When Anna (Julia Roberts) walks through the door of the little bookshop at Notting Hill, Will (Hugh Grant) cannot believe what his eyes are seeing.
Notting Hill (1999). William Thacker (Hugh Grant) is a London bookstore owner whose humdrum existence is thrown into romantic turmoil when famous American actress Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) appears in his shop. A chance encounter over spilled orange juice leads to a kiss that blossoms into a full-blown affair. As the average bloke and glamorous movie star draw closer and closer together, they struggle to reconcile their radically different lifestyles in the name of love.

The depth of Anna’s character. She is a very emotional person (no wonder she became and actor). You can see the slight panic on her face after she kisses him. Like ‘what did I just do? The way she looks at him as he tries to give her something to drink/nibble is also quite endearing.

apricots with honey speech was both hilarious and pathetic. Followed on by the heavenly speech and boy it is heartbreaking. You see it Anna’s eyes, she acts with trepidation, but deep down she is moved by William’s honest admission. The kiss that Anna initiates IMO shows off her vulnerability, she is lonely and in William she has found a witty, decent and kind man.

Priyamvada Arte - This scene is still unrealistic to think about it, because not many people had mobiles at the time, but an actress of her calibre should have had one- My sister must have been one of the first people to have a consumer mobile phone in the UK, about 1994- (I remember being horrified because it cost her 60p a minute to make a call at the time)- I on the other hand hated them because I thought they were so impersonal when I would overhear people's conversations in public, and didn't get one 'til 2002 (when it started to get embarrassing not having one).

I've seen this movie more often than I should admit, and I could just watch it again and again. It's a perfect movie, not just a great cast, great script, but also great camera work (the camera coming closer on the kiss, zooming out after the kiss 10:25 - its connection with sound and music fills my heart) and the stage design with its great eye for detail. The keyword of the kissing scene is "surreal", right? 9:32 Now rewind and take a closer look at the fridge with all the magnetic poetry tiles 8:23 ... there it is, just a bit to the left of the screen's center. And that's no coincidence. I LOVE that movie!

Another one. William and Spike are playing the movie Gramercy Park. Google this New York p[lace and surf to 'notable residents'. Who lives there on #7...??? Coincidence...? And there is a lot more... Just a tip... What about Anna's hair...

In that case, you will certainly appreciate the blackboard at 7:19. Will has just apologised for the untidiness of the place and the blackboard reads, "SPIKE, CLEAN UP". So much thought has gone into every single frame.

I once met a famous person that way, Robert F. Kennedy about a year after he was elected to the Senate. I'll spare you the long story, but a group I was with was escorted to a waiting area before a speech he was to make. We walked into a small meeting room, and there he was. He was perfectly charming and never acted as if our presence was an intrusion. He engaged us in conversation for several minutes, until it was time to make his appearance.

I'm not a fan of RomComs but and I don't purchase many movies... but this one is in my movie collection. It's odd that I'm not really a fan of Hugh Grant as an actor but two of my favorite movies from this time period are Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral. It's the ensemble cast of friends that make the movies special.
