A cultural question if I may: nowadays the relations between Finland and Sweden are pretty friendly, but still there are quite a few Finns who are upset with Sweden because of the past, so much so that one advice often given by Finnish youtubers is "don't praise Sweden too much in front of Finns". How do Swedes generally feel about Finland, are there any who don't like it or look down on it? And a bonus one: how would Swedes react if someone asks, "Swedish and Finnish, they must be very similar, right?" ?

This is a VERY good question. I might use it for part 2. I think you can get different answers depending who you ask but my general feeling is that all the nordic countries support each other (at least nowadays). We would have each others back if a non-nordic country would do something bad to us / or talk bad about us... since we share so many similarites (history, culture, social codes etc). We are like siblings. We have a love and hate relationship. You would do anything for your sibling even if you find them annoying, envy them and make fun of them sometimes. I would say that Sweden, has a history of being the one who think the greatest of themselves. Like when we say that " Stockholm is the capital of Scandinavia" (this was actually Stockholms slogan for a while). Therefore, I can imagine that Finns and other nordics find us a bit annoying. Even though most Swedes would think everyone loves us because we are so great, haha. I can also imagine that some Finns dislike us a bit more because some Swedes haven't treated them the best way (at least not back in the old days). There is also a horrible derogatory word in the Swedish language about finns. One way of saying acne/ pimple in Swedish is finne. Which is the same word as a Finish person. So... I can understand that they are a bit annoyed by us. On the other hand, there are so many Swedes that loves Finish people (me included!) and that has Finish ancestry / relatives / family and friends so we would not have in mind if someone asks us if Swedes and Finns are very similar. Because we are in a lot of things.

Oh my goodness LOL - I am from the US and I'm going to be moving to Sweden soon and I found the ginger comment from the Irish lad so funny. My ancestors came from Ireland to immigrate to the US and I also have red hair but I have no desire to move to Ireland (but I want to visit that beautiful country one day!) but I am in LOVE with Sweden! 🤣

I'll try to condense 3 points: a) I make some videos playing music every now and then and 10h for a 10min video sounds very true. I spend 1h for 30-60s videos. But your editor(s) does a really good job, so I think it's worth it. I love their humor and contributions to the videos. b) Some places here in Brazil also use area codes to refer to people of a certain area, though I've never seen them used in a derogatory manner. People from where I used to live, in the central coast of São Paulo, refer to themselves as "013", as it's the area code for the region. But there's a bit of pride in that. We also have a slang that someone is "13" meaning they are crazy, though I don't know if those are related. c) I have long blond hair and my brother has long red hair. We have often been accused of having fake hair, despite it being 100% natural on the both of us.

Thank you and your team for making such fun and helpful videos! I'm studying Swedish to have a better connection with relatives in Sweden. I love learning the language, but sometimes it feels a little futile since everyone in Sweden speaks much better English than I speak Swedish. Do you feel that learning Swedish can really help us connect better across cultures? How have you experienced this in your own life?

Those Center chocolates look just like these chocolates that I loved a lot when I was a kid in the U.S. called Rolo. As for the licorice, I love it. I always have a big bag of black licorice on-hand. I quit eating it a while back because I read some alarming stories about heart damage that can result from regular consumption of it, but I resumed eating it regularly anyway some months back after learning about its popularity i Norden. It’s interesting that licorice is actually most popular in the Netherlands. I wasn’t aware of that. It seems to be a Germanic thing. This Anglo definitely loves it-the black kind, at least. I’m not a fan of the red kind.

Totally different Q: what font do you use in these videos? It is very pretty. And what is font in Swedish? 😊 "Hur heter bokstavstypen?" Regarding tacos, I was in Sweden last summer and although I didn't have tacos, I had pizza, and I was very surprised that they put a bunch of creamy sauce on that. Not sure if that is a Swedish thing too, but Italians might have an opinion about it.

my Q is : I am really curious about this one. Do Swedes know about Charles XII and his adventures in Europe and his stay in Ottoman Empire and connected to that do you often use the word that means crowded borrowed from Turkish? btw I LOVE Sweden and Swedish, once in a while before I sleep I listen to Svensk Radio 1, I love the sound of Svensk.
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish 2 ай бұрын
Great question! Not sure that every Swede know about it (or remeber it) but we do learn a bit about it in school. We have so many borrowed words and food from Turkey due to that. That is very impressive that you listen to P1 in Swedish before sleeping! Well done! If you ever want to learn more Swedish and practice the Swedish sounds then you should join this course funswedish.teachable.com/p/pronunciation

And also it was very fresh type of content. I'll be happy for part 2! Min frågor: how tell English words into Swedish speach in understandable way when you suddenly forget right sw word? Like " Jag vill det ... lemon" (citron). Is it appropriate anyway?
@FunSwedish

= How do you say... lemon...in Swedish? = I want to have a ...lemon... what do you call it in Swedish? Hope I understood your question correctly. Hopefully this sentences will help you :)

Hej! Tack så mycket for the video! I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. When do you use “en” versus “ett” and “min” versus “mitt” and “din” versus “ditt”? Does it have to do with whether you’re referring to something living/alive versus an object. For example, “Min man” and “Mitt hus”. Thanks in advance!

Where are you studying Swedish? You should join our Swedish courses instead . We focus a lot on Swedish pronounciation. Like in this course elansutbildning.teachable.com/courses/enrolled/2232485 But "god morgon" is pronunced very differently from how it is spelled. We say more like "go morron". We actually talk a lot about this in our pronounciation course :)

If Ella doesn't have a bicycle - Why do you have to respond with "Nej (,det har hon inte)" to the statement "Ella har ingen cykel."even if you want to agree, as the statement is correct? 🤔
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish 2 ай бұрын
Let's see if I understood your question correctly (let me know otherwise). If someone says "Ellen har ingen cykel" and you want to confirm that the statement is correct then we usually say either "nej, precis" or "nej, det har hon inte". If you just say "nej" then it sounds like you disagree with the statement "Ellen har ingen cykel" (like saying "No, that is not correct.. she has a bike".
