What kills me is everybody wants to defend this show because of the people who did there jobs well "I GET THAT" But just because you get some answers right on a test doesn't mean you passed. THE KEY HERE IS HOW WE GOT THERE (BAD or LAZY WRITING) Were not mad at anybody else, but D & D they lead you all off a cliff and i won't justify it just because the cast and crew tried their hardest to polish "SHIT". (THE STORY MADE NO SENSE) meaning the road to get there was unbelievable from Teleportation, Complete Character personalty changes with no reasoning, Instant deaths with no explanations or if at all even being possible all for the sake of plot. I could go on but my point is clear If you tell a story with this many inconsistencies it stop becoming a story it just words.............Great work to all who made this show possible but FUCK D & D for this utter trash

Him being targaryon he was able to pass drogon and get close enough to kill denarys. Without him, tyrion would be executed, and she would go on to "liberate" the rest of the world. Jon saved the world.

I watched a video made by the newrockstars channel. They gave the explanation for Jon being a targaryon. You don't have to like it but it's still an explanation of why Jons heritage is important. I initially thought the discovery of jons heritage was pointless as well. But, after being given an explanation, it doesn't matter if I agree with it or not, I cannot refute that his heritage is pointless now.

The way I see it, Jon being Aegon was just a twist to show that at the very end, who you are doesn’t dictate who you’ll become. Instead of being forced into ruling because of his Targaryen heritage, Jon instead becomes a wildling and lives his life beyond the wall. Hell of a bullshit way to tie up the plotline, but that’s D&D for you.

Atoya Morris Bronn should have bern executed in episode 6 for threats made in episode 4. Or - if there had been some decent writer - he would have just warned Jaime and Tyrion in episode 4 and gotten a payoff (but not Highgarden) in ep 6. Wasted characters in season 8, Bronn, Euron, the Night King Jon and Bran. Possibly wasted Sam, Missandei...

ChrisisisB Yup. Wasted 90% of the characters. I’m did like that Sam finally became a maester, though. Of course, it was like the ONLY thing I liked. But def wasted Messendei. 1,000% Still don’t get how they captured her. Or even how they knew to take “her” in the first place. Out of everybody. Cersei had no idea who she even was to Danny. Kinda like how Danny lost half her army in episode 3 but they were suddenly resurrected in episode 4 without either the knight king or Melisandre bringing them back. 🤔 This whole season was a big “fuck you, who cares” to all the fans who’ve been invested from the premier, day one. A true shame!

How nice of the CEO, is he also going to write the skripts? Or any of you? No, then maybe shut the fuck up. Having more seasons just means more skripts to write, more to plan ahead for, like 4 or 5 seasons sometimes. There is a fucking reason George takes 10 years for a book, because he revises a lot of it, scratches whole storylines and chapters and writes new ones. DnD had to write a season a year, and produce it, set building, casting, filming, editing. All in one year. I doubt that George RR Martin would have done a much better job with these final seasons, if he was showrunner. The reason he left Television in the 90s to go back to books, when he started this book-series, it was because of exactly these kind of time constraints, where you have deadlines that have to be kept. That and budgets. Which is the other problem. 4 more Episodes this season for example, does not mean that they get another 60 Millionen for those four episodes, adding to the 90 Million they had for the 6 episode season. They would have gotten maybe a bit more, but the rest would have had to come from these 6 episodes. If you wanna blame someone, blame George RR Martin, according to whom, the show should have never overtaken the books. Winds of Winter was supposed to be out by season 4 or something like that. If they have had the last two books, fully fletched out, they could have done a better job in some parts. In some cases they did what they could. Like with Jaimies storyarc in the end. That was intended for books, where we are in the characters heads. That is sometimes hard to adopt at all.

One other thing you didn't touch on, when Bran let Sansa make the north independent, as if Yara and the nameless Prince of Dorne wouldn't instantly secede! Dorne and the Iron Islands have been trying to be independent for decades!

You know what the really sad part is? I never stuck for GoT. Didn't care for it. I had lots of friends, even non-fantasy-buffs, who loved it. I had heard such great things about it, and I thought that I should perhaps give it a second chance. And now... now I am just happy I didn't waste my time. I am genuinly sorry for all those disappointed by the show and its ending. :-( (And I know your pain, being a Star Wars-fan, having seen the first two so-called sequals, which to me have the same status as Highlander 2.)

Don't forget that Sam, despite never having even been a maester and whose last altercation with the Citadel involved stealing a number of priceless books from the forbidden library, instantly becomes Grand Maester simply because Bran must have commanded it off-screen. Grand Maesters are chosen by the council of Archmaesters as a representative of their order to sit on the small council and not by whoever the audience likes best.

