Great writer, lyrics that fit very well together and you knew what he was saying because you had been there. Lots of words , well explained ideas, what a vocabulary he had. Not to mention his guitar playing.

Great singing and speaking voice! And I never knew how learned and how deep this man was! Talent, all day long! Just a total icon! And of course, he was my Image to follow, as I taught myself to play guitar!

Two of the real greatest rock'n'roll song creators ever, musing about the era that turned the world onto the best music radio ever played. My only disappontment is that Robbie didn't include Chuck in the Last Waltz performance.

As i may have mentioned several times before, myself and two lifelong friends went to see chuck berry at the rainbow theatre, finsbury park, north london, in 1975. BEAT THAT.

Pretty good interview until Robbie keeps harping on why Chuck didn't keep producing more new hits. Chuck pretty much invented Rock N Roll, so it was like asking the Wright brothers why they did not go on to invent teleportation. Chuck shows great patience with him. I saw Chuck perform many times over the years, and he rarely played a song the exact same way twice, and it always rocked.

Wow....just looking for good stuff on Chuck Berry amd I was not convinced that this interview would reveal much, but Berry has a way to make you understand that the myth is only as real as you want it to be....he comes across as someone that doesn't hold a beef against anybody or anything, even the changing times (60's). He just rolled with the changes and just never stopped being Chuck Berry. He stated he never left. Performer, song writer, personality, lover, financier and businessman and king of Rock-n-Roll!!! Hail hail rock-n-roll!!

Can you imagine a world where the likes of Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and all those who started before 1955 would not have done so? I read people all the time arguing about who is the "king of rock and roll" , that answer is quite simple, Elvis Presley is the king, now before you disagree with me hear me out!!!! I just watched an interview with Carl Perkins and he was asked about all those guys and how the music got going and how it took over the world. Mr. Perkins said something very interesting, he said that no matter how good Jerry Lee was or how good Carl Perkins was or how great and mean Chuck Berry's guitar was, there was only one person who "had it all in one package" to quote Mr. Perkins. He said that it was Elvis that really caused the most stir and everyone else road on Elvis's coat tails and had successful careers because Elvis had something extra special that people connected to. If you think about that and then look how even in 2019 Elvis is still so deeply embedded in our minds and in the very soul of this country. Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis had law troubles and it's because of that why they don't connect with so many people. But Elvis, he remained the "good" boy with that southern charm he could turn on and be this shy country boy who turned into a god when he touched the stage. In the end that's what it boils down to, who reached the most people and who the people most wanted to see, that was Elvis from 1954 and it still continues to this day. I love Chuck Berry and as a guitar player of 54 years old I can say that it was Chuck Berry who kicked out the "rockabilly" stuff and ushered in a completely new way of looking at the guitar. Nobody was playing the kind of guitar that Chuck Berry was playing, NOBODY! But, people don't connect to a guitar, they connect to a person and to charisma. No matter how good Chuck was on the guitar, he never touched the hearts of people quite the same way as Elvis did, no one else has ever done it either!! How many other artists have you seen the President of the United States address the nation when that person has passed on? Not even Frank Sinatra had that. When you throw in Chuck's legal troubles and his somewhat angry racist attitude, people could see that and like Jerry Lee Lewis people might have liked their music, but they didn't like the person so much, but everybody loves Elvis!

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”

few know this but, Robbie is related to a Toronto Jewish gangster by the name of Nate Klegerman. Nate was an active member of mobster Paul Volpe's gang who were active in Toronto in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Paul was big time with casinos in Havana and many other cash operations. eventually Paul was murdered and left in the trunk of his BMW at Pearson international airport in the early 80's. Toronto forever EH????!!!
