Another clinching-hugging pure boxer bites the dust. That first exchange 40 seconds into round 1 was also Haney making this mistake. Ryan jabs, Haney responds with a lazy jab right shoulder pulled back and eats the left hook.

Connor I thought the Haney fight would give you the opportunity to talk about rematch dynamics. Haney and Garcia fought 6 times in the amateurs taking 3 a piece. Also Garcia was the golden boy as an amateur. Haney may have got in his own head about this match up a little.

It’s so obvious in hindsight that Haney has huge defensive deficiencies. His style of staying behind the jab and moving a lot I think fooled a lot of people into thinking that he’s more defensively responsible than he actually is. Like a version of Dominick Cruz without the reflexes.

Cant say i was too surprised about Garcia v Haney. Haneys showing against Loma had me doubting him against "bigger" opponents. I also thought he lost that fight.
