In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - In 1976, Owen Husney became Prince's first manager after hearing the demo tape he had recorded at Chris Moon's studio. Husney had experience in pop music that went back 15 years, starting when he was in a pop group himself. He financed the recording of a new demo tape, which led to Prince's deal with Warner Bros., said to be the biggest recording contract up to that time for a solo artist with the exception of Johnny Winter.

Damn... it's really a shame this man is not the president of some major label. By the sound of it, I bet the music industry and the quality of the music released would be much better if he was.

The best advice I have heard yet, a truly outstanding interview. My son is 16 plays all the instruments, sings & writes his own music and lyrics. And the girls, oh the girls love this kid. He's Elvis,Prince, and Justin Bieber rolled into 1. So when he makes it and he will (he never gives up) remember his name ZAKK (Giordano) MORGAN google it I promise you will agree.

I'm glad I saw this interview. I learned a lot. I am of the firm belief AND I've often said what Mr. Husney said at 19:07---Prince might be "one of those Beethoven, Mozart guys---he is of that ilk". The prodigy, the passion, the devotion to his music and the many genres he spanned with his virtuosity. I have been saying the same for many years and people looked at me like I was off my rocker, saying, "really? Nah." And like Beethoven, Prince was deaf too---deaf---to the critics, to the labels, to the industry---and true to himself and the art. Passion can make us do good and not so good things---he did a lot of that. He sure did paint himself into a corner and good that he did. Imagine if he hadn't. Only true Prince fans know that who he was and what he did was other-worldy, beyond comprehension, and with closure that came full circle.

An artist is basically a "nude soul." They undress their soul to the public to be praised or shunned and ridiculed and that is very scary to most. The manager must protect them and build them up when others don't "get" them.

I don't even listen to pop radio anymore. It all sounds like the typical garbage you heard that flooded the radio last year. Nothing is ORIGINAL. Pop, country, rap NOTHING Is original. I discover unique music on line and down load for free the new original musical sounds on line. I refuse to waste my hard earned funds on factory made crappie you typically find at the music stores.

Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.

No such thing as selling out. Commercials = money. Money keeps your career going. Unless the commercial is advertising something egregious that would really hurt your brand as an artist 👩‍🎨, which would vary case by case. But honestly, the exposure and income from commercials and film/TV has so much potential to be lucrative that you would have to be a complete moron to take the “absolutely no commercials” stance in 2020.
