Thank you the video! The "Acer Aero" fan was making noise. Pulled both fans out, cleaned. The Aero fan continued to make a bit bit of noise. One very small drop of light weight oil from the garage (not sure what exactly weight, etc.) in the hole and the fan no longer makes noise. Appreciated!

After cleaning the fan from dust, you should have lubricated the hole where the fan is placed. This will remove that noise.

The fan on my Triton Predator 300 has always annoyed me, but last night it started to sound way worse, like a piece of plastic was also fluttering around inside; after watching this vid, I can understand the dust is likely responsible, and I'm going to follow your steps - thank you!!

Mine sounds like a tricycle (you can google it up for reference). The plastic fan spins with ease. The metal fan does not. I cleaned it up but its still the same. Turns out that the blade kinda hits the housing for the fan. Loosened it up a bit and it reduced the noise. I am just worried maybe it can cause any damage to the fan. Can anybody suggest the best course of action for this?

I went to pop my right (CPU) fan back in and apparently I broke the little peg off that keeps it balanced. I noticed it was more resistance than what I thought it would be, so I thought that was strange so I pried the fan with a screwdriver and that snapped the little peg. So if you're getting resistance, don't force it! Just get a can of air or use a compressor if available! I did find a replacement on Amazon for 18 bucks shipped, but now I have to wait four days to use my computer.

you need to push it from the other side or just poke it with a little tool to make it move outwards.. if you have same model as mine, it should be just a magnet type of fan, there should not be any strong resistance.

My gpu fan started to making sounds and I immediately followed your tutorial. But after cleaning, it didn't seem to remove the ticking sound as it rotates. When I disassembled the fan and manually tried to rotate it, it works but it makes a sound whenever a rotation is done. I checked each blades of the GPU fan but did not see anything wrong. At this point, I have no idea what to do. I feel like I shouldn't buy a new GPU fan since its current rpm is around 6100+ at max.

What were you thinking using water to clean the fan. That is stupid among so many levels as your likely to make the problem worst. EVER HEAR OF RUST! Never ever ever use water on your laptop fan. Especially on expensive aeroblade fan that has metal blades. Its not your desktop plastic fan. If you were going to do water, you should at least check for erosion protection which is unlikely for this product. The next problem is that there is no way you were able to prevent this for 89 blades. Your going to have rust without doubt.
@yanalois2051
@yanalois2051 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. i know your concern, but you know rust only is made when iron is oxidized. Right? the fan blades are made of of stainless steel. There is no iron, nothing will rust. it will only rust if you use chemicals that can oxidize the chemical composition of the blades, like sea water which is high in salinity. But water never do that with stainless steel. Stupidity is when you dont know what you are doing or saying. i have been cleaning the fan for twice a year for more than 2 years now and everything is good. and my laptop is working perfectly. 😉
@zombwars7749
@zombwars7749 2 жыл бұрын
@@yanalois2051 stainless steel can rust as it's a form of iron, however is normally coated so it's likely it won't rust depending on the quality. Given Acer is high quality, good job! I would have never thought of that. Might have to do more research and try it myself. The following is an additional statement, however it depends on the interactions with the other alloying elements that prevents rust for stainless steel in most cases.
