Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

It will change as you get older. It was hard for all of us at 18. You have to go through a couple of breakups, watch many videos, self discovery, time alone, time in community, etc. - before you finally learn how to really cultivate and maintain a strong relationship. But, at 18 - trust me - it’s difficult for MOST of us.

As somebody who's launching a business and recently split up with a girlfriend who didnt understand my vision and kept demanding more attention and more time while questioning my value as a partner for being so involved in work, I feel SOOOOO reassured by this video. :') I just haven't found my Leila who will UNDERSTAND the goals I have for myself and who will willingly choose this lifestyle, knowing the sacrifices that come with it.

New relationships take a lot of time so if you are focused on launching something I would put my effort into that and then add in later looking for the right type of partner who is ok with the lifestyle of an entrepreneur. My partner and I met at a business conference so we already were in the same mindset, but we ended up putting a lot of time upfront to get to know each other bc we thought we were a life long match and now we are married and hardly spend any time together at all and still have an AMAZING relationship. If I need time I just tell him and we work something out. I understand he’s receptive to my needs, but I don’t ask for a lot either bc we are both busy. Relationships require time, but as long as it is agreed upon what that looks like to where both people feel happy then it makes things smoother. Good luck in your career and future partnership!!

Thank you soo much Leila and Alex. I was a butterfly girl before(believing a fairytale and expecting a perfect partner) but, now that i see couples like you(litreally only you both, i have seen no one else.) I understand sacrifice and how it is not the end of the world. Like I thought if I said something and if my partner didnt agree, he didnt love me , he hated me bla, bla, bla. But now, I think communication is F**king king. Like if I can literally tell him what is in my head and also figure out solutions together, that is a big win. He doesn't have to agree to me all the time. But the problem is I was in a relationship(we broke up long time ago and I am looking for someone, so yea) where, the other person didn't want to agree with me litreally because of an ego issue. Like most of the solutions which fit the scene better (advice not just from me, but other people who agreed with me) he just wanted to disagree and never go with it. We had to have an arguement for like 3 days for him to see light and be like oh this is might work and in the end he was sad cause his ego lost. Like he had to agree against his will cause it was a better choice. This happened cause he was really bad at finance and was overspending. I tried to get him to see a different perspective but it never worked. He never wanted to talk about emotions and how we both felt with each other as well. He was keen on showing he was mad as his idea wasn't taken and just ignored that for as long as possible. Due to this I developed a strategy that I must win, so I can top him, get satisfaction, whatever. I ended up with an ego mindset, which is literally me becoming him. So now I allow myself to listen and find someone with good communication and overlapping goals, not just the end goal but like we both are on the same path as well. Well, I had to express myself, so excuse the long parah, But thank you so much for making me understand I need to have priorities and good communication in a relationship rather than expect unrealistic "Perfect Conditions" I even learnt how the word "non-negotiable" is something which can be used in a relationship. Yea I was in such a dreamland haha. Love and respect, Manasa :)

I’ve been watching your channel for years now and as a 21 year old kid who was basically raised by his mom and learned nothing about business from his dad, I’m so grateful you’ve been making this content that is objectively good for me. I’ve learned more about making my life better from you than my own father and if you ever forget the impact your having remember that I wouldn’t have started my business or taken any of these huge steps in my life without your influence. @@alexisjosueramirez2 no I’m grateful for my mother for sure your right she has been very helpful for example in picking my partner and she kept a roof over my head and fed me for 18 years. She definitely didn’t want me to start my own business because she’s more risk averse than me. I want to build something massive and of course we should take advice from people who are where we want to be. When I’m a millionaire I will certainly retire my mother but Alex will be more to take credit for me becoming that millionaire than her. Every time things get hard she pressures me to quit and I have to remember I only started this business 22 months ago and I’m in the season I should be taking beginners licks. I’ve barely made it to this point but I can feel it gaining traction. I would have quit by now if not for Alex’s content to be honest and gone to a job which I could make more.

I love the grit and resilience you both exhibit. But especially Leila. At 53, and as the mother of small boy, I am a bit alarmed at the current trend for young women to kick their men to the curb when things don't go their way or at the smallest slight of offence. It isn't difficult to see that your success is attributed to the fact that you understand relationships of all kinds are a journey and nothing is absolute in the moment. Reciprocity and altruism is key. You are both amazing role models, and I wish you continued success and love. ps - I am delighted with the free course content on Aquisition. What a gift!!

Leila’s face when Alex said they would have had the same amount of success without each other 😂😂😂😂 He TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATES the DECADES she saved him by sticking with his STUBBORNNESS. Has he ever met a person THUS FAR that would have changed his perspective on things the way she has??? Has he met a woman like Leila THUS FAR in his life??? He underestimates literally how TRULY UNIQUE Leila is. And quite honestly, I feel like she gives more valuable and digestible information than Alex. He gives great info too, but i just have to give her props for what she brings to the table. I watch a lot more of her content than his. And that he was too rapid fire to answer that question bc he really underestimates what she brings to the table. They truly are a power couple and I think they would be successful in their own right, but not to the level of visibility that they are now. I also think the same with Grant and Elena Cardone, but I think her strength being the visionary and knowing how to push her husband to challenge himself to set his sights bigger and now that’s just how he is. I think Leila understands the operations background really well and knows how to get good output with the material they have to work with.
