Depends on what the goal is... You can buy a 2.7l 6 speed and have it chipped for 500-700 and It will be game with the SRT-10 for 5 to 10k less if you just want to race as cheap as possible, I went with a new Ford because I'm not brand loyal but have had a lot of issues with Dodges over the years so maybe I'm a little cautious? But right now Ford has better gas mileage (I got up to 23 MPG with my last one (when I could baby it for a whole tank), and only 21MPG with the 2020 so far, better towing, payload, torque and HP numbers from the base engine than anyone right now, so anyone who says they aren't brand loyal but still drives a chevy is lying or pressured, and the dodges aren't bad right now either but the price would have to be a steal to overcome my experiences and the good numbers Ford is producing (This is my 2nd ecoboost so I have seen the numbers in the real world). Same with Chevy but you rarely see that kind of deal on a Chevy because everyone thinks they are gold (which in the 80's and 90's they were). Every Truck has had it's years on top but bang for the buck? Its been Ford for awhile now...

Both trucks had horrible tunes in them the power figures were severally low on both similar modded srt10s are usually in the mid to high 500whp range. And similar modded ecoboosts usually make over 100hp than what they made. Whoever tuned them didnt do that great of a job...

florida life im assuming its an off the shelf can tune for both that are what I consider “safe” tunes where they make a few changes in the tune file and gain a few horsepower than call it good. Probably did that so both trucks would close in power ratings. Almost seems like both trucks are only slightly quicker than stock

A 9.03 in the 1/8 should be a 14.1 1/4 mile, and a 9.6 1/8 should be around a 14.9 1/4. Which isn't very impressive either way.

@Dirty Harry As a collector piece the ram will be worth more. Too many of the eco boosts to be a collector item. I have a F150 and a 06 Duramax but I would never buy a Dodge. I think you guys took my comment the wrong way.

The guys in the video doesn't know shit about what to do to each truck. With the 3.5 all you would have had to do is high flow fuel system, and e85 tune. Makes like 600 to 700 hp on stock turbos. Viper like yall said supercharger would have been no problem about the same for reliability issues with the trans of those years.

One sounds like a wet fart (the eco-toots) and the other a dump truck (V10)... odd mix of sounds.

Might nothing... for sure it would. Needs to turn traction control and Advance Trac off too... huge difference. I've seen EB's run high 11's in the 1/4.

Well the dodge was already track ready, the f150 was not and needed to be lowered and needed gripper tires

The category was money best spent . At least to me if you can have the faster truck and spend $5K less that’s money better spent , with left over money for gas and dinner after . Having to spend all your money just to try and get close to the Dodge to me seems foolish .

@@garypic4083 how so? I personally rather run 1/4 mile but there are alot of tracks that cant be built because of land available and bracket races run much faster. Some of the most exciting racing has been at small 1/8 mile tracks.

Diego Ibanez if the v10 had boost in general even simply 6lbs the thing would be a beast. The fact is an na truck can beat a boosted truck even without a ton of mods. The ecoboost takes a lot of money to make decent power reliably. They arent reliable when you start slapping bigger turbos on it.

Jack Laughlin technically speaking the ford prob has twice to three times the displacement because of the turbos. The turbos are cramming more air which means they effectively increasing the displacement. Na that v10 is decently strong. The ecoboost eh.

Valid Points it most certainly does. Boost is increasing the amount air allowed in the cylinder increasing displacement. The block displacement is advertised how much air fits in each cylinder. Same with compression. Compression is increased with boost.

Turbo charged takes a lot in place.Thats where the high performance comes in place.People always say,a V6 almost took an srt 10.Ford is better.No,on any size motor a turbo will do wonders.But still fast.

Walk Ford dealer lots. I have done it recently truck shopping and all you see in the 3.6L or 2.7L(which is a garage engine). They have very few v8 trucks on the lot new. So I assume that they don't sell many. If you want a v8 buy a Chevy or a maybe a Dodge. There is a reason that the LS based swap is so popular.

People think the ecoboost feels faster and it is for daily driving and towing. But sound is garbage and milage is terrible if your in boost all the time. Not to mention all the extra heat and parts that could need to be replaced. V8s are what belong in a pickup.

Ive personally had a 5.0, now on my 2nd eco boost 3.5, and also own a 2019 GT350R 5.2, The Ecoboost powertrain is simply awesome. Great MPG, smooth, quiet, and tons of power, as well as reliable. Simply amazing. I drove 1600 miles to TX and back at 80mph on cruise and averaged 21mpg. And that was on a truck with very few miles. You diehard 5L boys simply spew facts that are not true. Same ones over and over.

Wild Bill same for the v10. Like if it was boosted at the same psi it would smoke the ecoboost. In the end the ram is better and has extensively a better amount of potential.
