Let The Right One In was amazing. So bleak. Super dark.

"So sweet but so evil..." Sounds like the title of an extreme horror novel!

I finished reading The Wager today. - English edition - thank you very much! I found out about this book through this channel. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me and I'm looking forward to April 24th, when the German edition is published. 😉

I’ve not seen your cat before! What a sweet beautiful bb. I want to read Let the Right One In but I’m just not sure I’m in a place for the length of it right now. I just finished Mary and then Project Hail Mary back to back so I need some lighter reading for a bit 😅 Soon though!!

Highly highly recommend the book The Haar by David Sodergren !! If Scottish folk horror with lots of gore interests you 🤭😂💕 Maggie's Grave is also really good!

They're both short and fast paced reads, and if anything they have really epic covers so they make good display books! I personally prefer The Haar a little more 💕🖤❤️

The Wager was great. It's absolutely insane what those people went through, and if I was reading it in a fiction book I probably wouldn't find it believable. One little thing I really liked about the book too was how the author explains some common idioms that actually come from sailors. Some of them I was completely unaware of.

I miss being young and free, I could read several books a month. Nowadays, if I read one, I feel lucky. Two is a blessing. More likely, a book will take me between 3 and 6 weeks.

I bought The Wager so fast after you talked about it. I read In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick years back and The Wager seems similar in that surviving on open water type way. It sounds like you had some good reads in December. I'm sorry you were sick! Glad to see you recovered.

Great video! I really need to read Ronald Malfie in 2024. So great you loved Let The Right One In, in my top ten novels Wow, you have definitely given a new perspective on the novel. I loved the setting of a story in a Swedish winter, frikken cold, depressing, suicidal perhaps and a perfect environment for a messed up vampire modern classic.

Rock Paper Scissors was also my first Alice Feeney book and I loved it and I just finished reading my second book by her, Daisy Darker. I think her writing style was pretty similar, I found myself wanting to annotate a lot of the quotes.

Read Rock Paper Scissors this December as well and loved it. Read another of Alice Feeney’s, Sometimes I Lie, right after and while it was pretty enjoyable, the narrative style was so similar to RPS that it has me wondering if she uses the exact same story telling approach for all of her books. Not a huge issue, but I’ve decided to mix some books in between before reading another of hers to provide some variety in between. Also yay for cat on cam 😻

I too read Santasploitation and Taste like Xmas in Dec. Enjoyed both! Have read Let the Right One In, in the past. Totally agree the book is different then the movies. The Swedish movie is a little closer to the book than the US movie. For a 5 star read, read "Meat" by D'Arcy. I freaking loved it! It involves cannibalism but the story is so well written. And has some great twists. It blows me away every time I've read it.

Please don't hold back on talking about metaphors. I like your more thoughtful content, especially in a book like Let the Right One in. Some books call for a deeper dive.

I have no idea. She was a rescue but I've always wondered what she was because she's so unique looking. I think you might be right though! I just looked up pictures and a few of them look like her twin.

@@AndaKent she's very pretty!! My girl looks more like a standard tabby just with some peach splotches. Torbies are usually female since they fall into the tortoise shell/ calico category and they're usually known for having "tortitude" and being a bit more talkative and spicy than other kitties lol.

Hi Anda! Love your content - been a subscriber for a while now. I, of course, haven't seen ALL of your uploads so forgive me if I'm late on this one, but -- I just finished/fell in love with House of Leaves by Danielewski and heavily recommend, if I may. Currently reading The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker and can not put it down - if you haven't read either put 'em on your list! :)

REVELATORY PIECE FOR YOU HERE. LOVE BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE IS NOT TRULY REVEALED UNTIL THE TWO DO NOT LIKE EACH OTHER FOR A WHILE. TOBY MAC WROTE THE BEST LOVE SONG EVER. HANDS DOWN. ONE OF MY MANY STYLES OF POETRY I WRITE IS LOVE POETRY FOR MY WIFE. SAID TO BE ELEGANT IN A CLASSICAL SENSE. VERY PRETTY. BUT THIS ONE OF HIS FAR AND AWAY EXCEEDS MY BEST. BECAUSE OF THE HOLD BACK NOTHING REALITY OF IT. THIS IS A TREAT FOR YOU AND YOURS. COMPARED TO OTHER LOVE SONGS AND POETRY, IT IS LIKE FINDING A PARK AVENUE DIAMOND SALESMAN SELLING OUT OF A CHILD'S LEMONADE STAND IN A MCDONALD'S PARKING LOT. IT GOES. I am tired, I am drained But the fight in me remains I am weary, I am worn Like I've never been before This is harder than I thought Harder than I thought it'd be Takin' every part of me But empty's never felt so full This is what love Feels like Poured out, used up and still givin' Stretching me out to the end of my limits This is what love (this is what love) This is what real love Feels like poured out Used up and still willin' to fight for it This is what love feels like Yeah, this is what it feels like Like floating confetti The beautiful gets messy When the fallout finds the floor But in the depths of the trenches Is the richest of riches Love is calling us to more It's worth everything you put in