This is a strong point, and it is related to a major failing of the later seasons of GoT. Yes, there is widespread character assassination, but we should relate it to the writers' utter failure to respect a major point of fantasy writing--world building. The lords, ladies, maesters, septons, etc. of Westeros somehow forget and/or cease caring about the values, traditions, and history of their land. A major failure in this area was the bogus ascent of Cersei LANNISTER to the throne. To the very limited extent that anyone in the Seven Kingdoms would have accepted her rule, this would have been based on a claim that she was continuing the Baratheon dynasty. She blows up the Sept of Baelor, murders a huge number of people (including a very popular queen and a bunch of Lannisters), delivers a septa to be tortured, essentially brings the honored tradition of the Kingsguard to an end, and so on. In a properly written story, Cersei would have had trouble getting out of town alive. The idea that she was able to rule anything for any period of time is not even a good joke.

The importance of Joffrey as a supposed Baratheon king was obviously important, but ignored by the writers in the last few seasons. I've pretty much moved on from GoT, but I stand by my comments. They are important in my future reading, viewing, and criticism of fantasy stories.

It's the only part of this video I skip every time because the disappointment in George's voice is like an echo of the disappointment of every actor, director, cinematographer, costumer, and everyone else who worked on this epic series and saw it as a beautiful labor of love that was stomped on, crushed like broken glass ground into the dirt, eaten and shat out by D&D. Before the last season was about to air i had already to planned to re-watch the whole show, but more slowly so I could take in whatever I had missed when I binged the first 5 seasons (because I got hooked and obsessed with the show) before 6 had aired. When the series finale was done, I knew I wud never watch this show ever again knowing that THIS CRAP is what it was headed for. Thanks D&D!

He was killed eons ago by the ancient hero Azor Ahar who stabbed him with a flaming Valyarin sword and after some time, he returned and rebuilt his army of White Walkers and Wight's again.

Thinking about it now it's probably the best line those two idiots wrote by themselves, made me laugh and more being Cercei the one dreaming about them. The absurdity of such personage actually believing that a giant and probably the best target for a dragon ever, certainly first to go while clashing hundreds when it's killed it's something that will bring some plus to her army is hilarious. Yet not as hilarious as the moment when Dany put end to the entire golden company in 5 seconds of screentime that absolutely did nothing in S8 and kinda forgot about the giant dragon piloted by an angry as f**k Targaryen Queen that was absolutely done with everyone and everything...especially the bells that seemed to trigger the Targaryen crave for fire and blood, burning the city. Probably the mention of elephants at the end of S7 was like the first sign that S8 will be the greatest TV disaster in decades. The rest was just depressing, and not in a dramatic moment depressing because the character I loved is murdered (as I don't even consider this canon) but how bad it was. I went from crying like a baby because of Viseryon death in S7 to just watching in shock how such a series were destroyed not even caring about the dragon number 2 death as it was so out of blue that I didn't even have time to care. In conclusion, we did not get elephants, but boy everyone will remember them ...or lack of them.

The worst part of this season is the people defending it. They are the reason why many writers like D&D get away with insulting the audience’s intelligence and ability to follow character arcs and storylines along. I don’t care if some of the stuff was “foreshadowed” such as Dany’s madness (heck, I saw her becoming the “Mad Queen” eventually due to how GRRM likes to corrupt anyone going after the throne and so on plus all the other subtle hints they gave), the execution was absolute garbage and they should be called out on it. I don’t care if Jaime never stopped loving Cersei and he was always meant to return to her, the execution leading to that which ignored YEARS of character development and contradicted many of his own past actions and quotes (like “I don’t care about the people of KL” yet he became the Kingslayer to protect said people and his family??) was absolute garbage and they should be called out on it. I don’t care if Jon is in love with Daenerys for no reason other than the plot, his character becoming a complete simpleton who has not done anything of worth the whole season other than say “My Queen” is absolute garbage and they should be called out on it. And it goes on and on. Not to mention all the prophesies and character arc build ups that have been ignored (like wth was the point of Arya training for years to be a faceless assassin if it only took ONE talk to move on from revenge? What was the point of building up Jon Snow to kill the NK just to give that kill to Arya? What was the point of coming up with the prophecy for Cersei’s death if a CEILING killed her? I guess the ceiling was her third brother). People are not upset because they are “Bad endings”, people are upset because it is “bad writing” that makes no sense with what was established prior. No one was expecting happy endings nor expecting exactly what they wanted but they were at least expecting coherent writing that fit all the lore and characterizations. When shocking things happened in previous seasons, they happened for a reason and because the writing was leading to them (I.e. Ned Stark’s death, the Red Wedding, etc.) which is why, while some got upset at losing their favorite characters, they continued watching. Because while sad, it made sense. This season is trying to “subvert expectations” but failing to do proper set up due to prior seasons contradicting most of what has happened here or simply not doing enough build up to have it make sense.

