super intersting, I can see my UI16 mixer wireless 2.4ghz interfering with this.

Would be nice if it also had a magnetic pickup built in. Probably just what my ear is use to but I like the SM57. It seems to sit in the middle from the bright clarity of the internal mic and the warmth of the MBHO 440. I think a stereo pair of sE8's are in my future.

Nice video. Thanks! informative from a knowledgeable person. This thing looks pretty awesome to me. Major drawback i see, is that the receiver doesnt appear to be able to run on a battery. Maybe the power draw makes that impossible? idk. but if i wanted to make insta videos anywhere with a zoom recorder and a camera, the wireless is so cool, but needing a power outlet totally kills that aspect. Maybe theyll release one like that? idk, but it would be really cool.

Alex...thoroughly amazing. I'm a great fan....just got a bit taken over with technical terms but that's b'cos I'm a beginner....need to catch up a bit. I'm really looking at connecting my acoustic guitars to my Presonus Audiobox USB96 and so looking to hear from you on what is the best pickup/mic for this to happen...I sent you an email with pictures. Appreciate your thoughts on it. Thanks a ton !

what do you use to blend in the mic signal? are you able to use the unit itself utilizing that seperate line-in jack on the right? or do you have a separate summing preamp? anything in particular that would work well in a live setting short of 2 complete rigs?

How are you controlling the mix of the two signal sources? Are you using each separate source's gain knob to blend? Because the "blend" knob on the preamp itself is for the EFX, right? It's in the EFX column and has a "D" (dry) to the left and "W" (wet) to the right. The Cloudvocal documentation even states the blend knob is for "controlling the balance of dry and wet signal." Meaning the amount of effect in the signal. A tad confusing.

You’re correct. You blend the pickup sources with the two gain controls. The actual blend knob is only for effects.

Hello Alex, I had my first listen to this isolo system about 2 years ago. Ive been taken with its naked sound reproduction. I am starting to look for one at this time. I am wondering if you found the battery stay up on its charge? How are you still going with the system and is there anything new on the market that would compete with the isolo? I like the goose neck idea as I am a stickler for tones in my recordings. Thanks for any help, I would very much appreciate that bit of guidance with this system from your own perspective of using one for a while now? Ta mate :-)

The battery still holds full charge as it did when it was new. I just used it last week with the Pittsburgh Symphony and my classical guitar. If you’re recording guitar at home, you’ll still be better off with an external mic even something like an SM57. The cloudvocal system is my favorite though for live performance with minimal stage volume

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet, but-doesn’t it make a difference where the sound hole pick is placed? Closer to the neck or in the middle of the sound hole. All of the pickups you’re reviewing sound great depending on the the situation. Thanks- Alex. 🎧

Yep! Definitely experiment with mic placement as that’ll affect tone a lot.

Would I be able to switch use it for a violin mic with the violin clamp and pair it to the preamp when I wanted to play violin, then put it back in the guitar holder when I wanted guitar, or are the transmitters different? If they are, could I pair multiple transmitters to a receiver? I’m not thinking of using them at the same time, but I’m wondering if I’d have to buy to whole units, one for violin and another for guitar

The guitar version has the mic on the gooseneck, while the violin version (I also have a demo of that on my channel) has the mic built in to the body of the transmitter. I think you'd be good buying one kit and using it on both instruments. I would buy the version for violin (since then you get a piezo pickup input on the transmitter too) and then see if you can buy the rubber mounts to fit it to your guitar. Check out my violin demo and see if you like that idea.

It is a lot but I don’t think it’s over the top by any standard. Think about what you’d be putting in for a quality mic ($200 the Myers pickup is comparable) and mid-tier wireless ($150) alone. You’re also getting a high impedance preamp, EQ, and reverb - similar to but maybe not as comprehensive as standalone products that LR Baggs and Fishman offer in the $200-400 range.
