I thought the same thing but I think it is for real. Alignment is done by eye. The hole on centreline connects with the offset drilling at the ends. The stub he pressed in did not bottom out but left a small connecting end gap. He only had to drill to the centre hole and everything is reconnected. I think a hardened journal is the furtherist thing from their minds. As long as the crank works. The journal should not touch the bearing in 'theory' only protects against abrasion from contaminants in the lube oil. My major concern is how and where was the welder earthed? How did a steel crank like that break? Cheers
