The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.

The production of an effective MRNA vaccine certainly deserves recognition on its own for the benefit this will bring in the future. What it did to subdue the COVID pandemic is surely deserving of a heroes medal on their own. The speed at which they were able to accelerate the advancement of the research should stand as a milestone in human achievement!

i think from a view point of a literature learner, mRNA is sensible enough to be a front line soldier to observe our immunity system from being conjugated to virus, or into a early stage of deformation of cancers, or any abnormal cell forms.
