Andy Cohen received overwhelming support from his Instagram followers after joking that he should run for mayor of NYC. His 'AC2' tour co-host, Anderson Cooper, isn't quite there yet.

Damn son, I could literally watch Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper banter with each other all day. It's cool that they are real life friends, because they couldn't be more opposite personality wise. But in real life, often happens that way.

For all the Kathy Griffin fans who are going to come in and start yelling about "betrayal of a best friend!", please, PLEASE, go listen to her Howard stern interview from April earlier this year. She said that 1) Anderson reached out to her multiple times last year (before her world tour/NYMag feature), 2) she and Anderson had become distant to the point that they would only see each other at NYE for at least 5 years before the photoshoot happened, and 3) Anderson was upset with her because she did not contact him to explain why she had done that photoshoot parodying the murder of a journalist, which put him and CNN in a tight spot. So, a) they were not best friends b) anderson did not abandon her c) anderson and andy have been best friends for 25 years. Can we PLEASE retire this lie once and for all?

1) He reached out to her at a low point in her career when she was cast out from all work and social events, and if you followed her as much as some of us fans do, you know she was still smarting and shaken after the photo and sister's death double-whammy. It is not beyond reason for her to still have a bad taste in her mouth when he reached out months after he publicly and swiftly denounced her. 2) Fair, maybe that's the reason why he did not call her to give her notice about him tweeting out his condemnation, and thus 3) if they were already distant, why would she have the mind to call him to explain her misstep when literally the entire world and her life was crashing down? I mean, if she had to explain, she would have to do it to the whole world and I can assure you, AC will not be at the top of that list.

In any case, the cards fell the way it did because none of them two could make sense of the sudden firestorm that happened in time to salvage whatever relationship they had. Hindsight is always 20/20. While I recognise that, I find myself unable to consume any of Anderson Cooper's content anymore, because the picture of being abandoned *just* when one needed support the most while their world is crashing down, runs too close a parallel to a lot of her fans' personal lives.

Maybe I don't get the bigger picture, but who cares if they are/aren't friends with Kathy Griffin? Friendships are dynamic and sometimes they morph and grow apart. Sometimes they just need a few years break and come back together. Friendship rotations happen all the time. This is an odd topic to be up-in-arms about.
