Going up against the world champ with a strategy that has a 11% chance, now that's the attitude to have. Legit inspiring not gonna lie.

Look up Steven Bradbury. He was an Australian skater who used a similar strategy, but in the Olympics. And it worked!

This is why I love small esports. Children spend their whole lives dreaming of shooting hoops with Michael Jordan, in Tetris you can actually get that chance

You name dropped your aSongScout channel (which I hadn't heard of before) so I checked it out and damn dude I had no Idea you were such an amazing musician and such an excellent arranger! Funny enough I discovered the CTWC a week and a half ago due to a collab Jonas Neubauer did with musictuber Rob Scallon so I found about the tetris scene through music and then I discovered your music channel through tetris. Pretty funny how that worked out. Love all your content my dude

What do you mean, he had to borrow aSongScout's Twitch channel because he didn't have one yet but he's not aSongScout, they even collabed on a piano video. People really get confused nowadays, next thing you know they say Childish Gambino and Donald Glover are the same person

I just wanted to say: You are such a nice and cool guy! I've never been interested in Tetris before I found your videos about (thx to the KZfaq Algorithm) but a couple of months later: I am addicted. I can imagine how you felt to play against Joseph... And you did it in the best way you can! We all can feel your love for the game in every single moment - regardless of what happens. And THAT is awesome and real sportsmanship! Thank you!

On a positive note, you were beating Joseph for probably 10 seconds in the early part of the first game. 😄 Seriously, I really enjoyed your lighthearted attitude throughout the commentary. It was a fun video.

As someone who has only been playing NES Tetris for about a month and a half now, it's nice to watch this. I make very similar mistakes at 18 and 19 so it's nice to see you dissect your past self and offer possible solutions/alternatives. Thanks for the videos!

@@aGameScout Yes this! there is a surprising lack of mid-high level stacking tip videos. I'm getting to the max score on my PC emulator, PB 432K, (still working on getting a NES+Tetris here in australia), and I'm not going to get any better without some tips around delayed burns and tucks and setting up spins.

This is...weird. I am just the average run of the mill goblin who knows fak all about Tetris, especially the playing part of it. Yet, here I am, gazing upon this video as well as other classic Tetris videos. Why? I find it entertaining, interesting, fascinating and amusing, but not in the comic kind of way, but how you and the others have turned Tetris into this huge, technical and such an advanced game is just "wow" to me. Amazing work this be, how in-depth you go and that you're so genuine about it. And pardon me, but I have no friggin idea why I haven't subscribed to your channel before, despite I've seen your videos before, but I have done so now, for sure! Keep up with these videos and analytics of yours, man. It intrigues even the non-tetris player like myself. Splendid!

This was fun! The coach in me definitely saw a ton more moves that could have been improved BUT all the stuff you said was generally pretty good, and of course it's no criticism of your play back then. I have 10 maxouts and I STILL PLAY LIKE THAT IN TOURNAMENTS NOW SOMETIMES because of nerves :( I also love the attitude of hoping JD maxed against you. That's the best attitude to have, and definitely one I've had when I've gotten to play top players like Nenu. It's just an honor to lose to the best!! Who cares if we have no chance =P

I think joseph has just become so advanced because of the time he has to play as well as his age. I wonder what if we will ever see a hybrid player who does hyper tapping and DAS. When it comes to hours being able to play, the younger guys will have most people beat. Some of them play over 3000 hours a year. That is on the very low end because of the magical time for teens, Summer. So then we end up having someone who can probably play 5,000 hours a year and with very analytical practice like chess players (they generally have all of their games viewed by their trainer or a pro). So with a dedicated 16 year old, with help from the best in the game reviewing their games. You can pretty much reach god level in 1 year. I assume joseph did something along these lines to reach such a high level. It would actually be pretty funny though if you just stayed in private for 2 years and then joined the ctwc just to beat everyone as a nobody

I do wonder if Joseph would have thought to just run the counter-strategy to yours, recognizing that (without intent to insult your skill) the matchup is far enough in his favor that he doesn't need to play nearly as risky as the games in which he had early topouts.

14:42 even with that type of board, I can see a way you could of fit the square by moving the s piece to the other slot and fitting the square between then, making you Tetris ready and okay at the transition. I know this isn’t that important, but I’d just like to point that out

It's amazing when I kind of thought I was pretty "ok" at tetris, and then these masters come in and rule it. Great for the game and tetris community but just puts me down several pegs on something I thought I was good at. I'm great at speed and placements for the most part. Its surviving long bar droughts that kill me. I need to work on my burns more.

I feel like you’re burning to many lines unnecessary. This automatically takes so many points from you. I know it’s not easy but maybe you should change somehow your stacking game because it looks a bit chaotic. I would spend some time on figuring out some kind of stacking algorithm because with your current one you’ll be just loosing. Unfortunately, last year guys like dog or Joseph speeded up the progress and they look solid. Let me know what you think :)

The crazy thing is, you're already above average and almost professional tetris player. But you can't even qualify in ctwc right now. Like this year, Joseph got 12 max out qualify. He can literally beat you with only one hand. It's crazy to see how much tetris had improve. From almost all das player to almost all hypertapper.
