He was telling Criston, I know what is going on between y’all so as long as you keep our secret we will keep yours. He didn’t know that Criston and already told the queen, and was having to deal with the feeling of: breaking his kingsguard oath, not being able to be with Rhaenyra, betraying Rhaenyra to Alicent, and then having to watch Rhaenyra being married off to a guy who he just learned was gay and therefor doesn’t love her. Kind of a perfect storm that causes him to snap.

Alicent is likely vouching for him. She is the queen Plus based on what Corlys said this episode he doesn't approve of Laenor liking men so Criston killing Joffery might not be a negative thing in Corlys's mind.

Laenor is heir to Driftmark but not a prince and since the wedding hadn't happened yet he was just Rhaenyra's betrothed. His father is a Lord and his mother is a Targaryen princess. Only the father's title would pass down. Based on the conversation his parents had earlier I'm guessing they probably wanted Joffrey out of the way of this marriage and hoped Laenor would grow out of this so called phase. It would've been up to them to take offense at what happened but I agree that Ser Criston should no longer be a part of the kingsguard at the least. It'll be strange if they don't address how he can get away with this. I feel like the show runners left scenes on the cutting room floor and let us piece it together the best way we know how. It's probably intentional and keeps the fans discussing the show throughout the season.

Cristin is part of the kings guard so I'm guessing they have a lot of freedom to kill who they think is a threat so most killings by them would be excused. It was pretty chaotic during the fight so I doubt many people saw Cristin hitting Laenor. Alicent wearing green is a very subtle way of showing she wants war however there is no dress colour code or anything. So no reason to stop her, most would assume there is no deeper meaning to it.

Cole Told the queen the truth and was ready to DIE! Besides being down bad, Cole was scared and worried about his HONOR! The Idea of some random person telling you that they know your secret (regardless if its in both of your favors) and your an elite knight bound to the kingdom that will kill you if they found out what you did. This season is all about place setting. So that requires time jumps otherwise the story would take forever. The subsequent seasons will be all about the Dance of Dragons. Its going to be fire!

@@peepinR the two biggest pain point I foresee are the actors aging out and the multiple battles all over the map - plus how they communicate the scale and size of the dragons matters as well, i think it comes down to 11 vs 4 or something close to that ratio.

@@sfdko3291 Story takes place over decades - like current cast of teenage leads are over 50 or so by end of story, meaning recasting. Plus there ends up being so many battles all over the map and new characters and dragons, it will hard not to get lost. Plus the old king - that actor is killing it - he is like the only real good guy of the story, when he dies it will be interesting to see how the story unfolds without the actor being the stories center of gravity, given the amount of new leads as the old leads age out of their role.

I've got bad news for u. Sort of.

Alicent and Viserys weren’t sleeping together before marriage. Viserys never would have done that to her reputation. They were meeting together for six months before they got married and she could have easily gotten pregnant in that time. Alicent was being an emotional comfort to him. He came to depend on her companionship and that’s why he chose her. He was still mourning and not thinking about her romantically. He only chose her after everyone started pressuring him to remarry and his only other option was a 12 year-old child. The main difference is that Viserys basically ordered Alicent to keep their meetings from Rhaenyra. So, she wasn’t lying; she was obeying her king. In the same fashion, Rhaenyra should have told Alicent the truth because she’s the queen on top of, supposedly, being her best friend. So, Alicent feels like she was lied to and her position was disrespected.
