"How did you know you'd be bulletproof?" "I didn't ... I just knew that you weren't." There it is. That's Superman. The show may not be perfect in every regard, but they got Superman right. Looking forward to where they go from here.

You exactly right. Because Superman is not just a good guy he’s the embodiment of a selfless person. Who lives to help others. You can’t buy him, you can’t sway him into committing horrid deeds. Though he’s kryptonian, He’s the Best of humanity has to offer. Pure class act. And that’s something you can’t teach.

Honestly, sometimes we just need a break from the dark brooding DC and go back to the old roots of Superman. Just a guy who wants to help people and make the world better. It’s the Superman that Christopher Reeves brought us and that awesome 90s animated series.

What sold me was Libby has two mommies. Perry white is black Jimmy Olson is black. Perfect show for people who are morally bankrupt and who do not understand good writing. Like this guys channel. For any fictional show to be good it must be grounded in reality. Superman for years has always been a beacon of decency (truth justice and the American way). So when every top executive in a show is not a white male it doesn’t reflect reality. These writers are just abandoning their largest audience to pander to 5% of the population. We don’t want homosexuals and lesbians in these shows. We don’t to mixed ethnic couples and we don’t want writers changing these characters genders or ethnicity. The show sucks.

Yeah, I think we've gone too far off the cynic edge, forgetting or disbelieving the concept that somewhere out there, someone is actually a good person. Helping people just because it's a nice thing to do. A hero who became a hero simply because it's the right thing to do. No dead parents, no sad backstory at all, a hero who is just a good person. The only incentive they ever need is because it's nice.

On a more serious note, the one thing that this show has done that I have *never* seen an adaptation do before is make Jimmy an actual part of the story. It actually remembers that Jimmy Olsen is "Superman's Pal" and not just "Clark Kent's Co-Worker". (Supergirl technically gave Jimmy this kind of characterization but that was the character's backstory rather than anything directly shown onscreen).
@Winter-The-Masquerade

Still kinda odd how all the characters who were red heads had their hair color changed. I mean Jimmy and Vickie Vale are both gingers in the comics but not here. It's weird.

It also makes you go back at some details from previous episodes when he learn that Jimmy knew Clark was Superman. One example is that he purposefully took those blurry photos during episode 1 to help protect Clark's identity.

Throughout watching this series, my feelings have only been confirmed: it's absolute comfort food. Not everything works out. Some of that is in the rushed pacing, others in the villains not being a strong aspect. But it's more than made up for by the core dynamic, animation, side characters, and voice acting. This is my favorite Superman thing since the 90's animated series. On my own personal chart, I also considered this an 8/10 series: I like it a lot and think it has great potential to grow with more time to really breathe.

Your favorite superman thing since the 90's? That's probably all you watched then.
@iisanulquiorrahara8
@iisanulquiorrahara8 9 ай бұрын
@@SpikeTheWolf I wouldn't say that. If we're going by titles where his name or moniker is front and center, I've seen Unbound, vs The Elite, All Star, Man of Tomorrow, Red Son, Death & Reign, and Man of Steel. Between those, his easily best for me were vs The Elite and Red Son.. but I just have more of a soft spot for My Adventures' softer handling of the core dynamic. And if we want to go deeper into it with shared titles, I really liked Public Enemies, Apocalypse, and The Return of Black Adam; a lot of that is on the shared dynamic between him and Kevin Conroy's Batman or, in Shazam's case, working off Jerry O'Connell. This probably still isn't enough for my credentials, but sometimes a flawed series with just the right amount of high points appeals to me more than movies that happen to be solid, great, or even fantastic.
@SpikeTheWolf
@SpikeTheWolf 9 ай бұрын
@iisanulquiorrahara8 I mean it's your opinion, like whatever you want if thats true what you say but I don't agree. Since the 90s we had multiple movies, comics, and live action shows you probably didn't watch or read. I liked the show but wouldn't call it the best to happen to supes since the 90s, like how many are saying.
@iisanulquiorrahara8
@iisanulquiorrahara8 9 ай бұрын
You don't have to agree with my opinion. I never said it was the best; it definitely isn't on a 'quality' scale. But I said favorite, not best. I'll be frank, live action shows don't do much for me. Smallville came at just the right time for me to not care for the idea of watching it, so I've just never made the time to sit down and binge it. Even nowadays, we have the CW stuff which is fine, I guess. I'm not too keen on the Superman actor as of my time watching Supergirl, but I hear he's great in Superman & Lois. Just not really all that interested in seeing it. Comics don't grab me as much anymore, either. I'd just rather see things on screen instead nowadays. There's probably some movies I've missed still. Having an HBO subscription has really helped fill in some gaps for me, but I think I'll be okay if I skip ones like Doomsday or Braniac Attacks. On a side note, it's funny seeing your name pop up in a reply. I binged a lot of Blazblue OST here back in the day. That's another series I have a huge soft spot for.

