I shall incorporate one of these types of Pro Level heavy duty scan tools to my "due diligence" process (i.e., Dyno Test, Fluids Analysis, Maintenance Report, VIN search, Compression Test, DOT Inspection, Chassis Inspection, etc.) for purchasing and maintaining the maintenance of semi-trucks (i.e., Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbuilt, Kenworth, International, etc.). Great tool for high maintenance "minded" Fleet Owners and Owner Operators! Great mention of the scan tool not being able to identify (exactly) which cylinder is misfiring (for V10s)...HUGE!

I just got my X-431 V+ scan tool today partly because of this video, part research, and partly because a friend has a Matco scanner, broke the screen, he took it apart, searched the number on the back of the screen, it popped up as a Launch part. He also bought a bigger hard drive to upgrade it also made by Launch. Launch makes at least one Matco scanner and it's not a cheap one, he has $8,000.00 invested in it.

I noticed that you did not talk about any lab scope features do you know if there is a extra thing you can buy so you can use this scanner to scope things out? I am looking for a good bi-directional scan tool that has scoping abilities if you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Yes, Launch sells a video scope that connects to the X431 scanner, sold separately of course...

Ibot one last November x-431v+ after your in putand outher reviews and I hav been happy with it till now . the tablet dosen't have enough memory to take up grades ihave done 1 up grade and out of room can you delete the memory and reload the new program I took it apart and found a sd slot so you use that to get moe space you have had yous longe so I assume you have see this problem. Do you have any outher solution's thanks if you can give any info

Hey, Steph seams to be difficult to find a launch USA scanner most are China versions where people bought through Amazon even when stated ( sold by launch direct ) witch folks are having tech support issues and no luck on English support and if any device issues would have to deal with launch China and absolutely no launch USA support. my question is if I order mine though your provided link witch directs me to Amazon will it be a USA version? Witch I won't have tech support issues like the Chinese version? Thank you God bless.

I just checked a 1992 Chevy C3500 today. It didn't auto recognize the VIN, I had to try a few different ways but I finally got it and found out that the truck is in open loop all the time. O2 sensor bad.

Will this tool allow turning off the AFM / DOD systems on GM vehicles? My 07 has this feature on a 5.3 and they are prone to problems.

You can send your pcm off to lt1swap.com and he will. Use hptuners to deactivate it. I recommend the afm delete kit as well

From a professional mechanic to another , what we actually need that snapon and basically every other bidirectional scanner can't do , and what I want in a scan tool is the ability to install a used pcm, ecm ,abk, airbag module and be able to rewrite the vin from a used module are these able to do that if so I will buy it right now this second oh and vin rewrite in dodge ficm modules and for me mainly interested in ford and Chrysler????

You can do it with the Ford IDS scanner. Your not supposed to be able to but you can if you know how to fool it into think the pcm is “blank”. Don’t know about Chrysler

Probably, If you want tool exclusively for Ford a HS/MS ELM327 OBD (Bluetooth or Wired) is a great cheap alternative with Forscan Software. *Don't buy cheap knock offs Look for OBD LINK or similar quality companies.

To connect to the OEM website and buy a 3 day subscription for downloads. The tool needed is a "Flash Reprogrammer." With other software, it is possible to read and alter the program. But a flash reprogrammer box plugged into a computer is required.

Looking at the x431 pro and the x431 upgraded version. Can you tell me what the difference is between them. Have heard some horror stories on buying these from Amazon .

Function is same if you only works on light cars. V+ come with extra heavy truck software but more expensive

my problem is my car is a 2020, and nobody has any database on it yet... maybe the $4500 Snap-On, but I am not able to get one of those.

I've been looking at a decent scan tool, pawn got a snap on for a 1000 but needs upgraded think this one would suit me for my need just fine or is the snap on worth the extra $

9500 GVW's may require the "heavy duty" box. To run between the OBD port and the Launch X431 V+, and some other scan tool models. My wife's 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 with a 10,000# GVW. Does, work just as well as my 2020 Dodge Durango, and my 2016 Ram 1500.

I keep hearing horror stories of not being able to update the launch scanner dur to being a Chinese version over the USA version. I'm really wanting one but I'm not gonna invest the money if it's not going to be able to update after the 1 year

Can you reprogram a power electronic steering on a chevy cruze 2013? my steering wheel go solid when it turns hot when driven for a while! Code B101E, C0454, U0121. Any suggestions? Am Not a mechanic, would assemble it myself And see if i can reprogramming it. It cost $5,000 at chevy dealer to fix my problem, and $1,075 the rack and pinion with module. (Eyes) (saving me some money) KZfaq videos helps for beginners 👍.

Stephen I'm looking into these and am told that the alot of these scanner that claim to be launch arent. If you go to Launch tech USA website. I dont see a scanner that looks like the one your showing. If rather not buy a knock off but also dont wanna have to pay tool truck prices. Im a bit confused on what's what. If this works and updates I guess it doesnt matter tbh I just dont wanna drop a grand on something and its a Chinese knock off that I cant call Launch with any problems

If you go to Launch Tech USA website, it's actually in Ontario Canada... And ALL Launch products are manufactured in China! Unfortunately, the United States is now a consumer nation... Sad as it is, we manufacture very little in this country anymore!

The only issue I see with these is they are not supported by Launch Tech USA. The ones sold on Amazon are one from China. Have you had any issues with dealing the Chinese suppliers?

@@GameCastCubed fair, some bmws require a fuel system bleed via diagnostics. If air gets in the system it can damage parts apparently.
