The People's Court

The plaintiff hired the defendant to monogram his dress shirts with his initials on the cuffs. However, when the plaintiff picked them up, he says the monograms were plastered on the front of the shirts instead, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff never explained that he wanted the monograms on the cuffs, so he denies owing anything.

I'm someone who likes to dress like I have someplace better to go later. I understand his frustration. Most of my shirts are tailored and this is my worst nightmare. I would never take 26 shirts to someone I've never worked with before. He probably should have taken 1 to see what type of work they do to avoid this fiasco. Hindsight is 20/20.

I agree 👍🏾 No way I'm giving ovet two Dozen of my dress shirts at once to "see" how good a job, they do....that's just CRAZY. In fairness though the price for 1-2 probably isn't feasibly an order they would take. I would imagine you'd probably have to at least do 6 aka half a dozen....at a much higher cost per item.....maybe even 10-12 could be minimum. Remember they are sending these out and there will be minimums onesie twosies always COST more....but IMO ....it is worth that "investment" aka like insurance cost to 👀 see how the 1st dozen-half dozen come out vs 🔥 yer whole stack Too often ppl do X trying to get "the best deal" vs testing the waters 1st and perhaps 🔥 a little cash.....this is exactly why so many ppl just will not invest a few bucks in used car inspections "before" they spend Y....same thing....trying to save and now my man's wardrobe is gonna be used for paint 🎨 rags vs losing 6 shirts 😮

I'm a designer and I couldn't imagine printing on a customer's clothes without knowing size and placement. That's a mandatory job function. Usually people send proofs to the customer beforehand to get cleared before they start printing. Not only that, the customer dresses pretty peculiar. I don't see him NOT being meticulous about his custom clothing.

The woman outside -- the designer would have to go by his instincts. OMG what an idiot! The designer makes CERTAIN that he knows the EXACT size, color, font, placement -- EVERYTHING -- before doing even one shirt. If there are any questions at all, he calls the customer to confirm every minute detail. Then he does one shirt and shows it to the customer to make sure it's correct before doing the remaining 25. The utter lack of professionalism on the part of defendant is unbelievable. And the utter lack of a measurable IQ for that woman is also unbelievable.

No, she couldn't. As she always says, it's about making someone whole. Those weren't brand new shirts so why would he get the value of a new shirt when if someone sues for a 2016 tv, they get the value of the tv used and not a brand new one? The fault is on him for just writing down numbers instead of showing the value to replace each shirt the same way that if someone sues for 10 video games, a sane person would show "This game is valued at this, the next one is this" and not a blank spreadsheet with numbers. He apparently already looked the prices up online so all he had to do was include a link to the listing. Really showing why some of you would be horrible judges.

I guarantee when he goes out to a nice restaurant for a steak dinner, of course, he tells them EXACTLY how he wants his meal prepared right? (On flip side, yes, of course, the Defendant should have called the guy to get specific instructions, but he should have to do this!! Most customers with any kind of common sense are going to automatically tell a place how they want something done, right? Why the Plaintiff didn’t, I don’t know? But he looked even worse showing up with NO PROOF at all other than just writing some numbers on a piece of paper!!! lol!! Why do some people feel they can stroll into court with no evidence at all, but then get mad when the Judge (who still ruled in his favor, but don’t ask me why) don’t give them $$$ they were seeking!! This was like watching a cartoon. I got more laughs out of JMM. You could tell she enjoyed the actions between two people. But when it came to ruling . Law stepped in her judgement. That defendant did seem to let it bother her. She'll pay and that will end everything permanently.

I don't think so but I'm surprised he chose black as the color for the embroidery on all 26 shirts. I would have selected a color based on the color of the threads running through each individual shirt.

That business sucks at doing business. Have a customer sign a contract regarding the font, the font size, the location, the thread color etc….
