It surprises me that more people aren't familiar with Angelina. But then I remember I was a Grace Vanderwaal fan and just shook off Angelina until by chance I heard her sing. After I wiped the tears away, watched all of her videos and reactions and, of course, listened to all of her music, I am hooked for life. We have been void of female jazz singers for a long time but now we can rejoice.

People talk about her not having many original songs, but the thing is, the ones she does have contain some very sophisticated lyrics. “Like an empty bubble to be thrown.” Also, she has written a book with many remarkably poetic passages, and she has many masterful different arrangements of songs that often completely transform them. “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Wicked Game,” “California Dreaming.” So, I don’t think we need to worry that she will primarily a singer of covers as her career goes on.

I only found Angelina a couple of days ago, & i've been snared in the AJ trap, she is a musical genius, already she has that vocal power to make you cry, give you shivers & goosebumps, not only is it her voice that physically touches you it's her love of old classic songs & her ability to breath new life into them, her cover of( I put a spell on you ) a 9 year old girl taking on a classic jazz song ripping it up & making it her own is a sight to behold, people like Angelina only appear once in a lifetime, it's going to be an absolute pleasure to experience such a wonderful talent grow even stronger, the next 10 to 20 years watching this girl is going to be such a journey. Here's a quote from her book "Mellom to hjerter" ("Between Two Hearts") about the shoeless girl who she gave her shoes to: "It was like there were stairs from the earth to the heavens. And I climb the stairs...."I stand between the heavens and the earth I stand between two hearts.” I believe she experiences a similar feeling when she thinks about her grandpa, and hence the ladder to the heavens in the lyric video. That video and Angelina and Grandma Mery’s artwork were a stroke of pure genius. Unlike many lyric videos it really expressed Angelina’s feelings, and enhanced the viewer’s experience with this emotionally beautiful song

The timing of the release is such that this song won't be up for any Grammy until February 2022. The Grammy's absolutely should have Angelina sing this song in 2021 when they pay tribute to everyone who has passed in the last year.

A step away from Angelina's musical pathway thus far. I like the way that Angelina has kept the lyrics and singing style & rhythm relatively simple. It is a common trap for talented young artists to "overwrite" or complicate their songs with convoluted sophistication. Mick Jagger once said that the reason The Beatles & The Rolling Stones had such huge early success was by keeping their early songs simple & "singable". I also think that by stepping away from her usual style Angelina has taken the first step on a musical journey that will surprise many & bring a legion of new fans into a lifetime of listening pleasure. I suspect however that her jazz & blues roots will always be her first love & that when her songwriting skills have developed & matured she will deliver songs that will sit alongside the classics of the genre. Angelina, This beautiful song makes me yearn for my own grandfather. He was my sole guardian, however, he passed away from stage four lung cancer last October. I cry for him everyday and often pray for him to be in my dreams. Your lyrics resonate with me deeply. Thank you for sharing. 💔

My father's yahrzeit, The anniversary of his passing in Hebrew, Is January 7. It will be 8 years and I miss them as much now as I did When I was honored and privileged to be there when he took his last breath. I love this lyric And the one about him being in my tears

WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! A MASTERPIECE ! IMHO. It''s simple, genuine , yet superbly written and sung ! I think it's going straight up to # 1 on the Single's chart ! I know some fans wanted Angelina Jordan to stay true to Jazz only, no worries, she's going to do that too. When she does come up with her original jazz songs, just get ready to be blown away ! As of right now, let us appreciate,/enjoy this new song and just let the 14 year old dedicate and celebrate this touching ' LOVE ' song to her grandpa ! During one of the AGT interviews, Angelina told the interviewer that she wished her grandpa was there and that if she could just hold and hug her grandpa for one second . Unbelievably touching to see how much she missed him ( she choked up , almost broke down and cried ). People who lost loved ones know exactly why. My mom passed away 14 years ago, and even to this day, not a day gone by that I didn't miss her ! The cover photo of this Angelina's single tells it all, just look at how sad she still is and why it still hurts; it's heart breaking and it's always going to be like that when it comes to her grandpa.

No one musician has affected me as much as Angelina Jordan. Others I have considered the best: Brandi Carlile, Maggie Rogers, Beth Orton, John Legend, Adele, Billy Eilish, First Aid Kit, Alicia Keyes, Leon Bridges. I have been following Angelina for years. I am thrilled that she is writing her own songs. I am blown away by all her covers. So grateful to witness her coming into her own...wow! Amazing.

The part that got me in this song the most was when she started climbing the ladder (barefoot) because she is literally already at the top of the ladder now and has accomplished so much for her age. But it's not enough when you are missing someone. I took this to mean that she was wanting to perform for her lost Grandpa, and since it was a performance, her shoes were off. Also the voice shimmer in the second verse shows that longing for what she lost. I lost both my parents and little sister, so I can definitely relate. She's an amazing person, I hope that she never changes because she has a rare gift that has had tremendous impact on so many people around the whole world with her humble spirit and beautiful vocals.