I always thought that one of Superman's best scenes was when he went full on with fighting Darkseid in the DCAU. Because it showed how much he was holding back. And even then I think that version was still holding back to not hurt those around them. But seeing a Superman who hasn't fully figured out how to hold back or control his powers is nice as well. He still has that thing of knowing that if he doesn't he could break something, someone.

It honestly brought me back to the old Animated Superman series in the 90s. I really enjoyed it. No alteration, nothing too extreme, nothing’s complicated. Just the familiar Superman we all know and love. Which honestly with all these alternate versions of our heroes going about these days, this is actually refreshing and relaxing to just revisit the old Superman, not Injustice dictator, no brooding, no conflicting complexities. Just a guy who came from space and just wants to help people. Clark and Lois are just so goddamn adorable in this and I’m glad they’re already a couple and they got the relationship drama out of the way quickly. Their affection towards one another is just so sweet and heart-warming. Overall, great first season. I’m actually for once looking forward to a next season with high hopes.

I agree that a lot of the conflicts are resolved too quickly. I get that they only had 10 episodes to work with and in just 30 minutes or less it’s hard to do all this set up and payoff, but I wish they’d take their time with it a bit more. Like, the best episodes were episodes 8-10, mainly because it all felt like it’s own arc and took its time to set everything up. All in all, I REALLY enjoyed the show. Lois and Clark are super cute, Superman is handled as he should be, Jimmy’s funny as fuck and relevant, and I dig some of the changes to Krypton’s lore and Clark’s origin. Its like a mix of Man of Steel, the New 52 and a bit of the classic John Byrne Superman and even a bit of the DCAU Superman. Can’t wait for season 2. It’s getting really interesting.

I really liked this take of Lois. Everyone realistically reacts to someone who would be basically sticking her nose in everywhere and asking probing questions that are uncomfortable and sometimes inappropriate. She gets slapped down. A lot. But she also gets back up, learns from her mistakes, and uses her brains to get around the situation, which is a quality that is often attributed to Lois but not always shown. Especially since she probably managed to figure out who Supes is faster than any other Lois.

What I really liked was that even though they were remixing a lot of characters and stuff, they still stayed faithful to the characters' essence for the most part, AND they also paid homage and respected previous Superman (and cast) incarnations. There were so many references to golden and silver age comics, as well as the old animated series and all kinds of things. Even the evil Supermen referenced were ones from comic stories where he has been evil (you can tell which, too, because of the costumes). Also, god, I love this Lois Lane design. Also, the Flamebird name is from some old-ass shit, but that was Olsen's hero alter-ego way back in the day. So it's all references for old-ass fans and I love it. It's both a re-imagining for younger audiences, and a love letter for us oldies.

I agree with you Joe. Tbh, I'm not even a Superman fan. I only liked when he did badass super strong stuff and his relationship with Lois. This show made me actually like Superman. I'd recommend to anyone who is still teetering on the idea of giving it a try.

The best things about My Adventures with Superman is that it has heart and the relationships feel believable.

My only problem is that they introduced multiple realities too soon. But it's like a nitpick.

I'll probably check it to see a return to some traditional Superman mixed with some updates times. I already have Max and didn't know about this.

This is one of my all time favorite Superman depiction. Everyone constantly fails to understand the character or they just turn him into Jesus which can be a turn off for people. This show understands that this is a Superman who has both parents who taught him to be a good natured individual to not only himself and to others. Clark in turn doesn't focus on the legacy of his past and how this legacy leads to his destiny, he instead focus's on trying to be as normal as he can be because he is alone. He starts out at the same level as everyone around him, but as his powers manifest and his strength elevates he has to start being as careful as possible to not damage everything and everyone around him thus leading to his loneliness. He is the man living in a house completely made of thin glass from the floors, walls, ceiling furniture, dishes, appliances, and everything he could use for his everyday life to survive and he has to try not to destroy it knowing that he could break everything easily with the slightest movement. In the end this is the Superman that I want to see going forward. I mean I still liked how they did him with Man of Steel and Henry Cavill was fantastic as Superman, but the way this cartoon is written and the way the actor portrays him is spot on. This feels like the Superman I know from Man of Steel #1, this is the Superman that we lost during the Death and Return of Superman arcs, and this is the Superman that was so nice, caring, and determined to the degree that Batman despised. Please, WB/James Gunn, keep this Superman whether or not this series continues on, keep this Superman.

OT: I haven't seen a video about the Unity situation from you guys yet. I hope you got plans to discuss the situation, cause with your reach it would add much needed pressure to the company. A lot of indy are suffering cause of corporate greed, it would make Joe's corpo alter ego proud in fact. Glad you liked the new Superman show btw. I thought it would be horrible too, but no. They nailed Clark in this imho!

I thought it was good I definitely want to see another season. Although I think it’s a little schmaltzy, some of the animations look unfinished (for example the city of metropolis in some scene is just blue outline on white background), and character development was rushed as in just a few episodes we have the relationship between Superman and Lois, introducing the multiverse and the krypton backstory, it could’ve been a little less spread out
