I loved this movie on several levels: First, most people have no clue what WWI and WWII were like and how much they continued to affect everyone's lives mentally and physically after the wars actually ended. This covers a lot of situations and struggles that really happened. People found ways to cope with and survive hard lives they didn't ask for or deserve. So much was lost on so many levels. The filmography, script, timing, all seemed really great to me. And yes, the AMAZING ACTORS really made this an even more amazing movie.

THIS. This is a very underappreciated talent of his. Exhibit A; I tried to watch Greta gerwigs little women with all of those really famous and well known actors, but I just couldn't get into it because it felt like the actors were just playing dress up and house with each other. So Im sure this will be a good movie because these actors know to shape shift, Anya Taylor joy, Rami Malek and Bale especially. If by "long time" you mean a couple of months then sure. Great cast and has good potential, but I wouldn't say we don't get at least once a year a film with at least 10 industry famous and respected actors.

I loved this movie - just finished watching it for the second night in a row, that good. I found the first time I had a hard time following the story... I always felt a step behind understanding what was going on. I think if they added some character name captions on screen as they appear that would have helped a lot (they do it with some random dudes at the end that didn't matter). Such a treasure of a film tho! Historical, rich, comical, lovely.

This movie is awesome! The story, the actors, the richness of the sets, the colouring... everything is great! Christian Bale is hilarious as usual. That man still has so much potential, but the rest of the cast is equally wonderful.

That isn't true. There is clear overlap in emotional outbursts, mannerisms etc. throughout his movies. The Machinist i.e. Trevor Reznik, Russell Baze in out of the Furnace and Dieter Dengler in Rescue Dawn are very similar. characters

when a lot of big names agree to work together on a movie that isn't a money-cow franchise blockbuster or isn't exclusively filmed in Las Vegas, you can expect the script and production to be really good quality

Love that scene in which John D. Washington goes, "Get your hands off me." A true cinephile will love the connection of that scene with the other(a soldiers story).

Christian Bale is a one in a generation actor. He has put his body through so many different transformations and is still going strong! This man has range, now that he has portrayed Gorr, he can do anything! This looks really good! I love these types of movies! And the cast is stellar!

Even without Bale, Robbie and Washington that is an elite star cast. However, those 3 main characters stand out even more. I'm very excited for this movie.

Well, David O'Russell sure knows how to tell the story in the movie language. Enjoyed it all the time. And got informed at the same time too. Didn't know what happened between tvo World Wars in USA, something that could change the history and the life that we have now for worse. Actors are great - Margot Robbie...Christian Bale is awesome.... Highly recomended to watch.

I know someone who worked on the set of "American Hustle" who's said the truly worst aspects of Russell's behavior still hasn't seen the light of day yet and I know someone else who was forced to sign an NDA after Russell assaulted him on the set of "Joy" simply for accidentally bumping into him.

Ooh! I'm intrigued! I wanna know how these three met, what dilemma they got themselves into and how the heck this story will unfold cuz it's got a BIG cast and that usually tends to be messy or all over the place cuz you have to get the right dialogue for the right actor otherwise it's not gonna flow. But this one seems like they meet certain people at a certain time that in the end they will all end up crossing each others paths creating a bigger problem than it was intended to be. And that's got me very interested. And it's got David O. Russell all over it? SOLD! Even better is that it stated that it's based on events that actually happened. So yes. I will definitely watch this.