those ppl either jumped on the hype train in season 7 or the finale season and binged the entire show then or where never real fans of the story and love to throw out your just mad because your favorite character didint get the ending you wanted and you knew it was gonna be bittersweet and "severt" trying to use the greatness of georges story and his commitment to write it out as perfect as he can and tie all this vast world together against us the true fans of the story show and books because they dont understand it

You've got one tiny thing wrong. Harrenhal was attacked by 1 dragon, not 3. However, in the defense of your argument, that 1 dragon was Balerion the Black Dread, a 150 year old dragon. Dragons never stop growing, which means that they get stronger as they age. Drogon is 6 or 7, 8 at the most. Not nearly as powerful as Balerion. But the Game Devs did give him the Dynamite Breath ability. In my opinion, Dynamite Breath is OP and ruins the meta. The devs really need to look into a balance patch.

The latter half of Season 7 and a lot of Jon's Snow's story was entirely like the dead are such a threat we need to get our biggest rival (Cersei) on team living to battle them. They sold it well, the throne is secondary to the battle between the living and the dead. They all revert back instantly once the Night King is gone like all the alliances made for that battle did not matter at all.

@@9BallBory He said it won't be exactly the same. And I doubt that we'll be mad about the end, because George R. R. Martin will stay true to the nature of ASOIAF, he won't be teleporting people around Westeros, he won't be killing off characters without actually showing how it all unfolds, I doubt the tactics used won't be as shit, and battles will not be a main focus, just like they never where. If I wanted to see action, I'd go watch Blackhawk Down or smt, book fans want intrigue, backstabbing, all that good stuff that ASOIAF has always so greatly provided. I obviously can't speak for everyone, but most people I know and see, who also read the books, want the same as me, so I'm inclined to think that this is what most people want.

I could NOT figure out why HBO wouldn't just say, "Dan, David, take your time, make a few episodes, get us up to Winterfell and we've got some guys who'll bring it home." Could have saved the show and made them a bunch of $$$$ with lots of zeroes behind it. But if D&D OWN it...they just shit on themselves, then. Actually, that's better.

I don't have a problem with her to be the one who kills him, my issue is the execution. Arya literally spawned behind him and it felt wrong killing the Night King at that moment because from what I got out of that show is that the message is: it doesn't matter who sits on throne, it doesn't matter who is enemy with who because at the end everyone has to join together to survive a bigger threat. Yes, I sort of wish Jon would be the one who kills the Night King but that's because I needed a reason for him to come back from the dead, at the end all Jon did was killing Dany while Arya could have done that as well, specially since she was in the whole barbecue mess at King's Landing. She had a perfect reason to kill Dany and had her abilities to do so. Jon was not required for that and again that doesn't give us an explanation why he came back from the dead. And don't tell me Jon's purpose was to unit the armies for the battle, I'm sick of my friends always telling me that. The army was not necessary if all needed was Arya to spawn behind the Night King. The lord of light could have found a better way to guide Arya to the white walkers. Also, another thing noticed and you reminded me of it with "Martin isn't an idiot, he purposefully chose those names". Yes, Martin put a lot of hints in his books and it feels like everything has its purpose. So, what was the purpose of Dany being fire resistent? I always thought that element had a purpose to deal with the white walkers but we didn't get closure for it in the show.

Some will say that the journey is more important, but that is bullshit. Every good story needs a good conclusion, even it's a tragedy. Stories shouldn't be exactly as real life. They live on drama. Things that lead nowhere happen in real live, but in stories, it's Checkovs gun all over again. Star Wars suffers also from lack of basic writing skill. "JJ mysterybox man", "RuinyourexpectationJohnson" and KompletePropagandaKathlene" are inept as well.

This is the best recap I have seen about this catastrophe ending. I wish there was more discussion about Vareys. I absolutely hate how his character ended. His story was built up about the end game and then nothing. Nothing clever was done by him...what a waste of a great character. Again, great video man!

Like I thought they made it fairly clear he had basically orchestrated the whole thing. Not defending this shit ending, but yeah it's made fairly clear, or I felt it was, that Bran had played them all through S8 maybe further back even and this was just his final gloat.

"Subverting Expectations" is one of the most misapplied terms in popular cinema today. It doesn't mean "go on social media, read all the fan theories, and do something else." Subverting expectations means I can go to a cartoon with my kids about an old man tying balloons to his house to make it fly and then having to deal with talking dogs and then realize it's also a careful meditation on grief, aging, and learning to let go of things so we can embrace people.
