I really think one of the reason Johnny s held on to his hatred of Daniel for all those years is jealousy that Daniel had the better sensei he indirectly admits that in the bar scene in episode 9

I mean every one knew the kids were bullied by their parents in CK and they only billed other kids because of this really but Daniel had a " true" relationship with Mr. Miyagi. Michael Powers Why is not disclosing that information his “biggest failure”? That’s Johnny’s story to tell, not Daniel’s. He’s done enough for Johnny by getting Robby to somewhat forgive Johnny in the s1 finale. He did that out of the goodness of his heart, because he didn’t want their relationship to be so broken. He’s also taken Robby under his wing and Robby has blossomed and flourished in Miyagi-do. Daniel never once failed him as a teacher. The reason Robby hurt Miguel in the finale is not because Daniel failed to teach him mercy, it’s because Robby, on that particular day, was in a very bad headspace. He found out his girlfriend cheated on him with the same boy that in his mind stole his dad from him, that in his mind his dad loves more. That boy is also the one who tried to pick a fight with him at the beach, and who fought really dirty against him at the tournament. That boy also attacked him when Robby was trying to stop Tory and Sam from fighting. On top of all those things, that morning Daniel shut Robby out because Robby made the wrong call not taking Sam home. He took her, drunk, to his dad’s house, who is a single male adult who lives on his own. He and Johnny then choose not to call Daniel to tell him Sam is safe. Daniel was justified in being upset at Robby and Johnny that day, but Robby is hurt that he is being punished for just trying to help Sam out the night before. He feels he not only lost his father to Miguel, but he lost Sam to Miguel, and he lost Daniel for making an error in judgment trying to protect Sam. THAT’S what Robby’s headspace is like when he is fighting Miguel. That’s where the rage comes from that clouds his better judgment and makes him temporarily forget Daniel’s teachings. So no, Daniel didn’t fail him. Johnny failed Robby, Shannon failed Robby. Daniel only ever provided Robby stability, support and good guidance.

You also have to realize that Pat Morita was playing older than he realy was. Morita was born in 1932 and if Mr. Miyagi was a Medal of Honor winner in World War 2 that means he would've had to be born about 1920 or so. So Mr. Miyagi would've been in his 60s in the first movie even though the actor wasn't that old.

Constant ref, flash backs etc. You get the real depth of the main characters Johnny and Daniel by knowing their past and previous actions from the first film and then Daniel more in the sequels hence the small old toy from part 2 movie. Sure you can like the show but to get the most enjoyment you need to watch the movies

John Douglas Racing Video This is the sequel to The Karate Kid that I always wanted. I thought it would be great if they could bring Daniel back so that he could pass on what Miyagi taught him, but this show is so much better than that. Not only do I get to see Daniel's story continue, but I get to see Johnny's as well. As far as I am concerned Cobra Kai is the best show of all time! I never want it to end!

I love how Daniel and Johnny are realizing that there are flaws with each Dojo philosophy.

The problem is Johnny doesn't know what Kresse and Silver did after he and his friends quit Cobra Kai. Danny has a grudge agenst Cobra Kai I think more then Johnny. After epsoide 12 you can see that he holds that same fear of Cobra Kai. Hawk did an illegal move to Robbie and Miguel attacked that injury. The same thing that happened to him in the first Karate Kid movie

There is another sneak peek on KZfaq for season 2 where Johnny calls out Robbie and Miguel for what they did in the tournament and, as punishment, makes them both do fifty push ups on their knuckles. I wonder how long it will take Daniel and Johnny to realize that their goals are exactly the same. I hope this new season will build on that rather than the loop around their relationship did in the first season.

Roland Johnny’s not the protagonist, they share that role. And Daniels still the main character of the entire franchise. Protagonist is different but tat role is shared with Johnny. This show alternates coz nobody is good or bad rn just confused and concerned
