At meet up game you might consider the AA call, but I don't know if you're going to get +EV in regular cash games with that call, unless you have very specific reads on opponent. More of those bluffs at 5/10 and up, maybe, but not enough to put over EV.

Honestly I feel that AA spot is a fold against unknowns like every single time lol. That line is almost always a set that doesn't wanna see a flush complete on the river tbh. If he showed a Td he probably had a hand like QT that he randomly decided to turn into a bluff after putting you on an overpair. I feel like that it's very unusual for someone to do that and you made the right fold in the long run. Considering the price you're getting you need to be good like 1/3 of the time but villain is probably bluffing with this line like less than 1/10 of the time IMO

" Considering the price you're getting you need to be good like 1/3 of the time but villain is probably bluffing with this line like less than 1/10 of the time IMO" You also have to consider the times an unknown is going to be doing this for value, with a worse hand. If they're bluffing 1/10 (without Q), and they could be value betting KQ or QJ another 25% of the time, you have the odds to call. If they're doing each of those 20% of the time instead, then it's still a profitable call. Either way, that's a disgusting spot.

That hand @17:00. Something you didn't mention which I see a lot. In that situation, the guy has $400 left and bets with $200. If he had a draw he'd either push since it's not far from pot or check since he's only got $400 left - some people do that, take the free card for their draw. He bet $200 however with $200 left behind. This shows a lot of strength from what I've seen in live games. He basically wants to get his money in without looking like he's trying to get his money in. If he was on a draw he wouldn't commit that $200 because If he misses, and you have anything, he can't do anything to get you off the hand with his remaining $200. He's basically burnt that $200 with little benefit It's clear he's hoping you call the bet and when you look at the final pot and say it's only $200 more. I actually thought the AA lay down was a good play. Your hand looked like a strong pair, the turn hit his range and not yours, there's pocket 2s and 5's. A4s and 46s were unlikely but not impossible. Not a lot for him to hit or represent, but because your hand was relatively transparent as a probable high pair he shouldn't push much since it's a reasonable probability it gets called. So a bit of the reverse psychology, maybe. I guess he had TT but wanted to see if he hit a set but then went with it anyway.. maybe.

i don't see anyone mention it, but i think that first hand was played extremely well. The only thing is that you could make a case for betting the flop small, and obviously then triple barreling. the turn lead and river jam is a line which i think is very good and most players would not use in this situation.
@JAKTPLO
@JAKTPLO 4 жыл бұрын
i also think the 89o hand is a close bluff spot on the river. i think 78 is a clear bet. KJ, AK,AJ would consider checking more, unblocking their calling range while still having some showdown value vs. missed draws. 89 is sort of right in the middle. It blocks J9 a bit, but also unblocks hands they would call 2 streets then fold the river, like AK, AJ, KJ, J9, backdoor diamonds (Axdd, 6xdd). I also think population overfolds Tx here on the turn. My bet sizing would not try to make him fold Qx though, so i'd prob bet around 40-50% pot trying to fold out better draws. any thoughts on this line? i've been doing more studying lately and i know you have as well... just seeing if the thought process is congruent.

Man, that aces hand is almost exactly what I faced today - and both you and I ended up making the wrong move, but mine was in reverse, lol. I had pocket aces in position, with a flop of 10/4/3, two diamonds. I bet 160 on the flop, opponent calls. Turn is a 5 of diamonds, completing the flush for any two diamond holdings. He leads out on me for 300. Couldn't let it go yet, just didn't believe him. River was a King of clubs and he puts me all in for $700. I tanked for about 5 minutes before finally calling. Well, I was right that he didn't have the flush... but I was wrong that I was ahead. Turns out he had 4/5 and hit two pair on the turn. the turned 5 of diamonds was literally the perfect card for him. I'm sure he knew I had an over pair and on top of that knew I wouldn't believe he had the flush. There was no way I could put him on 4/5 either since I had raised pre-flop to $80. Oh well, shit happens I suppose! Left me bummed the rest of the day though.

On that 89 vs Q8 hand, I've found that trying to bluff people off of specifically top pair is usually a bad play. The only hands he has there are bust draws and top pair, and you're blocking one of the obvious open enders (J9) and Qx just makes more sense. Yeah, you can do it sometimes in specific line ups against specific people, but generally I think it's a losing play.

On the pocket Aces hand, I think the only reason he bet out on the turn, and bombed the river, is because you didn’t take back control of the hand with a re-raise on the river, so he probably thought he was holding the best hand with Q-10. And in the case you might be holding A-Q or A-K, then he may be able to blast you off that hand (because his kicker was so weak). Just my take there.

I've come to some conclusion that on that last hand,the player probably had pocket tens but since the board was kind off all over the place he decided to bluff at it from the beginning till the end when he shoved. Did he stared at the board? its usually an indication of a bluff and that of a not a strong enough hand At least from what I have come across...Nice work on the videos Andrew

Tough spot with AA, I wonder if a solver would prefer bluff catching with the Ah or without. I do think AA is a good bluff catcher blocking A4s so in theory it can't be awful. But I do tend to lean towards most players not bluffing enough and fold IRL anyway.

