Your room is your problem in all honesty. I just googled the price of Still points and couldnt believe the cost. Im stunned how people spend so much on equipment and tweeks but do nothing to their room. The windows and width of your room is killing your sound. Is it really right to be sitting a headphone amp on top of another amp as heat rises? Forget isolation spend it on your room.

The windows have acoustic blinds that pull down for listening. The McIntosh barely gets warm on top and the section the headphone amp sits on is solid and Luke warm at best. The speakers have 3 feet behind them at to the sides (which is plenty) and the ceilings are 11 ft high. I actually bought acoustic panels for the back wall which are arriving tomorrow & HFT pucks from synergistic research which I also mention in the video here, are next. Boy, thanks for setting me straight BoredSilly! 😂👊🏆🎼✨

Hi👋🏼😁, You're 💯correct @BoredSilly the first step is your room treatment before going nutz😨 spending money in audio equipment but I'm pretty sure @vpconcepts know this already great point👍🏼. I enjoy watching your channel vpconcepts👍🏼😁👽✌🏼

@@vpconcepts9838 I would recommend at least 150mm thick panels. Having tried 50mm, then moved up to 100mm, then 150mm the difference in performance is big. Standing moveable panels would be fine for the windows, You can even make them yourself to a good standard at a fraction of the cost👍 1st reflection points and ceiling first is a good place to start

Fantastic video. So glad I watched this. I just started trying isolation feet. I put Sorbothane feet under my audioquest 1200. That was fine. I put Sorbothane feet under my Bluesound node and it sucked the life out of it. Took those off and everything returned. Waiting for some isoacustic pucks to try under my Vincent tube preamp. So watching you was great. Thanks. I have a small system but want to get the most from it.

Your advice is pure gold! Absolutely spot on regarding rubber and glass. Sometimes your equipment/device doesn't need "isolation", but will benefit more from the resonances from the rack or base to liven up the sound. I wish manufacturers started using more easily detachable footers, because sometimes those silicone tipped "feet" can make the product sound absolutely awful. Before anyone starts bashing this video, I urge them to try putting their amp or cd-player on the floor, if it doesn't make an audible difference, congratulations, you don't need to spend another dime on cables or other snake oil! If anyone is curious, using socket wrench extensions versus wooden blocks, can also make a huge difference. All the best and happy listening... /;;/

Ive found sometimes using a budget RCA(not low quality), under $100 can help change some of the issues you mentioned as well. Give it a shot might even save some money, and have another way to tune the system. My system is Mid-Range/Vintage so keep that in mind. Subscribed and enjoyed the Vid 🤙.

In my extremely revealing audio system, I found that the more isolation devices I use under each component, the more I experience greater and increased sound quality improvements. I don't buy super expensive isolation devices either. I found that the very reasonably priced Vibrapod isolation feet and cones to be extremely effective, and got the job done quite nicely. I have the Vibrapods under all my components including my audio switch and power conditioner. Under my Hegel H590 integrated amp, I combined the Vibrapod feet and cones for even greater isolation. With the Vibrapods in my system, I found that they do not restrict dynamics, slam or anything else, but amazingly have just the opposite effect by improving: dynamics, slam, detail retrieval, transparency, etc,. Many years ago, I was enlightened by a great old audiophile and former high end audio shop owner of the virtues of isolation devices, for which I am eternally grateful. Since then, Vibrapods (my brand of choice) have been a must in any high end audio systems that I've put together. Those that consider isolation devices as being merely nothing more than some sort of "Snake oil," are really missing out.

Isolation can play a tremendous part in sound. I also used Vibrapods, but the other day during an equipment rearrangement, I noticed an oily film they left under the feet of my streamer/server. Just something I have to be aware of, like every other part of the hobby.

This video popped up at just the right time. I was about to purchase either sorbothane hemispheres or audioquest q feet for my cd player, but this video got me looking up the vibrapods, and I've ordered some. If they work, I might try some of the vibrocones to add to them too

I just use industrial steel kitchen prep tables on six inch rubber wheels. The wheels make cleaning/rear access easy as they isolate/insulate my gear. Softer elastomers are like driving a BMW that chews up exotic suspension bushings.

We’re both hanging onto this beautiful weather here in the PNW, it can make it hard to listen to our stereo’s when we know we have a limited amount of time left before the rain comes back. Very through and informative video, I firmly believe in isolation products, it’s interesting that removing the still points on some of your components, it brought some vibrance back to your system. By chance, you have any advice of a direction to go in, in our geographic area (45 mi south of Portland) to get in the audio industry, ie: HiFi locations (few far between), remote sales perhaps?? Thanks for your time and good video.

It's beautiful out! Going walking today. The only couple stores I've been to in town were disappointing. There is one in Gig Harbor that looks pretty nice. And we do have Definitive Audio, that's kind of a big box store format, but still nice. Thanks for watching Nathan, I really appreciate the support! 👌💯🎼✨

Why please tell me why, you want to put a tube amp on the transformer off an other amp
@vpconcepts9838
@vpconcepts9838 Жыл бұрын
Its not on the transformer. The autoformers are located in the front left & right of the McIntosh, and transformer in front between those. The area below the tube amp is just metal covering. I hope that answered your question. Thanks for watching r ano. 👌🎼✨

If you want to take your HP valve amp to the next level, combine your vibrapods with vibrapods cones. Wow! Working in tandem, they are almost magical.

Brill video. I have been looking for isolation. Came across Townshend seismic isolation platforms. The inventor says, spikes, are no good. They are still in contact with the base of something which leads to the ground and ground noise, etc, back up to your unit. He had made isolation platforms with springs. As to minimise any interference. Check out his KZfaq videos.

Hi, great video, tnx for your time! Is thease sonos faber sonetto viii? I have sonetto viii and wanted to add isoacoustics gaia 3 under them. If I heard right, you did use them, how did it work out? What did you preferd in the end and what changed in the sound. Thanks in advance and good luck in this fun journey,🤞👍

I just found your channel - great content! One question however, could part of the issue of the headphone amp sounds be related to spurious radiation / emissions from the McIntosh it is sitting on? have you listened with the amp in a different location?
@vpconcepts9838
@vpconcepts9838 4 ай бұрын
Yup, and the spot it sits on the McIntosh is just empty space below it. The transformer & autoformers are in the front, so nothing to interfere with it. 👍💯🎼✨

Unbelievable... Well at least the review stuck to the sound changes to the headphone amp. ❤Does the headphone amp have to sit on the amplifier? Did you try wads of £££ as isolation? I know that material is getting harder to find these days😅 I'll have to dig out my vibrapods. Ron at NRD just did a part on not wasting more £ on equipment until the ROOM is properly treated . This room sounds too lively. Let's see what you can do with the treatment episode.... 🎶🤔🎶
@vpconcepts9838
@vpconcepts9838 4 ай бұрын
I had the windows open for the review. There are Acoustic blinds that come down & the wall has room treatments installed. The reason the tube amp is on the McIntosh, are the still points underneath. Also, it's pretty much empty underneath that section. I ended up going back to stillpoints a week later. Just can't beat them under each component, once you get them right! Thanks for watching. 👌🎼✨
