FILM DESCRIPTION:
Will Ferrell returns to the role of Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which finds the popular San Diego television newsman pulling up stakes with co-host Veronica (Christina Applegate), his intrepid reporter Brian (Paul Rudd), overenthusiastic sports reporter Champ (David Koechner), and imbecilic weatherman Brick (Steve Carell) in order to move to New York City and launch the first ever 24-hour news network. Adam McKay, who directed the original, returns as well to helm this comedy.

I love how Van Damme in “Bloodsport” from 1988 appears, even though “The Anchorman” is set in the 1970s. Makes no sense, and it’s wonderful.

Then again, Bloodsport made in 1988 was based on Frank Dux's (alleged) competing in the (super-secret) Kumite in 1975. With Anchorman set in the 70's, the timelines make it imaginatively possible - but I agree, the scene still really makes no sense and it is wonderful.

You know how is James Marsden not like a super-duper star. He's incredibly talented and funny, can sing and dance, and is probably one of the most handsome guys on the planet, yet he's always cast as loser type characters who never gets the girl.

He actually said in an interview that he hated playing the stereotypical good looking guy when he enjoyed performing characters. I think his comedic delivery is brilliant. I just watched him in "The Stand" and was reminded of this scene. As much as I love Will and the team, Marsden and Greg Kinear really stole the scenes in this movie

In Enchanted, his Princess get "stolen" by a Widower. There are multiple total anachronisms in this movie. There is a reference to Ghostbusters and, then, maybe ten minutes or so later, actual footage from Scarface, neither of which would exist for years after the time during which the movie takes place.

I think the point is that, even thought it's incredibly risky, at this point, Jack's the most popular, he's smug and full of himself, and Ron is known for being washed up and working at Seaworld. From Jack's point of view, it's a foregone conclusion that Ron's lost, so it's worth the risk
