Anne Heche’s Son Homer Says Estate Can't Afford to Pay Her $6 Million Debt

Anne Heche's son, Homer, says her estate can't afford to pay the late stars $6 million debt. In court docs obtained by ET, Homer is seeking more time to resolve the creditor's claim. In the documents, Homer calls the estate 'insolvent' and claims it's worth $100,000.

@BonJoviGirl84 well when you become to head or executor ie controller of an estate you are in charge of the dealing with any issues that person has including paying off any debt etc

He doesn't need to pay her debt…. If her estate can't cover it then they take all they can and everyone will just have to eat the rest of the costs. He needs a good lawyer He does not need to stress about paying his dead mothers debts they aren't his or his fault.

Alot of you guys dont realize that your debt gets passed on to whoever inherits your stuff. Theres some legal ways to make sure that it doesn’t happen but if you dont do any planning, your debt gets passed down

Aside from being her son he’s the executor of her estate. He has a fiduciary responsibility to execute or respond to any claims. He should hire an Estate attorney to help him.

You are not obligated to pay somebody else’s debt specially when they are gone, especially children are not obligated to pay a parents debt. If there was money in the estate of course they can take you to court because the assets were actually originally owed the debt, but if there is no money in the estate unfortunately you are out of luck

Her estate will never be really finalized though like the majority of peoples. Since she is a actress she will continue to receive residuals from films and other things long after she is dead and its because of this that the estate will continue on. Also there is her likeness and voice that could be sold in the future for whatever reason.

Her debt in not his problem, let them take whatever is in he estate, and walk away. He will get nothing from it, however there is nothing in it, not really his problem. When my mother passed, me and my brother only paid enough to put her in the ground, no funeral or anything and just walked away.

He didn’t need to pay het debts ‘ when die your debts are automatically dissolved unless you are married then perhaps you have sn arrangement ! But she was single !! Het don had no need to worry as long as he has an estate attorney! It is all forgiven unless her estate was put in his name iriotcto her death!’ No problem

When someone is dead and gone the debts should disappear they shouldn't go after family or estates.

So their children should just get to keep their million dollar homes and other things they never worked for while whoever they owe money to has to eat it? That makes no sense. No he shouldn’t have to use his own money of course, but if my parents die and owe money, I will have to sell their home and pay it. I don’t just get to keep it and live in it.
