An artsy paper LICENSE PLATE makes a great junk journal card

Join me today as I put a fun spin on the humble license plate and personalize it for use in a junk journal. Wouldn’t these be fun to send to friends in different places? Or to put in a travel journal with notes about things you did when you were there? If you’re doing any traveling this summer, please consider doing some license plate journal cards and using the maps and brochures you pick up along the way!

If you’re looking for more junk journal ponderings…. Last summer, I made a limited-series podcast about all my deep thoughts regarding junk journaling. It’s free on the Spotify app! Search for “Ordinary Paper” or link here:
podcasters.spotify.com/pod/da...
Note that in the first episode, I mention that I was doing a podcast because I didn’t think I had enough ideas for a KZfaq channel. Things (happily) went a different way, so ummm, never mind on that!

oooo-what a great idea for my Camper Adventures journal. I need to make Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio! Also listening to you talk about the Douglas Fir: I worked a summer in Yellowstone when I was in college. After seeing nothing but Lodge Pole Pines and Douglas Firs for months I couldn't wait to hug an Oak Tree when I got home 😂🌳

Hi, and thanks so much for watching! I do enjoy the Douglas Firs, and I get such a kick out of how people get chummy and call them "Doug Firs" - but I agree, the good old oak trees deserve lots of hugs, too! Have fun making yours - they'll turn out great!

I like this idea. My husband keeps a list of all the states we've visited it would be fun to do up the license plates for each. I could use the year we visited as part of the numbers.

I was awake at 3:30 am was it, when I saw your video! Nice company. Your talk about Mt St Helens. I lived on Whidbey in WA and could see Ranier from various vantage points. Going to camp near St Helens we were not allowed in bc at that time many studies were being done concerning the volcano. About 3 years prior to the event. That was surreal anyway but added to it. In traveling from a young age on up, as we traversed highways where we lived or as we crossed through states, it was always a game to see what states were represented by license plates. See what memories this invoked😊. And the plates you made look great! Very creative use of the two papers to get the silhouette of the mountains. And yes, this would be the better way to be making “license plates”! What a great idea! And I read other comments - much appreciation here! ❤

You are a genius anne. Never thought of a license plate. I'm doing a journal for my daughter and one page will be on NJ and the other philly and one MA Cape cod. I have maps and postcards for all three and these will be the journalling cards. Thanks so much for this brillant idea.😊❤

I remember when that license plate was designed. It was a competition. The first one had an orange/peachy sky, and very shortly afterward, it was changed to the lavender. I was in middle school.

Since you live in Oregon it might be worth your time to find a perfect picture (from your travel brochures) of a Douglas fir tree. Cut it out and adhere it to the sticky side of fun foam. Then cut it out and use the other side as a stamp.

I love this idea, Anne! Thanks for sharing! When you stamp the left side numbers, I'd suggest starting with the last number and go backwards. That way you determine the space needed for that edge. Happy Easter! Sue 😊❤
