As one of the light novel enjoyers my self, I was thrilled as I herd about the announcement of season 4

This anime is what got me started into reading light novels. At the end of season 3, I had only one thought: I want more. The world building and characters are all top-notch. I am very much looking forward to season 4.

This is really one of the best written isekai out there. The author took a lot of care into letting story and lore slow burn and develop naturally as opposed to just throwing you in at the deep end straight away. The power creep also feels good since, despite how unnatural Myne is, there's an in universe reason that justifies why she becomes so powerful. Her abundance of and inability to control her mana starts to become a running joke for the reader as we see her go from one abnormal event to another. Something we really start getting a taste of by the end of season 3 in the anime.

So glad it has been announced that studio Wit is doing season 4, can't wait.

I really love just how deep the world is. EVERYTHING in AoaB has a deeper meaning or reason behind it and the people are likewise deep. Myne herself might be OP but not because of just being gifted and what she does have always comes with drawbacks. Her mana for example is overwhelming but the cost of that is all of that power eats away at her health and original (non-reincarnated soul) Myne actually did die because of her own magic. The other thing is the nobility in this world rule through their magic as almost everything needs mana to function on some level. There is a lot more to the magic here than firing off spells like a video game mage. This noble culture is extremely self serving and views everything through a political lens. This shows itself right away in the show and gives more than enough context to explain why many nobles are very bad people while others are just along for the ride. This might be a spoiler, but the main villain of this series, that is, the one most responsible for all of the bad things Myne is going to have to deal with doesn't actually have any real screen time.

Me when someone talks about Ascedance of a Bookworm: 🏃 It do be pretty bussin'. I would not have kept up with the light novels if it wasn't that good.

Criminally Underated isekai!!!

Counter point. Heros journey plot. All basically the exaxt same mold and is oversaturated but yet people don't complaign about those. I think the reason isekai is hated isn't because of what you said. Well actually it is for what you said but deep down what it really is, is the fact that isekai at its core is more about building relations while also figuring out the world instead of heros journey where it's mainly about the mc slowly getting stronger. And just like a show like Christmas Carol where there is millions of slight variations of the same thing that feel so different from each other if you actually watch a show for what it's trying to feel at it's core then you might come with a bigger appreciation for what it is. But this is just my observation of course I know nothing of the world as I'm very secluded and mainly under a rock partially due to upbringing and my circumstances. And no something isn't for everyone however if you look at the genre from the lens of relationships first powers second it'll make more sense as to why despite being "hated" it actually is arguably more successfully than heros journey

Bookworm is a completed and freely available web novel.

The latter parts get a lot longer and I really hope the 4th season will either only cover part of part 3 or be 24-25 episodes instead of 12-13 as I don't want them to rush through it. There'll be plenty of new characters and if they don't get fleshed out enough it could be really damaging as they will stick around a long time.

Ah yes, my third favorite anime.

I really can't recommend the light novels enough. They are well written and have a lot more nice little worldbuilding in it and are a lot farther along (almost finished) and the anime would take years to get as far if it even stays around long enough.

This one looks cute. I think a friend in my anime group mentioned this one and may show it to us soon. (We do a round-robin setup.) I'm looking forward to it now, even if its not my usual style. Regarding the upcoming season 3, I appreciate how when a studio drops an anime, how there are often other studios to pick it up. This isn't common in the USA as I understand. As frustrating as it is when there are art style changes, etc, i'm glad that these shows can keep pushing forward.

Reincarnated as A Sword is A really good Isekai.

While the show is massively underappreciated (especially in the west), it should be mentioned that the novel actually won the best novel award multiple years in a row in Japan, so the story is not quite the underdog it feels like here in the west. And there are very good reasons for all these awards, the writing, characters and world are masterfully crafted, to the point that not many stories can even come close to competing with it.

I love the series, manga, light novel, and anime. I am thrilled that a Seadon 4 is underdevelopment. The series (manga and Light Novel) Apothecary Diaries, especially the ongoing Season 1 anime is terrific. I find Maomao and Myne, obsessed gremlins to be adorable albeit different. I hope the new anime rises to or exceeds the art, music, voice actors in Apothecary Diaries. While the series seems historical, that is merely a convenient way to quickly introduce a new world sort of like the European Medieval background of most Isakai.

I really liked the beginning and then I just kinda got bored and quit watching in s2. Or maybe I would’ve done the same even if I had loved s2 as much as s1. I am a (former) bookworm though so of course I would love the bookworm isekai. I do plan on getting back to the series at some point soon. Glad to hear there’s a s4 in the works.

Isekai can be derivative & go for low hanging fruit. But sometimes a true gem outshines the rest & this is one of them.

It is it made me buy the light novels, it is dark but i like that aspect give bit of realism if you live in a strict feudal society.

Neat show I actually forgot it was an isekai because it's actually good and not some op MC with a harem in another world isekai 😂

Season 01 of the anime is what got me into the Light Novels (LNs), I even got a J-Novel membership to be "ahead of the curve". As much as I like the anime, it tends to gloss over some things that the LNs (& Manga) go MUCH more in depth on. The ending of Season 02 I felt was weak, considering all the time devoted to that particular scene in the LN. I await season 04, I'm curious how Lessy & Brigette will be animated.

Oh great, another person thinking Urano simply inhabits her body🙄😒. As a Light Novel reader, this always gives me a migraine. It's pretty early established that Urano IS Myne and doesn't just inhabit the body. If you don't believe me it's already heavily implied in a post-epilogue sidestory in the very first LN volume. The truth behind her reincarnation is brought up and expanded upon throughout the story. But it's established pretty early on, even though the MC doesn't know it herself thinking she did infact inhabit the body until waaaay later when she starts questioning her knowledge about her reincarnation.

Only thing that annoys me is that myne only thinks of books and trivial things instead of trying to improve the power dynamic and the lives of the lower class, hair ornaments and shampoo are seriously the first things she can come up with?

To be fair out of the one you mention earlyer slime and sword are in good tier list and spider is on the great tier list a least in the ln/wn version and a lot of average and bad isekai anime have good ln /wn version it just that a lot are just ad for the ln and so is done verey poorly

isekai can be done really well the market is just oversaturated with trash tier copy pastes.

Not to mention that the light novels are also leagues better than the Anime.

Hold on. Did you just describe the movie Nobody as a burger? Have you lost your mind? It's, at the very least, a good slice of pizza. It is far better than Extraction and it's sequel. And much better than John Wick 2. The first John Wick, amazing. It's sequel? I remember like 3 scenes. But to refer to Nobody as a burger? Get yourself together man. I do find it odd that this is my take away from this video, and that my taste do not reflect the norm, which from what I have seen, everyone and the mother enjoys John Wick 2. At least enough that a 3rd was made, which I have not and probably will not watch. I think John Wick worked great as a stand alone movie.
