How I love Angelinas hand gestures when she's singing... and her vibrato is out of this world!

Analogy: I decided to go fishing in the deep blue sea. Wasn't looking to catch a particular fish. I just wanted to enjoy the day and be surprised if I caught anything at all. My line had sunk into very deep water and I wanted to bring it up and see if I caught something or would catch something on the way up. As I started to reel in the line it suddenly yanked and I got all excited! I quickly positioned myself in my chair and strapped myself in. If it was a fish it wasn't fighting to get away but I knew I had hooked on to "something". Finally, the line reached the surface and I would have my first look at "what I caught!" Lo and behold, it wasn't a fish but some sort of a box, a box made out of metal. Perhaps my line had reached down to a ship wreck from many years ago. I was able to scoop it up onto the deck and then sat there for a few moments staring at it. It was about 12" by 4" by 6" and was coated with something from the ocean which seemed to preserve whatever might be inside. By now it was midday and I let the sun slowly warm the metal box. Would I try to open now or take it ashore and do it later? Are you kidding? I had to do it right there and then! It took a little doing but I was able to loose up the lid using my screwdriver. I lifted it an inch or two and I knew I would be able to open it all the way. My imagination was now running wild! Was this something from a treasure ship wrecked and lost at sea many years ago? Maybe there's important papers in the box. Maybe some currency of some kind. I open it all the way and it was obvious the tightly sealed box had preserved whatever was inside. There was a felt pouch inside. "Oh, my! What do I have here?" I fondled it very carefully and then loosened up the tie to see what was inside. OMG! It was jewelry! All different colors gleaming back at me! And, there was one jewel which stood out and was, without question, the prize of this collection. I just kept staring at it. I had no thoughts of what it was, or, what was it's value. All I know it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my life. Thank you, Angelina, for coming into my life and bringing me love like I have never felt before. You are a jewel of the universe and my greatest wish, my greatest hope is that everyone in the world discovers you and listens to you sing for them. I know one of your desires in life is to do what you can to make the world a better place to live and I truly believe that can happen as you spread your love into every corner of the Earth and touch the souls of people and warm their hearts. Magic? No. Whatever you do to us and for us is reality and we love you Angelina. You will always be in our hearts. May all your dreams come true. We will always be with you and never far away. The guitarist, Ivan Mendez, said that Angelina's singing at the end of this song is the most amazing thing he's ever heard. I think you can tell that by his expression in the video.

Rhianna may be a billionaire, and deservedly so, but her rendition of 'Stay' was set-up for release to the public after numerous takes that included the most state of the art recording equipment available, as well as a host of gifted musicians backing her up. Angelina, on the other hand, decides to invite her guitar playing friend Ivan to her home for an impromptu 'jam session'. Since both are not totally experienced in doing the song, Ivan just tries his best to follow her lead as she reads the lyrics off of a tablet at her side, arranging it as she is about to sing each line. With all this being said, she brings forth a rendition that I find more penetrating than Rhianna's. To encapsulate. Rhianna is a billionaire with record sales that exceed 100 million albums and Angelina can only be described as a 'one in a billion' talent for sure.

Agree that the ending of this song is so moving. Angelina elongates the ending notes of each phrase with those little runs. Another masterpiece, no disrespect to Rihanna, who I adore, but Angelina made it even better, imo.

Have watched this video with Angelina so many times I've lost count and I never tire of this masterpiece. Since bohemian rahpsody's performance on america's got talent 2020, i have to listen to her every day. She is absolutely amazing.

I think I told you these sessions with Ivan were largely unrehearsed. Stripped down, slowed down and full of soul and melancholy. So very beautiful!. Ivan is indeed totally caught by het singing being so close to the epicenter :-) With Rihanna it is a song if hope: you sort of know that the other is going to stay. With Angelina the story changes: because if her timbre you know there is no hope: she is asking but the other is leaving. She is keeping it very subdued fitting the sadness of the story she is telling.

Ivan, the guitarist, says they do these in 1 or 2 takes. So the look of awe is his first time hearing her sing it. Nobody can emit the emotion and soul of a song like Angelina. I think she reads the lyrics first before listening to the song. In this way she can understand the feeling and emotion the artist wants to convey. Then she arranges it to be able to dramatically convey the feeling and emotion to us. She takes iconic songs and makes them Angelina songs. Her vocals, tones and smokiness do the rest. She is already The Greatest of All Time! Just amazing!!

Rihanna recorded this when she was 24 years old with the support of Sony and singer Mikky Ekko. Who knows how many takes, or how much post production went into the final version. This is not a criticism of Rihanna. It's just how the music business operates now. On the other hand, 12 year old Angelina Jordan invites her guitar player, Ivan Mendez, over for an impromptu session and the result is pure magic.

If anyone else used her breathiness and/or her elongated vibrato as much as her they would be distastefully over doing it, practically a smack in the face to music, a parody. If anyone tried to emulate her, same thing. Check out Ariana Grande on that talk show game, where they roll a song and artist to emulate. Say she rolls Xtina and 'wheels on the bus'. Absolutely nails it, the song and the Xtina like interpretation. A bit goofy but decent, if anyone rolled any song and AJ, it would be an absolute parody or they wouldn't know what to even do to make it AJ like. How she can fit so much in and make it actual beautiful art is beyond me. Still have zero understanding of why I can put up with that with her, and not only put up with it, but be seemingly forever captivated as a fanatic that can never get enough. It's something to do with real Jazz artists, but even Billie Holiday and any old Jazz doesn't fully tell me why.
