Of course they’re gonna blame it on the streaming service and covid. If they blame it on their racism, the quality of editing, the blatant inaccurate portrayals of various aspects of Chinese culture, or the horrid quality of the script, that would mean that *they’re doing something wrong,* and that *would be terrible PR,* and openly admitting THAT *would be a horrible and unjustified hit to their reputation* which would cause them to *lose a lot of money.* they can’t *afford* such a thing, why in the WORLD would the choose to be the bigger man and *own up to their mistakes* when they can *pin the blame* on something beyond their control. No shapeshifting witches, no chi (qi) and Mulan also NEVER SHOWED THAT SHE WAS A WOMAN!!! In the original poem, she hid her identity the entire time she was in the military. It wasn't until she had left service and gone home when some of the soldiers that had served with her visited her home and she met them dressed as a woman. That was the first time anyone knew that she wasn't a man.

Bottom line: Disney sucks! Disney has become a pale shadow of it's former self--- when Walt Disney ran the show. Walt was creative and he insisted on bringing in the most creative people in the movie industry to create and tell amazing stories. they were made up of real people who were flawed characters, who worked hard to grow and they managed to do amazing amazing things in the process--- just like the rest of us! Those are the kind of characters that people can really relate to, and learn to love. Disney now has become a PC-Toxic environment that churns out lazy, easily forgettable live action adaptions of the treasured cartoon classics (that people actually liked) --- just to keep the Mouse House afloat! Disney can't resist adding in despicable identity politics that taint the original directive and destroy the message of the original beloved films. They twist the characters and turn them into a toxic mess! No one is going to thank Robot Iger for that! But hey, destroying an entire company is a small price to pay for "The ride of a lifetime"! Disney movies used to be classic entertainment for the whole family. Now, they have become fruit of the poison tree! RIP.

Walt was not a completely squeaky clean guy, but he knew what he was doing, was a good businessman, had a creative vision, and was a hard worker who was dedicated to his craft. Also while he could be a ruthless guy who loved money he had some shred of morals like not being pro-dictatorship. I think that Disney nowadays has none of the competition that Walt or the 90s Disney had to compete with, and it’s just grown too big for its own good. Like some of their decisions don’t even make sense from a money standpoint. Their animation is still good though, so there’s that at least?

Aw man, I've always seen disney as one of the top places to be for animation. I did some studies on disneys history and it was fascinating to me that it inspired me to become an animator. So sad to see this is what has become of them. Who the hell are behind these decisions because there's starting to be a growing number of movies with the worst decisions put to film and it seems it's getting worse. Im starting to see the talk about "cuties" now. It's not just movies, I feel its every kind of entertainment people enjoy today or would categorize as men are toxic because that game or that movie. So they aim to change it by forcing a women into the roles, trash every man or at least over exaggerate how bad they are to the point it makes no sense or the attempt should have never happened. When I say bad I mean they can't compete to women and it's all the men's fault. If they're going to do that, make their own story, movie or game instead of trying to butcher what was all ready great just because they have some dumb fan made solutions that will impact politics. I hate politics or that sort of nonsense because it's got nothing to do with me but they're trying to put it in everything I like to entertainment myself with during downtime. Yeah I'm staying with manga, manwha, anime, weebtoons, novels and jrpg if that is the standard of writing from our western creators.

I have to think that "hubris" is the best word to describe Disney's current approach to audiences. They are so big, have such an iconic history, they can't fail. They can do anything they please to their audience. When a cadre has that kind of approach, and they share a social and political ideology, inevitably they will make acceptance of their ideology the objective of their efforts. In fact, that often succeeds. But not if you have the hubris to believe you can trash the basics. Disney is learning it is not too big to fail, that, indeed, bigness may contribute to failure. They are learning that the good will capital built up by through an iconic history has to some extent aged away and to a greater extent has been squandered. All by ignoring the basics, because they've forgotten what the basics are. It seems to me an open question whether Disney survives much longer, at least in its present form.

Whoever coached Yifei's action scenes didn't tell her about "The Eye of the Tiger" or "Killer Instinct" . Her fight scenes are not convincing. She has absolutely no expression. In martial arts, when you spar, if you try and have an emotionless face, you end up getting caught. I don't know if it was the coaches, her lack of acting ability ..

And that's the issue with Disney live action remakes....they use way too much CGI and try going for this dark/edgy look😂😂😂 its like they use the same game-plan for all of them and don't realize its not working and maybe they should just stop
@IMayOrMayHaveNot
@IMayOrMayHaveNot 3 жыл бұрын
They've pulled some dark stuff in the past and it worked just fine, and CGI in excess is not a problem either if it doesn't affect the actual main problem: the storytelling. They fail to understand people are drawn and moved by stories where the characters work some form of connection with the audience, but you can't have none of it if there's no proper character and world development, 2 things in which they fail miserably in many of their remakes because they don't even bother comprehending why the original animation was constructed the way it was. You can't tackle a car engine without learning how every part contributes to make it work properly.

Disney's all have to do is to come up with a new songs. From You'll Bring Honor...to A Girl Worth Fighting For. But retaining the essence of each song. New songs, new music in a way will feel the live action adaptation fresh and new. But the really tricky part was of that Mushu & the Cricket.

It does not stay true to the original ballad. It actually goes opposite to the original message. Mulan was an ordinary young girl not someone born with any special ability. it is the ordinariness that inspired generations of people. She had no loyalty to the emperor. She did all these just for her family.
