I know you've discussed your depression issues in the past, and hope you've been able to cope better. Having recently gone through a family death, thankfully it was all planned streamlined and super fast and turned out to be the best funeral for our family member. Sometimes simple is best. Take care and blessings to you and your family.

I genuinely don’t understand how you don’t have 100k+ subscribers, your channel is amazing! I remember watching your videos before applying for a job as a funeral operative (in the UK) and although I am American, it’s fascinating to see the differences between the US and the UK when it comes to funerals and services x

Great video!!! I actually work for an answering service and a mortuary transport service. Some funeral homes gives us answers to common questions asked which is very helpful!!!!

It’s sad you need to remind people of your humanity but in the “Me” driven world of Ego, it guess it is no real surprise. Such a good subject for the video and it was great as always.

I think it is too. I feel the same way. I’m not in the funeral field, but I work in medical transportation, and that’s something that I wish my bosses would see, that we’re human, and not a robot, so to speak. I feel like I need time to decompress as well, especially after transporting some of the people we transport (I’m talking about people that maybe have behavioral issues, but also people that have serious illnesses.) It’s hard to do that when you’re basically told you’re working a 12+ hour day on a daily basis (they schedule it that way), and basically you can’t back out (you can ask them for fewer runs, but a few weeks later it’s the same way), and they’ll lay a guilt trip on you if you need to call out, and if you want to be paid vacation pay, you need to let them know a couple of weeks in advance, and you have to be sick to get sick pay (one company I worked for, it didn’t really matter to them, and after awhile, it was just PTO time). In other words, they discourage it, especially with them being short handed now, as some of the people that got laid off didn’t come back. That’s essentially the way it is for full time employees, and as a consequence, we don’t have much of a personal life.

New subscriber to your channel and admire the work that you do. I recently received a job from a funeral home and this video helped me greatly. With my new position at this funeral home I am a funeral services assistant as well as a receptionist, you nailed this video to a T by describing what answering services does this video couldn’t have come out any sooner! Thank you for all you do for us! 😀🖤

So as someone who has worked at an answering service for the better of 20 years and have also been a supervisor I have to weigh in on a couple things. 1. We would never sound robotic or non personal. Many times people would have no idea they were speaking to an answering service. If the funeral home did their due diligence and have us obituary info etc we acted just as if we were a funeral home employee. 2. I can think of 1 funeral home in the several hundred we answered for that would ask for such in depth information like where they are which hospice, which nursing home etc. rarely if ever did that happen. 9 times out of ten if it were something like a death certificate question then funeral home would have us either email or fax the message over. In the Event of a death call they had a funeral director on call and we would reach them with callers name phone number name of the deceased and that was it. 3. You have no idea how many times we would take calls from a hospice service and just know we were gonna get that call to the funeral home we answered for. You’re mostly spot on. But answering service employees are close to what you do In the sense of stress. No holidays no weekends off you worked -4 plus hour shifts while being empathetic. As far as calls during business hours but when funeral homes were unavailable to answer the phone a good 99% of the time callers were perplexed as to why a funeral home employee wasn’t available directly. We would bridge that gap and save that relationship. Any decent funeral home would tell us if so and so calls so rhis, etc. but we had many that would just forward to us randomly Total gamble

are there funeral homes that have someone working the night shift at the actual home that take calls? especially if there is a death call and they can personally take the call then call the funeral director themselves and inform them of the death or if the funeral home is on the smaller side would calls get transferred to whomever is in charge even in the middle in the middle of the night?

The funeral home I worked at, the owner/director lived on the second floor of the funeral home and would answer his own phone calls. On the weekends when he and his wife would go away, he would have me come in and stay, to answer the phone.

@@Zaidi_227 , No, I started working there when I was still in high school. I think most funeral homes have general help for working funerals, body removal and such which you are basically trained on the job. I got my EMT when I was 16, and then the funeral homes also ran ambulance service. If yo are interested, just stop by and talk to a few funeral homes and see what they can do.