Live and learn...That would be a tough call with just top pair against a slightly less than pot All In jam on the River.....It was his only move to win since you just called his 60% of pot Turn Lead/Feeler bet. It seemed like you made your hand look vulnerable to a River shove, since the Big blind still did not act on the Turn...meaning you didn't protect the mighty Pair by raising. I heard everybody gets bluffed once in a while. Great content!

gotta say I think the AA is a snap call, just from live poker experience ... seems like that 0 concern for staying in flow and 0 concern for scaring away hands that will get value usually means bluff. does seem very typical for example when a 3rd flush card rolls in, or a 4 to a straight, just the snap out-of-flow-big-bet can be very bluffy, although of course sometimes they have it. i for sure overcall, but yeah i think that wouldn't even be close

Hi, Andrew. With the JJ hand, what range of hands do you think they have when they bet Axx flop, check T turn? Right away I'm eliminating KQo, KJs, QJs (which we block a lot of) stronger Ax, hearts, 89s etc. It feels to me like they have a weaker ace that is pot controlling, KTs or QTs type hand, 99, 88, and perhaps 87s, 67s, their weakest draws, and smaller pairs 22, 44-66 that bet for protection and are just hoping for a showdown (but folding to action). What do you think villain is betting river with? What are you doing facing a smaller bet of say 1/4-1/3 on the river? What about larger sizings? Thanks.

I was playing 6/12 limit and got this woman, who works as a dealer, to fold pocket aces heads up on the river. So you’re not the only one.

Tough spot with the AA bro! you block some flush draws but also double block the straight! That LA pool is a little loosey goosey innit. Did you ever find out what the other card was??? Great vlog thank you

I feel like usually in that spot with AA there you're beat although Vs line was strange. Think it's a tough but sensible fold even if this hand's results were not favorable. Would you play differently if V check raised the turn and bombed river?

I was part of a big hand with a similar misdeal. I ended up with 77 instead of a random 7-3 which I surely would’ve folded. I got all the money in on the flop which was AA7. I ended up getting stacked as my opponent has quad aces :/

13:34 in that situation where you seem to have a stranglehold on the hand with trip queens, top kicker, and a rainbow board, I love betting on the flop (like you did). If he calls and the turn is a brick, check. As if you got caught putting out the first bet on the flop, and now just want to check it down. Then on the river if he bets trying to steal the pot, you raise. What do you think?

Classic LA poker, people calling way to thin and overvaluing marginal made hands. Having said that, I so often find when I'm in a spot (the AA hand) that follows that pattern (V flatted pre and post, leads turn, jams river) it's a flopped set, but you don't seem to even consider that scenario, unless you're counting as part of the "better for his range" part. Curious why?

I know it’s easy to say what you would do, though on that board I am calling with AA especially if I am close to even or up.

1. Good job encouraging people not to tilt or berate dealer over exposed cards. You want dealing perfection, play online 🤷‍♀️ 2. As soon as he said " I'm drawing dead" I thought "Here comes the runner runner full house starting from one pair" or "here comes 9d 8d" for a chop. Way to fade that black swan buddy.

On the 7-5diamonds hand: If opponent has something like Ad X, is it mathematically better to want them to call on the flop? Or to wait for the turn, and then shove? They are more likely to call on the flop due to better odds of hitting a flush with two cards to come. If we wait and shove turn, they are more likely to fold, no? Thoughts anyone? Other examples? I am speaking generally about shoving made hands vs. opponents with draws.

If we know exactly what he has, and it's the AdXx, then yeah I'd for sure let a card come off and be able to play perfectly in that manner. But it's a win/lose scenario when considering his full range. The rest of that range contains a lot of strong hands that also won't put any more money in on various cards such as a diamond. So I'd rather get all the money in immediately being way ahead of even his range (straights, sets, two pairs, pair plus flush draw).

People in the straddle just... Don't have good ranges. Like sure they connect with low boards in some way. But they don't have even that many suited connectors. They have stuff like t2 and q4 that makes one pair on low boards and then they start to get creative. When you face a polarized line like that, you can't fold the top of your range unless you think the guy is straddling so he can fold a lot. Also if he gets it through against *you* now he can crow about it for years. Think about that.

@@AndrewNeeme meet up games, man... You're already selecting for people who at least casually study poker and are willing and able to play at the $5 blind level. And now they're showing up at a specific place for an event, not just impulsively going to the casino because they just got paid. They might be on camera so they don't want to get caught with trash, so they are likely tighter. And if they bluff you now they're famous. So the environment makes them tighter and more aggro which is closer to fundamentally correct poker. What you want are drunk guys, deeply in debt, in their own personal hell on cash advance buy-in number five. You want them going home looking at a handgun before passing out and then doing Uber eats the next day and coming back to the casino to try to run it up, promising themselves that this time they will "play solid." This is not the type of person that comes to a meet up game, sadly. You are a great ambassador for the game, but I imagine your win rate is gonna be lower against meet up guys than the general donkey herd. You and I played once I believe. You would have gotten a tip from the floor at red rock to come over in the middle of the night, because there was a fish, which was me. But you were card dead.

Im definately not calling with the aces having the ace of hearts. It removes so many of the natural bluffs from their range, they have to be getting very out of line. Its just a good play by them. Although aces is really high up in your range, i dont like calling with this variety. Sick bluff, kudos to him.
