I know that exact area he was fishing at. Its considered one of the few "beach snorkle dive areas" ...the keys really dont have beaches though. Its just a restricted area for fishing to allow for snorklers / new divers in training. Its not exaclty like you cant find access around...every mile you have another bridge you can park at and fish, hes just avoiding them it seems.

@@Goblin1986p we have those in my area in the panhandle and it's stupid. No one snorkels the rocks they put out. It's really just another sneaky way the environmentalist use to close an area to fishing. It's something they really are pushing all over. We need to stand united because if it was up to the granola eating hippies we wouldn't even be allowed to hunt or fish on our own property, much less state and federal property.

Unfortunately it's pretty much a combination of a chip on their shoulders with a slight of harsh attitude, mixed with job duties which sometimes they go a bit overboard. Most don't have much to do, especially on the week days. I've seen residents get stopped while on their boats for no reason, the Florida Keys Police can be a pain in the ass, I know how they are, been living in the Keys all my life.

My position is that unless it's posted, and it's not private property, the deputy can kick sand. And if he wants to press the bogus case, just raise the stakes and call the game Warden and press charges on the deputy for interference/harassment of a fisherman/hunter. You might even get a nice settlement out of the matter when you sue the sheriff department.

When I was down on Isla Morada last summer, I had the sheriff come up to me in my Kayak as I was drifting under a bridge out of the pass and he said I couldn't fish there...I asked him why I couldn't fish there and he said I was impeding traffic...I asked him how I was impeding traffic under a bridge, out of the lane of travel and he said if I keep talking, I can go to jail...ended up over the weekend having 3 great interactions with the FWC and 3 horrible ones with the Sheriff's office...seems to be a theme

look up all your maritime navigable waters statues and be ready to quote the actual laws of that area...not only will you be confident in what/where you're allowed to fish, but be backed by case law in case you are arrested by the FEELINGS/EGO ENFORCEMENT instead of a normal encounter with a properly trained LAW ENFORCEMENT officer.
@Stephen8511 ай бұрын
@@skippylanoue966 they shouldn't even be enforcing fishing, hunting, and boating issues. That's what fwc is for and most of them actually know the regs. We had the same problem with the NAS water patrol boats. They said we couldn't fish near the bridge in a boat that goes over the bayou to the naval air station. There are multiple public boat ramps behind the bridge and there is heavy boat traffic under the bridge at all times. If someone wanted to blow it up that stupid rule wouldn't prevent anything. Then when there was a terrorist attack it was one their flight students from Saudia Arabia, and guess what happened after that? Even more restrictions for local civilians.

In missouri if it’s public you can fish there. Only way that a sheriff would tell you no fishing if you were on private property but then it has to be marked no fishing but that’s in missouri. Great way you handled that but I have the feeling the game warden knew you were ok to fish there with a license and the sheriff didn’t quite know what he thought he did. I might be wrong. But that’s why when I’m bank fishing I always carry a local platte book that shows ownership and boundaries

Ahhh, The Fills. That area is closed to everyone now due to construction and restoration, along with issues arising from some folks coming down from the mainland and absolutely trashing it. It’s been a sore subject for years due to some folks not brining out their trash, fighting, illegally parking their vehicles, anchoring their boats so they blocked the channel, walking back and forth across the road blocking traffic, trying to camp there, and so much more. The county (and Village of the Islands/Islamorada) put up ‘no parking’ signs in some areas and trash cans to try to help curb some of the activity, but folks just moved them, and continued on. Other than the trash, broken bottles, and fights, the main thing that caused the issue was that folks would stop their cars in the road, effectively blocking traffic, while trying to wait for a spot to open where they could park. Understand, this is the only highway in or out of the area, and the parking issues caused standstill traffic. Basically they did it to themselves. They have had hearings about if/when they plan to allow any access to the area, but the FDOT and residents want it shut down for good. Others have been trying to turn the area into a park, with bathrooms and parking. Recently there were no trespassing/parking signs around the area, as well as bright orange can barricades, but I’m not sure if they were moved for the construction or for some other reason as I don’t really see them in the video. Sucks that the actions of a few caused issues for everyone. Sadly, there are a lot of places in the Keys that are headed in that same direction.

You need to get a " Bucket Hat" and print out your digital fishing licence, laminate it, and put it in a pouch on the hat!!! 😂😂😂 I've fished in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arizona...always had my license.... Never once have I been asked by a Fish and Game Officer to produce my license. Same for all the years that I have hunted for Dove, Quail, Ducks and Pheasant, Deer and Elk.. never been asked! We hunted and fished to keep food on the table. Growing up, we ( the 4 of us boys and my sister ) grew up eating game meat and fish! Heck...my best friend and his dad used to take us fishing in New Mexico, and we always came home with plenty of Blue Cats and Channel Cats! His mom made the best fried catfish...hush puppies and Cole slaw! ( She grew up in the mountains of Tennessee...and she knew how to cook! )

Looks like you're right by Indian Key. We would drive there from ft Lauderdale in the morning, park on the side set up our coolers and grill and just fish drink eat and swim all day. About 50 yards off the shore on the east side is a sandbar that's fun to swim to. They have no parking signs now for most of that area but you can sneakily park at the marina across the bridge and walk. We would go there maybe 3 times a year. Everyone else we met there were from Dade or Broward there for a day trip. Locals tended to not bother with that area too much other than launching boats and tourists from out of state stuck to charters and resorts and restaurants. Was a nice little area. Fwc rolls by that area a few times a day during the busy season.

Iv been seeing it happen ALOT lately. Almost been getting the feeling they don't like the tourists coming in and want to make it as difficult as possible for them. The most times I have been personally approached by any type of law enforcement department is when I was fishing , hunting , or shooting known as "plinking". Never had any problems . I show them respect , my licenses when necessary , they kind of visually scanned my equipment tell me to have a nice day and they leave This going all the way back to the early 80's.

jacks revive much better if you toss em head first like a bonito holding em still starts to drown them👍🏼
