I got an email that these particular guns were on sale and impulse got the better of me even though I had vowed to not buy any more of the troubled guns coming from Ethiopia, I succumbed to a moment of weakness and pulled the trigger

Those notches were made for a upper hand guard, when they were issued to Bulgarian troops, mostly common with the 88/95 rifles

I figured it had something to do with a hand guard that clipped on. I guess finding one of those is a lost cause, it seems the safety is also is scarce as hen’s teeth.

The whole dark looked like it had ample rifling. Keep an eye out for the update.

RTI is a great source for cheap surplus, if you know what youre getting into.

I like a good project so it’s not as much of a risk for me and if the price is cheap enough I know I can add value to the piece by working on it. I also like the historical provenance each one has that tells it’s story. Thanks for commenting!

Never tried RTI, although two recent rifles came from IO and they were very dirty, but complete. Gotta love a good project.

RTI is hit or miss, I have seen some real basket cases come from them but they do get some rare and unique guns. IO is the same company I believe.

Looks great . I got one as well but unfortunately the stock is completely cracked near the magazine well .

Thanks! They are well used and took quite a beating when they went from black powder to smokeless. I just cleaned mine up and boiled the rust and it looks 100% better. That video coming soon!
