A decade later and not a single Minion animatronic in the park. Give me a Minion swinging on a chandelier...anything! This feels like Disney Quest. Having said that, it's an improvement on what was once there and I think we can let the kids have this one.

Thank you for following the rules and not filming on the attraction. I have seen so many of these newer, younger bloggers who think it’s cool to disobey the rules, be less than courteous to guests or staff just for clicks on a video and I think it is disgusting. I appreciate your review, but even more so I appreciate you being respectful of the theme park experience..

It is great that they have something that can be done by any age. Two concerns though, firstly whats to stop someone just walking backwards and causing carnage behind them just so that they can stay on one scene for longer to get a higher score, or a little one decides to make a dash for it? And secondly it looks like it actually might have some worse accessibility issues for those with physical limitations. I'm thinking along the lines of those that avoid moving walkways eg those with much slower movement speed where they are unable to step off in time at the end, people that are unsteady on feet, some ev chairs. Two hands on the gun also means no walking sticks.

From what I can tell, that this is a type of attraction that it's not supposed be a thrill one but more of a family one. To be honest I think they didn't have enough room to actually build a simulator or a dark ride in this building because if it's previous use as a movie theater for both Shrek 3-D and the Alfred Hitchcock show that was in the 90s. However, for what universal had to use it definitely looks cute and if I'm in the Florida area I'll definitely want to check it out.

Just a note, Murder, She Wrote was where Transformers now is (mostly). That building was mostly torn down for that. Shrek was originally Alfred Hitchcock.

I was there this weekend & really enjoyed Minion Blast! I think they should reduce the number of people on the conveyor belt by 2-3. Believe that will help the lagging issue & reduce that chaotic feeling while playing.

Perhaps the idea of not getting people in and out of vehicles will speed the turn over up. This is a great ride review for never seeing the actual ride.

Wasn't the location originally the Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies. I think the Murder She Wrote Post-Production show was a nearby location. I miss both of them or maybe I'm just getting very old.

I enjoyed the sunset behind you. I'm sure the kids will enjoy it and that's really all that matters to parents.

I think all florida parks need more mid tier attractions like this. Not everything needs to be an e ticket showstopper. Add capacity with more moderate stuff like this please!

Don't feel bad, Tom!! I did the same thing in regard to score. First time I rode Sat.: 820,000. Second time, when I thought I understood it a little better: 500,000. Back to random shooting for me!! And, when my older daughter was trying to explain the attraction to Holly, her first comment was, "It's great...we get to shoot Minions!!"

With all the talk of its being a standing ride and you on the conveyor belt it reminds me very much of the old mobile game where you're running around Gru's laboratory been one of minions jumping over things. I can't remember exactly what it's called. And it's clearly nice to hear something that everyone can participate in

At the moment, I’d say the best part of the ride is the queue for how detailed it is. I won’t spoil anything, but Illumination has always had a thing for background details that makes what they produce feel more full, energetic, and lively, and this ride is no exception; this ride is filled to the brim with details, even if they are static props

Just went on it, literally hours ago…a lot of kinks to work out with spacing guests and explanation of how the blasters and 2 buttons work. Also the laser is so hard to see amongst 20 others on the walkway, they just all blend in with each other. It’s an ok ride, totally different with the walkway moving but not worth more than 25 min wait which is what I waited.

This type of review from Tom would be considered a rave from everyone else. Personally, I'm shocked to see how much effort was actually put into this. I figured it was going to be a cheap rehearsal for this shooting system that could later be used for Zelda and/or Pokemon rides (Nintendo is insisting on interactivity). If it didn't work, then the experiment didn't cost that much and they could plop Secret Life of Pets into the space. After seeing how "gamery" they made the scoring with all the power-ups and different targets, I believe they're prepping this system for the future even more now. I can see that gun turned into a bow and arrow and you upgrading the arrows to take on different beasts, just like in a Zelda game. That, Tom, would probably be filled with way more practical sets.

Sounds like a lot of work for guests. Stand in a long, hot, mostly outdoors queue to get into the inner sanctum of queues to ride.. sorry stand and shoot stuff. Sorry wait first you have to make sure you get a charged (enough) weapon and learn your shape and color, then you get to stand on the moving walkway that you should normally be walking on, at least on the left side, or was it the right side? Plus connect your phone’s Universal app to it quickly enough during the “training period”? 😮 I’m hoping the AC rivals MIB at least

Shrek 4-D to me was epic

It’s not encouraging. These ‘mid-tier’ attractions are meant to entertain the little ones while the parents take the weight off their feet in some AC. With this one, you get the AC but no seat and have to lift a heavy gun. It sounds like you’ll come off it more tired than when you went on? I don’t know - unless you’re a big lover of the Minions this seems like a big waste of time.

All theme parks need rides every member of the family can do as an actually family.

It’s not a bad attraction, but it’s one the park doesn’t need. Something like this would’ve been fine in Islands, seeing as how that park isn’t so screen heavy and doesn’t have a shooter type attraction…. That being said, it’s fine for what it is. I wasn’t overly impressed, but I wasn’t disappointed either.

Wow, really shocked y'all gave this such high praise. We rode it today and we all walked away feeling it was OK at best. It's definitely an improvement over Shrek. The guns are too heavy, which is something we were hearing from a lot of people today. Not sure why you guys didn't show the inside queue which is awesome, we only rode once and every one in the room had a phone out taking pictures and team members didn't say anything. We didn't see anyone filming inside once the ride actually started though.

How's the TSA gonna feel about that toy blaster if you fly in from out of state and wanna take it back home?

So now there are three simulator rides at universal studios side and 2 shooting attractions. Yikes.

I want to go too Universal Studios Hollywood for I can meet the minions and go too villain con or minion Cafe and minion land OK.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again this attraction has disaster written all over it people, people, the way some people are today some idiot is going to run up and down the conveyor belt, acting a fool not to mention people they’re gonna try and steal the guns that they give out to use for the attraction. Don’t seem to have a good outcome in my opinion. Hate to sound negative, but this is the world we live in now. Some people just don’t know how to act. Thank you for the video.

TL;DR they liked it

The only reason these people are not going to say this ride is a complete dumpster fire is so they don’t get backlash from Universal. This ride would’ve been okay for maybe a Busch Gardens, Cedar Fair, Six Flags kind of place that doesn’t really focus on rides outside of mainly rollercoasters. But Universal? Shrek 4D wasn’t a groundbreaking attraction by any means but this is definitely worse and built with a lot less time and care. The ride is so rushed and cheap that they didn’t even give you a ride vehicle. And that’s not some sort of theme park innovation that’s Universal saving money slapping together a cheap Chinese style ride experience. We can take into account that this ride is mostly for small children, but are they even able to shoot over the railing? And you can guarantee that teenagers hopping over the railing will be a somewhat common occurrence until they eventually have to build a plastic shield around everything and make it even uglier. And yes, this ride is worse than Jimmy Fallon and Fast and the Furious. Not only do those rides give you a vehicle, but the video actually plays how it’s supposed to at full speed. You can go look at footage of this ride right now, some of the screens lag like it’s on a bad internet connection. So you know they cheaped out on the system that the game on screen is running off of. Who the hell would ride this when MIB is literally a 5 minute walk or less away. The main park really really needs some good attractions, and once again Universal has taken a dump on their original FL park with another en cheapened experience that they expect you to pay over $100 to see. At least they don’t do this kind of stuff to Islands of Adventure, Cat in the Hat is probably the worst ride over at that park and at least it’s really amusing.

I saw a pov video by another vlogger. It looks a bit disappointing. I would've like to see a few animatronics at least! 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ We need more "dark rides"!
