Just as an addition to my joke at the end (which I thought was very topical although some didn't 'get it') the system has the ability to 'mask' areas on each camera (turns those areas black) so as not to be able to see or record you neighbours property etc which I've already done.

I think the real problem that was reported in the news, is more about audio then video, I e the fact that innocent conversations in a garden would be recorded. Great video as usual 👍🏼

I was going to ask, the version you have looks to be the turret version which only comes with a mic. Is it possible to disable that in the settings to ensure you don't capture the audio of neighbours, which as @The_Judge_ says was the main issue in the recent ruling?

Great video, Stuart. I am looking to replace my wireless battery security cameras because they're a pain to have to re-charge every few weeks, so a PoE system like this looks ideal. I liked how you spent a good portion of the video explaining the logistics into getting the cabling sorted - that was where I was struggling to see how I'd install something like this but now you've made it a lot clearer!

A group of young lads ran up to the door knocked, then ran off a couple of weeks ago.. Have it all in crystal clear HD 🤣 Gives us all great peace of mind. Mammy keeps the app running on her ipad beside her bed so she can listen to the birds in the morning. The sound quality is 100% too. Super system and best of all no recurring or yearly payments. We got a discount from Annke for buying 2 systems together.. So it worked out at €310.00 each. If you're handy with techy stuff it'll take about a day to set up. Best of luck Robert 👍

@@Johnnie10ponnies Thank you for that. However, Synology NAS's are frequently used for surveillance purposes only, with Synology's bundled Surveillance Software being highly regarded. @@chrislyon8677 I’ve had a 2 bay Synology for about 8 years and had to replace a failing HD last year. That’s when I discovered that there are different HDs for surveillance recording rather than data storage as I nearly bought the wrong one as I use mine for mirrored back-up. They have a more robust mechanism for recording as it is in constant use. For occasion recording it should be okay but may reduce the life of your HD.

Just got this system yesterday and I've been watching a lot of installation videos trying to convince myself it's not going to be that difficult. This is the only one that concerns my specific system. I'm a wee bit concerned about the physical installation, because my husband will strip a gear if I drill holes in this house, but the whole IT part is much more intimidating. I hope it goes as smoothly as yours did! Thank you for posting!

Another great video Stuart. I recently installed the Ring security light/camera combos on front and back. I couldn’t face drilling through the render and brickwork for the cables so took the easier option and just unscrewed two existing up/down lights and replaced with the Rings. The only issue is that they’re only about 7-8feet from the ground so a reasonably tall person could easily disable them with their hand….
@AccountantDoesDIY
@AccountantDoesDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Also meant to ask - do you also have external insulation on the house between the brickwork and the white render? On your various projects where you’ve drilled through the render is there anything specific one has to bear in mind for such ext insulation? Other than using silicone around the holes I’m hoping there’s nothing else !

I see you have the same new build problem as me where they put the BT master socket in the worst possible place in the living room. I've just spent a weekend installing conduit to carry several Cat5e cables so I can take the VDSL signal up into the airing cupboard where I can house all my networking equipment, rather than stuffing it all behind the sofa on the floor, as well as take gigabit ethernet back to the living room, and all other rooms in the house. I can't believe they don't run it to an understairs cupboard as standard.

I used the same method of fastening the cable to a bit of pipe when I installed mine. I have an older NVR and it looks like they have updated the software. I have noticed I do not get alerts unless the app is running on my PC or I log into the NVR. Night vision is great until spider decided to make a web across the camera then I get notifications all night.

Very nice vid for an amateur installation.If you're REALY after security peace of mind double or triple the amount of cameras .We live in a bungalow so you are lucky you can mount the cameras out of reach ,we have the problem a determined burglar could simply spray the cameras by creeping up using a blind spot so you need to cover all the blind spots .All our cameras are covered by other cameras removing any blind spots. Your BIG problem will be spiders and unlike us you cant just brush the webs away lol .Another tip is remove the reference to watching the neighbours if you fall out with them they can use data protection laws to send you to court as you have historically said (even in jest) your cameras will be watching them .PS hope your burglers dont come on a foggy night your movement detection will be in overdrive recording fog! The masking feature unfortunately falls on its head if you use a PTZ camera and if you get addicted you will use them lol For older network cable systems you can simply add POE with a cheap dongle no need to replace an older NVR for newer cameras PPS remove the down pipe reference those naughty burglars now know where to cut your cables

Stuart, great video, have a system like that already and it's a great bit of kit. I might add that your QR codes were completely scannable from pausing the video and that while I know that Annke app is pretty good at 2 step authentication, it might be safer to edit them out completely as you will get some Muppet that will try to pen test your camera system. Keep up the good work great videos as always.

Nathan, picking up on your comment about 2 step authentication and pen test, what is this for ? Is this for people getting access into the camera system ?? sorry for me not knowing and any help will be great for when we install our cctv that we have just bought using the discount from this video thanks

@@scoobydoo6344 Two QR codes... one was for the app, which is likely the same no matter the customer... the other was SN, which I presume means serial number... which links his DVR system to the app... I sure someone will need a password too but that makes it a lot easier for someone...

Great video, really enjoy your videos, you have some excellent skills. I'm thinking it's time I fitted cameras, especially with the way things are these days, and wondered how are these cameras now you've had them in for a year? Also, will the code still work please. Cheers Richard.

How thick is your soffit board? Why did you drill holes before screwing into the soffit? Would the screws not fall out doing this?

Thank you for your video. you installed on a celling . which camera do you recommend for wall installation?

Turret cameras such as these can be installed on a wall, but they do have limited adjustability. The best type of camera for a wall installation would be a bullet camera.

Hello…. I have cat 6 cables running in my walls going to different rooms. I am thinking about installing NVR security cameras via POE…. My question is can POE cat 6 cables and regular cat 6 run together? Will there be interference or heating from the POE cables?
