you should have stopped at merriweather post pavillion because that was your last good album. your best albums were the first 5 or 6 of them. eversince merriweather the music youve put out has gotten progressively worse. the best things youve done since merriweather were the long game by panda bear and deakins solo music. this is from your biggest fan, someone who still to this day gets the most inspiration from your music above anyone elses. stop beating a dead horse and let it go. we dont wanna see the band in this condition. stop while youre ahead.

@@electricearth1101 Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but the last thing you should tell any artist is to stop exploring new sounds and force themselves to remain confined to one of their past works. This is very anti-Animal Collective, if nothing else.

While I agree with this sentiment, I would also suggest a few videos that I think capture some ideologies or themes just as well, if not better. Explosions in the Sky’s Postcards From 1952, Father John Misty’s Pure Comedy, the dual video of ‘Silly Me’ and ‘I Am Chemisty’ by Yeasayer and oh my gooodness, MGMT’s video of When You Die is darn near perfection (albeit, nightmare juice). Let’s not forget about a magnum opus of music accompanied by video, Pink Floyd’s The Wall movie. 👌

I love how you guys flip the concept of a bridge on it's head so often. Where most songs crank it up to 11 in the last minute you guys have a way of making these remarkably tranquil and ethereal breaks in the songs in a way that is almost reflective. Like you're looking back on the banger of a song you just listened to and just marinating. And it's not nearly as jarring as it should be.

Yeah for sure, the main melody is basically a copy of Westminster Quarters, which is cool because that's what bell towers use, so there's a connection there with the theme of time and 'going back'.

I feel like this is something Terry Gilliam would have made if digital animation existed when he was making cartoons for Monty Python, a perfect manipulation of 2D and 3D. I love it.

I feel this new sound makes Animal Collective so friendly to new listeners. Like a. 2nd chance of a Meriweather Post Pavilion, but way more polished. Nice one

Such an amazing song with groovy time signatures. I think the video pays tribute to some other ones like MGMT "When you die", Royksopps "Eple" with all the zooms outs, and The Avalanches " Subways" 1:38.

@@procerus4789 it makes total sense because I completely agree. It feels like they've taken their fine-tuned mastering they slaved over with Painting With and applied it to older ways of thought. Its also a really chill album. Never crazy, almost always cozy.

they should have stopped at merriweather post pavillion because at the time that was their least good album. obviously their best albums were the first 5 or 6 of them. eversince merriweather the music theyve put out has gotten progressively worse. the best things theyve done since merriweather were the long game by panda bear and deakins solo music.

@@electricearth1101 CHz was good, Painting With sucked ass. Aside from that they've been on their game at the same level of quality I'd expect from them, you can't just hope for an artist to be at their peak forever. Of couse there's gonna be downward spikes in popularity but it's not like they're honing it in at this point and this record shows it.

I just watched them live, one tab of some good medicine opened me up to how incredible of a group they are. They’re such a trip themselves. Never heard the human voice so passionately. Like their music sounds fun, but the delivery is drenched in passion and is so much deeper. Best live performance I’ve been to in my Life

The thing I really like is that its sounds so new for Anco (with the auto tune at the start 0:18) but at the same time it has the typical vibe of their classic records.

I feel like AnCo is the only real Neo-Psychadelic music because they constantly update their sound. Music technology always catches up to them, so they're forced to invent something new all the time to stay fresh, and they're doing a fantastic job of it! This band is almost 20 years old but every new album feels like revealing unexplored musical territory. It's pure magic.

@@waterglas21 1. I don't know if it's technically autotune here but 2. it's a vocal effect Avey Tare has been using his whole solo career and on many AnCo songs. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's not. I'm surprised at your reaction here because it's practically his signature sound at this point, that vocal effect and variations of it.

I feel like this video must have cool easter eggs. Soccer player = Soccer Star records? The dog = a pic of Derek (although I don't think that is a Shelty)? etc... Hopefully the band talks about this video if there are such cool easter eggs. I love the breathy sounding 3 hit beat that plays underneath in the song--never noticed it in live boots
