Great reaction! KZ is my favorite singer. She always seems to find a way to make her cover versions unique. She's a good songwriter too. Like others said, the rap was in Tagalog. I've seen a translation and it boils down to her saying to the ex boyfriend that he messed with the wrong woman and will pay for it. This is an angry version as opposed to Adele's wistful version. The Singer is a Chinese TV singing competition. Most of the singers are from China but they bring in two foreign singers each season. This season it was Jessie J and KZ. KZ wasn't well known outside of The Philippines and this was her first performance on the show. The other singers hadn't heard of KZ and didn't know what to expect. KZ was the winner on this episode but Jessie J won the season. Jessie J is KZ's idol and there was a very cute clip of them meeting for the first time. KZ was so starstruck that she could barely speak.

"I love the way they arranged this song for her." Yes. You'd be surprised to know she arranged it herself in order to make the song FIT HER VOICE. She does implement this atmosphere quite a lot. It is especially evident in her rearrangement of existing songs as well as in the songs she wrote (yes she writes and composes as well). She used to be a power belter when she was waaay younger (like childhood younger). Then she was diagnosed with having polyps, so she was devastated, depressed and she wanted to forget about singing at all. You see in the Philippines power belters are literally everywhere. It's so popular among Filipinos and it's very common among Filipino vocalists. Our music industry is quite diverse, actually, but if you're exclusively a singer, people expect you could belt. This led to the misconception among singer aspirants that the only way to be a famous singer is to be a power belter. Eventually, KZ discovered that there isn't just one way to sing. So she studied and explored a variety of music. She also found how RNB and Jazz fit her perfectly not only in voice, but in personality as well. She could even imitate a trumpet's sound lol. All in all, it led to her discovery of self, so while she had that slump in the beginning, now she's definitely happier and found a flavor in music that eventually people will identify as hers. Oh and she just got married last August. Her husband is a fellow singer-songwriter who she has been with for 6 years now.
