUGE build! by NoHalfAss. I followed his steps, contacted AMP Research and paid for a new module and my steps work like new again.

@SG-bb8pq3 жыл бұрын
@@GRAPPAHOLICS I found out what the issue was after I tore apart my drivers door to change out the door latch...which i didn't need to. It was a broken wire underneath the step panel by the hood latch. Good to go! Thank you for the reply.

I have 2018 Chevy Silverado that had battery issue. I changed my battery and the power steps were stuck in the up position. My steps are the plug and play that attach to the ODB2 port. Turns out the issue was a blown fuse going to the ODB2 plug. Replaced fuse and all is well now.

What’s your opinion on steering stabilizers? And did you re-gear?
@GRAPPAHOLICS4 жыл бұрын
Ian Webber I have been pleased with my dual steering stabilizers, but I haven’t driven on 40s without them to tell a difference. I feel like they work as advertised though because my steering is pretty tight. I have not regeared, but it would definitely help for fuel mileage around town and if I was towing regularly. Does just fine on the 3:55s, but it could be better.
@ianwebber73164 жыл бұрын
GRAPPAHOLICS Would you consider a video driving without the stabilizers? Or is that too much work? I’m just curious of their actual impact. Have you had any “death wobble”?

Ian Webber That is a great idea. I will try to do that when I have some time
