@@Animal1Guy Don't laugh. I know for a fact that Tad Cooper, (beardie) plays starved orphan for daddy when I'm not in the room. This is fantastic that the breeder was so compassionate about that situation. It could happen to any of us, really. I've had animals escape, it tears you up. I'm happy to be a patron, happy to donate to your gofundme for your new camera set up. I think it's going to be great. I have a question, not sure if you'd even know, but after watching chameleons born and cling to their mom's back, I have to ask now - how are the black throats born? Do they hatch from eggs and never know the mom? Or is it like the chameleon birth in sacks and then ride around on the mom for a while?

Hey, mistakes do happen. And as awful as if feels to lose an animal, you did still get him back! That’s extremely lucky. A family friend of mine and her son went to adopt a black lab from somebody halfway across the state a few years ago- they met the dog and absolutely fell in love with her, but on the way home they stopped for gas off the highway and the son had her on the leash to let her pee and something scared her, before they could really react she had pulled out of her collar and disappeared. They looked everywhere, they asked everyone they came across if they’d seen her, a state patrolman even saw them and after hearing what had happened, joined the search and alerted his team/unit/??? to be on the lookout for this dog, but she was just gone. They never found her. They were devastated, they called the woman they’d just adopted her from in tears like “We’re so sorry, we already lost your dog that you trusted we would take good care of, maybe she’s trying to find you but we can’t find her and we’re so so sorry” and the woman was so understanding. She wasn’t upset with them at all, I’m sure she was a bit sad but she was like “It’s okay, I know you’re good dog owners and I know you did everything you could and you couldn’t have predicted this would happen, it’s okay, please don’t blame yourselves” Maybe that’s not a great story because it doesn’t have a happy end, but the point is, these things happen. And it’s not due to negligence or a lack of responsibility, it’s not your fault, it’s not anybody’s fault. Flukes happen. Mistakes happen. All we can do is learn from what happened to keep it from happening again. It’s clear that you care so much for these reptiles, and you did do everything you could to find him! For an entire week! So try not to feel too bad about it. You did good.

NGL I love reptile escape stories. I've had my ball python (whose chilling under my sweater right now) since I was 8 years old. When I was about 11, he got out of his tank, same thing the key pin keeping his tank lid on was left out and I noticed about an inch or two opening. My family spent a week looking for him, similar to you, there was the "we've looked everywhere it's time to give up," moment, but we did eventually find him hanging in the arm pit of a jacket hanging in my closet. I have no clue how he managed to get up on the coat rack or high enough to reach into the coat, but that's where he was. He's now 21 years old, almost 22, and he's doing great.

They searched and couldn't find him. They started to think a dog or cat must have gotten him. About 5 months later the Leo ends up coming out to their son (11) Just like hey, feed me. He got out and then spent a week look for the safe smell...you! And that breeder sounds amazingly nice! Number 2 is a handsome little guy, a lot brighter in color, than O.G, black throat baby; seeing the two and their siblings differences & looks is cool, definitely different personalities, can't wait to see them develop. You are beyond lucky! But I can't imagine how distressed you were when you saw that cage door...ugh!!! Now you have black throat brothers!

Oh wow! Question, is it okay to keep two males in the same house? I remember you were telling us in one of the beardie and FAQ videos that you shouldn’t keep two of the same sex in vicinity? Sorry, I know nothing about reptile care (I only have a little floofy dog) and it’s been really educational watching you take care of yours.

Similar thing happened to me. Had a banded California king snake. Tiny thing, he was a baby. Anyway, he disappeared one day, I’m pretty sure he got out when someone in my family was feeding him and they didn’t notice (he was very shy). Couldn’t find him for MONTHS. He was missing for three months, until one night my cat was acting funny and trying to dig into the cabinet under the sink. Yeah, he was in there. No clue how he survived the three months though.

KId brought a garden snake into the elementary school library. I dug up a tank and supplies and put it on display. Two days later he brought in another one; I told him thanks but don't bring in anymore please. One escaped somehow! Principal was not pleased. Ordered me to find it, get rid of both. Never did find the escapee.
