I’m invested in Brenda’s journey!! I get the impression that she was once care free and full of wonder. Ready to set the world on fire and build a perfect life outside of work. Somewhere along the way she became convinced that in order to be happy outside of work, she must be successful inside of work. Thus, she lost perspective and now is solely focused on her job. Would love to see a flashback/origin story for her (and all of the characters actually, Donna sue? Yes please!)

Being from Georgia, always partial to Donna Sue. And I’m guessing Laura is from the South somewhere going off a few pronunciations, particularly in this using the word ‘y’all’s’!

I appreciate the mention of botox without even blinking an eye. like "Yes, my forehead needed a little extra help. its not like this naturally and I only do it for my own preference" is so important for helping people with massive insecurities not thinking people come out like this with no work. You are a singularly amazing and gorgeous person and I appreciate your existence, the world is definitely a better place with you in it

The bit about the 5 year plan is probably the single most validating thing I’ve taken away from your q&a. I always felt like I couldn’t attain success because I just can’t bring myself to plan that far out. Thank you for alleviating that issue for me!

Agree. I've been asked that question a couple of times in the last few years after never being asked that before then and it's made me anxious both times. I dont plan that far out nor do I have a solid idea of what I want or expect to be doing then.

I got a QA job just over a year ago. Started as a temp and one of the first things that i liked was that i was interviewed by my soon to be manager (she was the manager to most people in the office) and the project lead for the department I'd be working in. I loved the company culture because it wasn't strictly professional in house, you can go to work in a t shirt and shorts if you want to, which most people do - we only get dressed up if we have execs coming in. I was given a permanent job once the temp project was finished because along with my good work, i fit in really well with the very jokey culture we have. I've been trained in 3 of the 5 departments in the office and I'm looking at training out in the field with people who aid the customers who have our products, though i can't drive so i won't transfer to that. So glad i turned down offers from places that raised red flags. The only red flag i had was that i couldn't work from home, but to be fair we need certain equipment that i wouldn't be able to maintain in my home. I also like that my office has flexible start and end times where you can come in between 8 and 10 and leave 8 hours later, however some people start even earlier or later and make up that time. My manager also gives a lot of flexibility, say you need to leave 4 hours early to get to the bank (I've had to do this), they'll let you work an extra hour every other day to cover it

I retired just over 2 years ago after 43 years in legal support work (litigation paralegal) for law firms and a government agency in NYC. Many of the issues you address in your videos are so true and helpful, I wish I and many others had seen them years ago. The pandemic changed a lot of workplaces, and not for the better in some areas, your videos discuss the specific issues from it as well as the electronic tethers too many workers face today. I wish you could create an advisory/consulting company using your videos and perhaps with live advisors could be part of 'respectable workplaces' training that is usually to reduce issues of racism, sexism, LGTBQ attitudes in workplaces. Many of the same issues as are the ones in your videos can be critical as to worker recruitment, retention of employees, reduce discrimination lawsuits and make for more productive workplaces.

@LoeWhaley very nice videos. Three topics I would love to see: 1- companies asking their employees to purchase travel on their personal credit cards, and ask for a reimbursement later - why are we expected to extend personal credit to our employers? 2- companies insisting that we see them as "our family" and nevertheless laying you off the minute there is a dip in the cash flow. 3- the narrative that employees should not focus so much on salary (instead, focus on fluffy stuff like realization, aspirations, contribution) while the owners and partners are laughing all the way to the bank. 4- In the startup world, stock options that are so restrictive in their vesting and selling parameters, that they become just a FOMO lock on the neck of the employee.

It's lovely to meet YOU. Thanks!! I want to know how you spied in on my life!! ln 1976 when I was 26 I got my first ever management job. I was a junior manager, running a small 3 person branch in New Zealand, in a multi national computer corporation. The organisation structure had me sitting on the organisation chart alongside senior managers 30 years older than me, and i reported to a corporate VP living in Detroit. Aussies/New Zealanders, and Americans have different ideas about work/life balance. My boss never understood that. When he wanted to talk to me he'd just pick up the phone and call. My wife went B-E-R-S-E-R-K every time the phone rang at 3am. Again and again it happened. My boss wanted to talk about the amount i put in my budget for stationery or something equally earth shatteringly important that simply couldn't wait. Until one morning she dived across my body and reached the phone before I did. She YELLED at him. "NO! HE's asleep it's THREE IN THE MORNING YOU IDIOT!" she yelled. When he suggested perhaps she could wake me up (i was laughing as quietly as i could) she yelled "NO! - HE'LL BE AVAILABLE IN 5 HOURS! Call back then. " and slammed the phone down in his ear. . (He learned his lesson for about a month then forgot it and went back to calling me at 3am again) I hope you'll have an easy move to BC - I'd love to go there some day. I've visited very briefly on the way to Toronto and it looks like the kind of place I'd like to live.

Dear Loe (Brenda), As an old[er] 60+ y/o gaffer who spent as a contractor writer for decades, always in Big Corporations, your vids reflect my corporate experiences. I binge on your video. Best intentions for all your creations and your future endeavors. Big hugggz! PS, love your "UNT" mug. Respectfully, Marcus Stuart.

A question I would have asked, if I had known, would have been "How do you find passion in your work life?" I just cannot find myself driven enough by any idea or situation to even want to make something big and successful out of it.
