Nothing in a grid-based puzzle game is scarier than breaking the grid. It's like the whole point of guessing what happens next in any puzzle game and everything you've learnt is broken (not literally tho). But that's what make it differs, and that's really cool.

The clone mechanic is actually simple: when you enter it, you enter every clone, but when you exit it, you only exit the main
@UltraLuigi2401

For me it makes more sense to not think of clones as levels since you're never inside a clone at all. It's like when making a shortcut for a big program, you're not creating a second program with 10 new gigabytes of data, it just contains a link that redirects to the program.

I like to think of it as a proxy to the real level, similar to the ones used in computer networks. It pretends to be the real level by (visually) mimicing its contents but it redirects every interaction (entering the proxy) to the real level and does that implicitly and seamlessly.

As a person who like programming, the clone isn't actually different from the main level. The only difference is on exiting the level: you can't end up in 2 places at once (at least not yet, I guess), so there always has to be exactly one place for you to exit. That's the main level. It only matters for exits, as far as I can tell.

I've been wondering if anything special happens if you leave trash in the void, though this game has virtually no trash as every piece I remember so far has participated in solutions I wonder if any parts are needed for only part of a solution and then *can* be retrieved then thrown in the void before completion, like the recursive levels you can push out of themselves, where the goals can be all completed... maybe the player goal needs to be in... hmm

I'm not sure I understand, why did the green block void at 10:18?
@michaelchristenson3302
@michaelchristenson3302 2 жыл бұрын
Because the blue box, which represents the entire level, was at the same edge. The green box left the level, so it exited the blue box, which immediately ejected it from the level again. That was an infinite loop, so to the void with it.
@JrTroopa
@JrTroopa 2 жыл бұрын
Ahh never mind, it's because the recursive blue was against the same edge.
@UltraLuigi2401
@UltraLuigi2401 2 жыл бұрын
Basically the void represents exiting infinity (that's why when in the void you see a block that is the level marked with the inifinity symbol, because it represents the infinite copies of the level inside itself. When the level is up against an edge, exiting from that edge causes you (or anything being pushed) to exit the infinite copies at the same time, forcing it into the void. You may notice that this explanation opens up a new possibility; all I'll say is that the game does explore that possibility.

You know how you cause a paradox by doing infinitely many exits at once? What if you entered infinitely many times at once? You could try putting a level inside itself, at the edge of itself, but instead of trying to make the level exit itself, enter through a clone. Make sure you don't just push the box into the level while entering. The inner copy needs to be blocked by a wall.

At its extreme, it would just be button mashing, basically rote memorization. That said, a human would have to have mnemonics at the very least, and memorizing easier levels is unnecessary

Very boring in my opinion. Watching someone play a puzzle by memory instead of actually watching them solve it is boring. At least that's what I think

I think the reason you keep stumbling over explaining the clone mechanic is because you're focused on entering. Entering a non-clone block and entering its clone actually has exactly the same effect - you enter the level associated with the block. It's *exiting* that level that shows the difference - you always come out of the non-clone (this also has the cosmetic effect that it's the non-clone's surroundings that are shown in the background, of course).

That’s not wrong, but the way it’s portrayed in the text levels (and the grid view) is that there’s one level that can be entered from any of the references to that level. Also there are real-life parallels to this such as pointers in computer science, which are variables that point to another variable. On a technical level you are correct though.
