New video just in time for the last day of Pride! Yep, it's another queer multifandom (there aren't enough animated multifandom videos out there!). I hope you all had a great month, and enjoy this edit! Info about the shows/characters/couples can be found in the pinned comment!
I wanted to make something like this for Pride featuring a bunch of awesome queer couples and characters, and I chose this song because I think it's really sweet and wholesome, and it was quite easy to edit to! Of course, we neeed much stronger messages than just 'love is love' on the whole, but I just wanted to have some cute queer love for this one, so it fit!
There are a couple of shows that you might find are notably absent here:
- The first is Steven Universe, which is absent because I haven't watched most of it, and I haven't watched most of it because I've heard a lot about huge issues with anti-Blackness (and other issues) in the show and fandom, so I decided against continuing with it. This is not a blame/hate post to anyone who has watched it, but that's why it's absent from my edits!
- The second is Arcane (specifically Caitvi) which is absent not due to a lack of love (I love them to pieces lol) but simply because the animation style and aspect ratio is different to all these other shows, and so it doesn't fit so well in an edit with them. I will sometimes include it, but I decided against it for this one :))
On the other hand, there are some shows/couples in this one which weren't in my last animated queer multifandom MV (History Hates Lovers: ). The new shows are RWBY and Dead End: Paranormal Park, and there are also some couples from She-Ra and The Owl House that I didn't include in the previous video!
Other notes:
- I wanted to make this more polished and have text and maybe colouring and stuff, but I didn't have time to do that and also post it for the last day of Pride, so I decided to leave it as is!
- All the major couples (i.e. pairings who play a major role in their shows like Korra and Asami, Luz and Amity, or Benson and Troy) appear in every chorus. The more minor and background couples may only appear once or twice.
- Each non-chorus line was given to one pairing/character, with audio for each one. The only exception is the line 'if the road gets rough' which I gave to Janai and Amaya. I couldn't find any relevant audio, as Amaya communicates via sign language, and Janai doesn't have many lines relating to her relationship with Amaya (yet). There is, however, what I think (according to a translation) is a relevant part of one of Amaya's lines included in one of the choruses ("she thinks I'm cute, but won't admit it yet.")
Trigger warnings: brief reference to parental abuse between 00:09 and 00:11 (includes other canonically abused characters but no other references to/depictions of); depictions of low self-esteem and self-deprecation between 00:16 and 00:25; some brief depictions of grief, implied bereavement, and characters struggling with trauma (as shown in The Legend of Korra, The Dragon Prince, and RWBY); very brief mild depictions of injury at 02:23 (other injured characters are shown but no other obvious injuries appear); also includes depictions of canonically dead characters, but no character death is shown.
I own nothing except the editing. The footage comes from The Legend of Korra, Harley Quinn, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Adventure Time, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, The Dragon Prince, The Owl House, RWBY, and Dead End: Paranormal Park. The images from comics come from the comics Turf Wars: Part 1 and Turf Wars: Part 3. The song is Love Is Love by Mary Lambert and Mary Kay Lambert.
