- I used a cover of this song because the original artist is ableist as hell and although I know nothing about the cover band, they don't have the high profile she does, so it's not giving any more attention to an already high-profile person who's done bad things! Also, I like this cover!
- Someone requested for Luisa Madrigal to be included and I saw it last minute, so her clips were chosen a little hastily and I didn't manage to fit any other Encanto girls in, but I hope people appreciate her being here anyways!
- Not all of these characters are heroes, but they're all strong, badass women and girls, and for too long, media was lacking both female heroes and villains of this calibre, so I included both!
- I couldn't include everyone I wanted to because there are so many awesome characters, but these ones are all super cool!
- Arcane has a different aspect ratio to the other shows, so I had to crop the clips a little to make them fit better in the video!
- I don't believe in gender essentialism ('all men suck', etc) because it reinforces a binary and fundamentally hurts trans men, otherwise marginalised men, and all sorts of people with complex genders.
- That doesn't change the fact that these badass women and girls are worth celebrating!! Remember not to include non-binary folks in IWD content though (unless they also ID as women) because that's misgendering and it sucks! We have our own day/week in July :))
- Most of these women are marginalised in addition to being women (queer, BIPOC, disabled, etc) and I'm happy to elaborate on any of this rep in the comments if anyone's interested, because too much IWD content focuses primarily on white, cishet, and/or abled women!
- There's a sad lack of trans women in this video (Perfuma being the exception), as transfem rep in animation is severely lacking!! But transphobic people are categorically and always unwelcome here. Sending so much love to trans women today (and every day) ❤️
